Our Nigerian Dwarf Goats are Pregnant!

We are so excited here at the Rocking C Homestead! After waiting for a couple of years, we can finally announce that our female Nigerian Dwarf goats are pregnant!! The results from the blood test show that all three of our ladies, Maisy, Karmel and Spice, are going to be mommies! Another piece of exciting news is that our local vet has a mobile ultrasound machine and he'll be coming out to the homestead on February 14th to see if we can get a few more details on the pregnancies. Primarily we're interested to know how many babies each lady is having and approximately how far along they each are. We hope you'll join us on this adventure and we'll have many more fun goat themed videos coming out soon.

Congrats guys. We have had three different kidding seasons with a total of 18 kids. We have only had to help in the birth two times. 8 out of the 18 we was away from the place when the kids was born. We have only had one that didn't survive out of the 18. Can bad things happen? Yes. Do they always happen? No.Keep in minded that goats have been having kid before we started keeping them. We have in our kidding kit: a digital scale with a sling (for birth weight), some old bath towels (more for clean off hands then the goats), paper towels, iodine (for dipping the cord after mom has trimmed it), disposable gloves and some nutria drench for mom after she kids (just a squirt in the hand and let her lick what she wants). That is about it. The girls shouldn't have much if any problems. Hope this helps. You guys take care and best wishes. Dean

Thank you! It has been a long time coming, but we are excited! Need to do a little bit more research on what needs to go into the kit. Can't wait to share!
