You are absolutely right. This is classic, unapologetic, ruthless, Rhettster and Linky poo. This reminds me of 2014 GMM. My favorite episodes were ones where they would just talk about stuff. LTAT was also a great vibe. Wish they'd bring that back.

That Link energy laughing about doing something stupid like taking out his regulator reminds me of nothing so much as the Cat in the Hat energy... Link, are you the Cat in the Hat?? All jokes aside, I could only imagine the intense levels of stress you have to endure being a passenger while Link is behind the wheel. My dad was an aggressive driver and his reckless driving really scarred me for life. It was fun for him but not to everyone else with him in the car. The way Rhett described how Link drove were very reminiscent of the traumatic experience I had with my dad's driving. 😬

Loved hearing of their experience with Orcas. My sister once was water skiing off the coast of Saltspring Island in Canada when all of a sudden, she was surrounded by a pod. I could see very large dorsal fins coming up right alongside my sister. My father who was driving the boat was unaware, but both myself (who was the spotter) and my sister were FREAKED out. Thankfully my sister did not fall and I made my father aware of the situation so that he could veer away from the pod. While obviously Orcas generally don't attack humans, for an 8 and 10 year old, that was a scary experience.

Not entirely, then as I got more in to the fandom I said let me check one out, and it was good. Still didnt hook me, then I got recommended the ben episode and was like ok, I enjoyed that. Visit Michigan for your next vacation!!!! Specifically, I would recommend northern Michigan. If you want something more rugged, go for a camping/hiking trip to the UP - pictured rocks or porcupine mountains. So beautiful, completely rustic though. If you want something more… idk… populated? DEFINITELY go to the Leelenau Peninsula. It is a small area, the “pinkie” of Michigan with great food, beautiful beaches, countless wineries, and amazing hikes. I know that I sound like an advertisement for Michigan but I grew up there and I just have such a love for my home state - it’s so underrated as a travel destination but you wouldn’t be disappointed.

There is no experience like seeing orcas in the wild. It is almost spiritual, it is the closest i’ve felt to feeling connected to something bigger than myself in a spiritual sense. every time i’ve whale watched, i’ve been moved to tears. they are so sacred and I highly suggest learning about south res orcas. They are an endangered species in America and extinction is a huge concern for them. The south res pods are essential for our oceans in the PNW. Please please please learn about them!

Rhett asked why they get motion sickness in different vehicles then mentions it could be physiological and he’s right. The inner ear construct is slightly different for everyone and if you have any ear issues (noticeable or not) that can affect your balance and is different for everyone. So it sounds like the difference of their physical anatomy would logically explain how they each get sick with different motions.

Cool Dude Trip I'm neither a dude or particularly cool, but here are some suggestions for you next trip with your college buddies: Monterey Peninsula Area - Central Coast of California Sense of Adventure: Very pricey - like it starts at $3,000 a person - Formula One Racecar Driving lesson/experience at Laguna Seca Raceway. There are at least a couple of places that do this - Skip Barber or Allen Berg and if you do this, stop at Tarpy's nearby when you are done for a good meal in the courtyard of an historic old stone building. Paragliding and hang gliding along the dunes and coast along Highway 1 from Monterey from Marina. Marina also has Skydive Monterey that offers the world's highest tandem jump. Less Adventurous but worthy - Horseback riding along the beach in Andrew Molera state park, Big Sur. Beautiful! Kayaking through the Elkhorn Slough to paddle by otters and seals and dolphins. About an hour away, the Pinnacles National Monument has rocks to climb and repel and caves to explore. More off the beaten track - mountain bike or e-bike through the former Fort Ord, wind your way back a bit and there are a number of old abandoned buildings to explore. Shhh... You didn't hear that from me! Of course there is lots of great scuba diving down in the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary, or stay on the surface and do some stand-up paddle boarding. To meet your luxuriating requirement you can go to the Buddhist Monastery - Tassajara Hot Springs in Carmel Valley or at the even quirkier Esalen Institute in the Big Sur area. More traditional luxuriating can be found in dozens of air bnbs in the area which you can find in... Cool Towns - Really, I think you can throw a dart at the peninsula and hit a good spot every time. Pacific Grove, Monterey, Carmel, no real bad choices. I'd recommend the woodsy old homes that still remain in Carmel proper, at least a few blocks off touristy Ocean Avenue. Too many restaurants to choose just one, but Rhett, stop by the Cheese Shop at the Plaza for some cheese, and Link, you can send some home to Christy! And most importantly, if you come up this way, come see me!

I LOVE R&L and I love watching these podcasts. I wanted to comment that Rhett appears to be more critical of Link lately. I don't think he is trying to be hurtful with these criticisms. I find myself wishing that Rhett was a little more open to the notion that maybe (just maybe) Link thinks about things differently than him and that's ok. Like the fast driving example: I would guess that the idea that what Link was doing was unsafe didn't even enter his mid. It likely didn't occur to him at all. It likely wasn't that he didn't care or was being selfish, the idea literally was not there. The thing I would suggest would be to tell him in that moment, so he could adjust (because we know that he would) instead of criticizing him later. Now yes, this is a podcast and yes, it is funny. But if this is an actual concern the moment to talk about it is when it's happening. Different people have different brains. It just seems to me that there are a lot of things Link does, at least lately, that seem "weird" to Rhett and Link has no idea they're weird.
