That's gorgeous! I'd switch the RGB keyboard backlight to a single color, but I otherwise love everything about this build.

Yeah, I tend to favor red backlighting, but that's just me.
@keyboard_g9 ай бұрын
If you like the color and want to stop the bleed through, you can white primer the inside of the case. You wont have to worry about it rubbing off.
@3osufdh4rfg9 ай бұрын
10:56 I'd just put some electrical tape over the LEDs the bleed through. Should be easy enough to get to stick while not being too hard to remove later if you need to see them again.

Looks amazing. Personally I'd leave out the RGB keys as, for me, it spoils the old-school-retro charm slightly, but a fantastic job!

Agreed, get that Zoomer RGB lighting out of there

Cool project. I don't like how the keys are proud of the case. I would modify the design to recess the keyboard. I would also add the three buttons next to the LEDs.
@charlescraigjr33419 ай бұрын
You can put aluminum duct tape on the inside of the case over the lights. No bleed thru. Tape inside case (gray/black) or paint inside case would likely show the color of the tape or paint.

Very nice indeed, I look forward to you follow ups. Colours: I might go seemingly boing and either Acorn beige or Amstrad grey... If you have the keycaps I might change the function keys for the red-ish ones you have, the grey for most of the others, and a few white ones for the 'special' keys (Oric Atmos pattern with an Acorn theme and a dash of CPC 128 thrown in) I'd probably pick a single fairly muted colour for the RGB to pull that splash of colour together.

The case is excellent and a great idea with the coloured function keys.

Resin print does have layer lines. It just happens they're so small you can't see them with the naked eye.

Great video. 👏 I did some similar years ago with another Fpga "SIDI" and the Amiga 600 3d printed case. And yes!!! Is a MASSIVE difference. 😄👍

I am sooo impatiently looking forward to MiSTEr keyboard cases full kits for sale… or some kind of official MiSTEr pack like the Pi400…
@horusfalcon9 ай бұрын
Why did you use round-headed Philips screws where the screw holes are countersunk? Other than that, great build. There's no mess of wires that can't be tamed and squared away with enough cable ties and sticky-back anchors. As for case color? Everything goes well with black. I just painted the upper cover for my bass amp with some hammertone black and it turned out beautifully.
@samuraidriver4x49 ай бұрын
Personally i would remove the LED's from the board or cover them with printed caps so they dont bleed through.
@dugmeister659 ай бұрын
Agreed, just desolder them…

Excellent video. Looking forward to part two. I wouldn't paint the case. Just paint the mister logo parts and led bezels the same colour. Try a few layers of tape on the internal leds and higher value resisters around (1K) on the panel leds.
@little_fluffy_clouds9 ай бұрын
Solved this by installing my MiSTer inside an old Amiga 600 case, and hooked up the built-in Amiga keyboard using Keyrah interface. Works a treat. My other MiSTer is installed into a custom-designed Multisystem console case from RMC, which also works well. Just don't bother installing the loud supplied cooling fan, it's not necessary anyway.

Brilliant project that :) I really enjoyed watching that build my friend :) keep up the good work and fab videos !! :)

If it were mine I would paint it beige and use black keycaps with white print! But I’d keep the orange function keys!
@MegaManNeo9 ай бұрын
This makes the mess that the MiSTer is so much more pleasing to look at. AND it's much more feature rich than the A500 mini too! Well, aesthetically this is now a A600 Mini but you know... :D

Great build, though I do prefer my remix. It has rectangular LEDs and extra buttons for the RST, USR, PWR buttons. I also used 1k resistors on the LEDs as 330 is just too bright.
@preferredimage9 ай бұрын
Oh, sticky backed foil on the inside of the case to hide the LEDs... White looks nice although I'd fill where it says mister to make it pop.
@OscarSommerbo9 ай бұрын
My first thought was black electrical tape, but that might create a dark spot on the case. Foil tape is a much better alternative.

This is great! Personally, I’ve got a MiSTer Multisystem from Heber, but I don’t like games consoles (which the MMS tries to be); I’d be FAR more interested in something like this, that takes the form of an 80s-style home computer with a nice keyboard. I’m sorely tempted to start again with a new MiSTer in a case like this…! It’s just so much more in line with what I actually want. Mr Retroshack, would you please kindly make your little perfboard replacements available via PCBWay, or some such, so that the rest of us plebs can build something like this more easily? Thanks…!

This looks really nice, except for the keyboard backlights. I don’t think they fit the theme, and should be turned off.

I am an intermediate miSTer user. I have wanted to do this myself, but had no idea how. Now I do though. One question: How do you handle the 3 buttons on the FPGA ANALOG or DIGITAL IO BOARDS? I haven't been using a keyboard with my miSTer, so seeing you use the F12 key was cool! Does that solve the 3 -button problem?
@TheRetroShack9 ай бұрын
Yep - all the buttons have keyboard equivalents :)

Love it just as it is! I would paint it black myself but I tend to paint everything black. Whatever colour you choose I think you're right, the lights will look better without the bleed-through effect. Also done on a respectable budget - thanks for sharing this idea!

Two shades darker than your function keys That's the colour for that case. Or, if you're feeling completely retro style. Two shades darker than your orange key So basically, 70's brown/beige really.
