GO CHECK THEM OUT!!
In this video use the dry dropper euro rig that Bradley showed us in the last video to catch wild rainbow trout in a small creek. This technique is amazingly effective for small pocket water and one you will probably see us using throughout the spring and into the summer. We caught over 100 rainbow trout in one day and had a blast learning from Bradley.
With a beautiful early spring day we had rainbows even eating dry flies in their search to fatten up before their spawn. It isn't often that you hit it right and get so many fish to the net. So many in fact that many of them didn't make the cut.
Go check out Catch Cam Nets and get a new net!! I hope you guys enjoyed.

Amazing saids it all! The long handled nylon mesh neting and release technicque is the topping on the cake...., early season Nymphing is the " meat and potatoes" meal and this euro nymphing is a super presentation clearly demonstrated in your outstanding video. MANY THANKS !

One day in April years ago on the Salmon River when I was still mostly bottom bouncing I met a couple dudes and we exchanged reports and they told me they were Czech nymphing. I asked what that meant and they described bottom bouncing with a fly rod. I have since moved primarily to float fishing in the big rivers.

You don’t need a Euro set up to fish like this although I see how it could be convenient. I fish this way all the time with standard rod / line especially when I think trout will spook with standard indicators. Also you be surprised at some of the fish you hook on the dry, especially in the fall. Somehow I never thought of it while euro nymphing, very versatile for switching between deeper holes with euro. Can’t wait to try it out.

Incredible! Incredible! Great fishing.. Did you ever find out what was wrong with the black headed trout?
@hardmanfishing
@hardmanfishing 3 жыл бұрын
Not officially, we just assumed it had something to do with the injury from the bird.

Great video!! Some really nice wild fish!!! Just think about this, what some people might want to know is what flys ur using and why? For instance do you have to use a certain size dry fly that won’t sync with that tongues and beard is under it? Go into those variables a little bit More so guys can understand it. Also I never saw you guys drying off the dry flies I’m sure you had to keep afloat in but do you use gel do use powder etc. some people might wanna know that kind of thing. Just a suggestion bro
@hardmanfishing
@hardmanfishing 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the suggestion! We honestly don't think much about that as we're fishing, we just do it naturally. We'll definitely take that into consideration when we do another one of these videos.

I find a fish with a dark head and "throat" is due to diet. I usually see a more aggressive feeder in a shallow run or in a pool with a shallow run above and below. If you look at the shallows i suspect you will see fresh water snails or snail tracks on the bottom rocks. The calcium and iron of the snails will darken the head and throat of a aggressive feeding trout. I've found silver dollar size turtles in trout. As a aggressive shallow feeder it also makes the fish vulnerable to being stabbed by a crane, heron or kingfisher.

Good rule of thumb if you intend on releasing fish. Hold your breath when you have a trout out of water, by the time you feel you need a breath of air, so does the fish. (Y’all did a good job though).

So if you guys fished without a sighter or any indicator do strikes just feel like a pause or even the bottom? Im just struggling to get past nymphing with a thingamabobber which definitely spooks fish in those smaller creeks
@hardmanfishing
@hardmanfishing 3 жыл бұрын
So in this video we used the dry fly as an "indicator" so we didn't need the sighter. But in the previous video we use the sighter like an indicator, any pause or jump in that sighter and it is a strike more often than not.

Yes they sell them. Not with the "Hardman Fishing adventures" on them, that was actually a custom handle. But the nets themselves they do sell and you can customize it if you want to. Go check out the website (I put the link in the description)

Wow have never seen a black headed rainbow! Wonder if it’s some kinda cross breed?! And I’ll bet that hole in his heads from a bird, Osprey, hawk, eagle maybe? Or a coon ?
@hardmanfishing
@hardmanfishing 3 жыл бұрын
Well we are pretty sure the holes were from a heron. But I'm not sure about the black head, might have been a result of the injury.

I noticed you have a lot of fly line out of the reel. That's not normal euro-nymphing. It creates a lot of sag, but hey. What do I know....you guys are catching some great fish. I agree with another comment, you are not talking through your techniques and therefore your video title is totally misleading.
@hardmanfishing
@hardmanfishing 3 жыл бұрын
I'll be honest the original title I had during the editing process and was supposed to be changed. I didn't have the video ready when it went live and I didn't have service to change it. I need to fish less and edit more apparently
