Currently on medical leave…we’ve been hitting the pantry pretty hard. I’ve noticed somethings are nearing expiration that we acquired back in 2020. I also thought we had a 6 mo supply of things, 2 mos in and many things are depleted. I’d like to encourage everyone to take inventory and reconsider the amt of items we are putting up if we are to rely on our pantries to sustain us. ❤️🙏🏾

Folding stoves, that's what we need! We just recently bought some little cooking cans.
@bethfromchicago8719 Жыл бұрын
We have a sterno...folding stove. It uses a canister of sterno..We found out the metal sides of the stove get very warm. Set it on a metal cooking sheet for stability. When we lost power a few years ago, we set the cooking sheet on a charcoal grill outside. The grill was just for stabilizing the cooking sheet and folding stove. Most of us prefer sturdy fry pans and one quart pans on our kitchen stoves. On the sterno..stove I recommend inexpensive small fry pans with thin bottoms. A one quart pan with a thin bottom is good also. You can put butter in the fry pan and fry bread until it is lightly browned and warm. The quart pot can boil water for pour over coffee, instant oatmeal, tea, etc. Chef Boyardee can be heated up in a pot. Don't put heavy or large pans on the sterno...stove because it could tip over. When we were without power during a five day outage, fry bread and pour over coffee was very good. The fast food restaurants had very long lines.

I use my walk-in closet for my prepped food. It is the coolest area in the home and the master bedroom has an air conditioner dedicated to that room. I just recently found heat and eat in an emergency MRE’s online. I became so obsessed with prepping when they started shutting things down when Covid started that I’m still buying things plus my spouse has fear of fire so I had to get smokeless cooking supplies but It is smart to prep for anything including building your go bags for couple and go bags for your kids as well we were originally going to have a safe room built but during a conversation with neighbors someone said don’t forget you will also need a plumber to build a place in the room for you guys to use the bathroom and I said oh lord we are not digging all these holes in the basement so I went back to the computer and found toilets with disposable bags plus I have some powder that turns urine and feces to basically nothing prepping takes time you don’t want to be caught without anything like matches that won’t absorb water if they get wet by a mistake or forgetting to put crayons and coloring books in the kids go bag. Littles things like that will eventually mean a lot.

If you fill it with city water that’s already been treated you don’t need to add bleach. But it’s potable. By the way, I also have the water-bob which is the same as yours for the bathtub. It’s good enough to drink out of as potable water. I also used a walk in closet when we lived in a manufactured home and we stored food in a friend’s basement. Nice job. Everyone can find a bit of room to plan and store things!! It just takes willingness to make it happen -- protect yourself and be prepared!!
