Hectic Corrugation on the road from Solitaire to Walvisbay in Namibia is keeping us on our toes and our motorcycles shaken up. But the scenery is absolutely spectacular with thousands of hills, valleys and even a magnificent mountain pass called Kuiseb Pass.
We also pass the tropic of Capricorn along the way and once we get to the last long stretch to walvisbay the whole world opens up. Vast plains with absolutely nothing all around us gives you the feeling you are alone on this world.

It did Namibia amazingly well, no issues at all. Well I have been riding it for 30 000 km and had no issue for the whole time, except for the rear shock that needed replacing (still the original) after Namibia

There is a tar road from Windhoek to Swakop and Walvis, I have driven it many times. The Spergebied is there to protect the rights of the diamond mines, not really to conserve nature but it is a great "side effect". The last bit of the gravel road before Walvis that was so nice is a salt road like many in the area. I love that part of the world, thanks for showing it to me again.

We realised afterwards there is a tar road🙈would have been a bit strange if there wasn’t but we were not thinking clearly. Thank you for your comment, it’s a beautiful part of the world

I was really happy to see that you, as a couple, are still going strong. I think after that stretch of 250km of semi desert sand you will be able to enjoy the rest of you yourney together. Nice job.

There is two roads you can take from Windhoek to Swakop. Gravel road via Khomas Hochland pass that is a gravel road and the main B2 that is asphalt. Just because you travel or chose to take gravel roads does not say all roads are gravel. The last part of the road are salt roads.

Yes we realised that there is an asfalt road later on after this was shot 😅 our mistake. Definitely not saying that if we do a gravel road that’s the only way, just an honest mistake

The Tropic of Capricorn is located at 23.5 degrees south of the equator. This means it circles the Earth at this specific distance from the equator. So, if you look at a globe or a map, you can find the Tropic of Capricorn running through countries like Australia, Brazil, and South Africa. It helps us understand how the Earth tilts and how we get different seasons. The Tropic of Capricorn is an imaginary line that goes around the Earth. It is located in the southern part of the world, about a third of the way between the equator and the South Pole. This line marks the southernmost point where the sun can be directly overhead at noon. This happens once a year, around December 21st, which is called the December solstice. Think of the Tropic of Capricorn like a special marker on the globe. It helps us understand how the Earth tilts and how we get different seasons. When it's summer in the southern half of the world (like in places like Australia and South Africa), the sun is shining directly above this line.

Great scenery. Have you considered lowering your tyre pressure on those roads ? More comfortable ride and also a lot safer (just like a 4X4).

The Tropic of Cancer lies at 23.5 degrees north of the equator, while the Tropic of Capricorn is at 23.5 degrees south. These latitudes define the boundaries of the tropics. They are also important for distributing sunlight across the planet

The Tropic of Capricorn is the southern most point that the sun can be seen overhead. Any further south and the sun will be angled lower in the sky.

Hopefully when the oil money starts to flow, the Namibian government will tar this road. Its one of the most travelled stretches in Namibia, and a grader once a month just doesn't cut it. Safe travels guys.
