Annie, I am so happy to hear that you are going to have your Thyroid checked. I’m a Dental Hygienist and notice on occasion with doing an oral cancer screening of my patients that there is an enlarged area on their neck and would suggest that the patient have their thyroid checked. I had thyroid cancer. My younger sister had thyroid cancer prior to my diagnosis so I asked my Dr. about my thyroid he said my blood test were always normal but they would order an ultrasound to check it. The ultrasound showed that one side of my thyroid was classified a multiple nodule goiter. It was recommended to have ultrasounds yearly due to one nodule being 1 centimeter. I did that for a few years then questioned my dr an endocrinologist the specialist I started seeing m, I asked him that if we were watching the large nodule for possibly developing into Cancer wouldn’t it be better to just remove it. He said the chances of that happening were nill. That answer made me decide to change endocrinologist. So the new one I started going to asked if I ever had a biopsy I said no so she recommended I have that. It was inconclusive for being cancer so they still recommend you have it out. I did and I did have cancer but it wasn’t the large centimeter nodule it was a tiny 4 mm nodule that was cancer so because there was cancer only on the one side and not the other they removed both sides. It was beginning 😊stage my sisters more advanced. We are both fine no reoccurring issues in over 18 years. we both had radioactive iodine treatments we take a tiny pill synthroid daily to replace the function of our thyroid and all is good. I believe everyone should have an ultrasound of their thyroid because you don’t know the physical makeup of your thyroid if you don’t have that. They were going by a blood test with my physicals every year saying it was fine. They told me thyroid cancer is rare but better to be safe than sorry, I noticed your neck from your videos and have been struggling with how I could communicate with you on my awareness. So this video I just watched and hearing you say something about your moms concern I was relieved that now you know to have your thyroid checked. Thyroid cancer is very treatable and most of the time benign. So yes I would just take the time to have the visit to a reputable Endocrinologist for evaluation that will give you piece of mind. You will be in my thoughts and 🙏❤️
