When craving is there, we do not have peace. We have poison. We suffer and make other people suffer. More anger, fear, confusion. Harming our health and destroys our survival. Peace is the Way. There is no other way to peace. In the present moment.

What impresses me most with Thay is his consistently compassionate and positive vocabulary which denotes a profound understanding of the human condition. His life is a perfect rebuttal to the existential leaning placing man, and his emotions like logs, at the whims of a raging river. Thank you for elucidating the cause for my lifelong anger dilemma, and providing me with a path where it can with mindfulness, be at last transmuted. Profound 🙏🏾❤️💐

Thank you all for providing these short clips, that appear to me to be directed quite explicitly to the episodes of anger and resulting bringing out of handguns, etc,so frequently seen in u.s. at this time. Youngest looking older person I’ve ever seen
@audionmusic3628

Master, I have sought enlightenment over my life. The older I get, the more evil I see, for my perception now can see ‘Normal’ things as being often evil. I see people spreading lies & violence. I see governments stealing from their citizens. The foundations of our material world are mostly evil. I feel anger at this evil. I feel motivated to fight against it. How can it be correct to become a nonparticipant in a world short on wisdom & courage? Such non participation simply allows evil to win unopposed.
@isaacashton8811
@isaacashton8811 3 жыл бұрын
Speaking pragmatically, it's best for one to focus on change at an individual level before taking on the burdens of a society perceived to be wholly sick and founded on evil. I think that instead of questioning the correctness of becoming a non-participant, it is first better to question what it means to oneself to be a participant. What does participation look like? Following, what does non-participation look like? I grew up with a sociopathic dad who abused me terribly and made me question my sanity and sense of reality, and I harbored a lot of anger and resentment toward the world and myself because I had a core, false belief that my dad must love me ergo the world must be full of terrible evils if what I experience at home is love and what is outside of the home is, for the most part, completely opposite; I was so spurned that I internalized my rage toward my dad, and when I could no longer internalize that rage I projected his evil-doing onto society. That is to say, I held many false perceptions about the world because of the weight I was carrying (I was in fact gaslighted by my dad and that only added to these false perceptions I held). Simply put, I was very jaded--I'm still healing today, though still very young (23 soon). I think it's very easy to project an internal struggle onto the world around oneself. And to be frank, speaking cautiously because I could be wrong about your situation, I also think it's very easy to fool oneself into thinking that they are doing exactly that when they are not. However, because it can only do oneself good, to go along the line of thinking that a fool who persists in his folly becomes wise, why not seek to improve society at the level of the individual (ie. one's own immediate life) under the assumption that factors in your immediate life are likely the ultimate source of your upset? If it's a false assumption, you will be better equipped to tackle societal issues that are upsetting anyway, and if it's a correct assumption not only is your life improved, the illusory grievance of societal evils vanishes (though I am not saying societal evils do not exist). Evil is not winning unopposed in any sense of the word unopposed, but it may seem like that when one is swamped by despair. I'm curious about what "normal" things now often appear evil to you.

Isaac Ashton I am in my 50s. I see the world in a more historical context than you. The evil which exists in the world is massively dominant. Evil has won nearly all battles with Good. This world is the Aftermath. You don’t see it as particularly evil because you haven’t lived long enough to have a frame of reference. Humanity is more like to kill itself off than not. There is less than a 10% chance of human civilization lasting beyond this century. The struggle of millions of people over thousands of years to advance humanity was all for naught. All the enlightenment gained was for nothing. It didn’t help. All of the struggles of your life will be for naught if events in the outside world overwhelm you. You cannot focus only on yourself. Those who do are merely another monastery of slaughtered monks. Men who knew the way but chose not to share it with the world. Little good it does to reach enlightenment if your neighbors are still barbaric.

@@audionmusic3628 You quite succinctly described and defined the issues (core issues) that prevent me from entering into a particular quality of restorative sleep so critical for a healthy physiology. How does an individual speak 1 these issue (s) aloud among family /friends without causing a radical reassessment of both ones value and competency ? I'm racked with churning sorrow and grief that transmutes into a rage-like amalgamation of emotion that wakes me between 1:30 am and 3:00 am every night, without fail.
