When AutoCAD sponsor Daniel, I know Daniel is the "real deal" architecture. As an engineer, first time I see this dominant "engineering design" software sponsor someone on youtube. Congrats on this milestone! I love that Daniel enjoy both his "main career" (architecture) and "side career" (youtuber). You definitely inspire me in many ways!

Amazing and inspiring. I have a similar story. Started a family and moving out of my 2BR apartment in downtown Vancouver BC ,and moving back to my family home. I’ll be occupying the upstairs while my parents move downstairs. It’s great because my parents get to enjoy their grandkids and I get much needed space. I’m looking to remodel the “Vancouver special” and your videos have given me some fantastic ideas. With the economy in the toilet I’ve been open to going the ikea minimalist/budget friendly route. Would love for you to give me some ideas on how to maximize the space!

Thank you for showing some practical renovations. The "professionals" I have worked with are all about form and seem to care little about function. Several years ago we paid a designer to redesign our function room to make it better for the potlucks and pizza parties held there. The result was uncomfortable couches with professional dry-clean only upholstery and $600 pillows. The dining tables were replaced with only one small game table which arrived damaged. She had the audacity to tell us "From this day forward there shall be no food in this area." Right now I am working with a designer for my small condo kitchen who doesn't like the look of refrigerators and doesn't think I need one. I like to cook and a kitchen without a refrigerator and freezer is not a kitchen to me. We really need people like you that can design practical spaces.

Very nice transformation. I used to sell one of those houses here in germany. Everything was old and needed to be refurbished. Your ideas fit great in this kind of house. Especially the bi-folding door to the garden is fantastic.. it might be expensive, but definitely worth the money. This is (beside the wooden floor with the beautiful pattern) one of my personal highlights about this house. Sometimes those houses come with a cellar, which tend to be 'damp'. Most of the times it is not a problem if you do not wanna use it as a living area and when buying you have a chance to get a lot discount.

When I studied in the UK some 30 years ago, it was unimaginable to think of my British friends staying with their parents, but it seems this is getting very common these days. I am less fortunate than you in that although I am staying with my dad, we are always at loggerheads with each other, a situation that hasn't improved with my mum's passing away just a few months ago. So although I am out of work for now, I am moving back to my own apartment to avoid further deterioration with my dad's relationship. The apartment is quite large by Hong Kong standard at 600 sq ft, which I bought 10 years ago and then rented out past few years to earn extra income. I fully agree with you it's real hassle to look after a large space like that. With just myself I would be happy to live in an open plan studio with just 300sq ft.
