Wallpaper in one room is the promise it is all over the house. One time I saw a house for sale where they even wallpapered the doors and ceilings. Every house I have ever seen with wallpaper looks the house where time stood still. 😑

Here’s a tip for selling houses that have old style and don’t want to change anything. Don’t sell it to people under 25 and sell it to people with old taste.

One chair in a room that size, a sofa on the back wall and then another sofa around the corner. there is no question it looks better but the layout when you walk through the door looks weird.

The other home sold in "4 months".... wow, Real Estate is so different depending on where you live. Homes here sell in 1 week and often times with multiple offers.

The mom's style was cool in 1990. Went firmly out of style by the end of that decade, steadily, from 90 to 97. Gone by 97. I was right there w her, love the black wallpaper, but watched it become tired. It's the STYLE of wallpaper, not wallpaper itself. This show itself is dated, but Sophie's choices will likely be timeless.

I use wall paper all the time for clients... this however I can tell you.... I would not have even used the papers she put up 20 years ago or even 50 years ago... Hopefully the early 80s Miami Vice Natuzzi sofa got a new home as a donation to a retirement facility...

Wallpaper can be a plus, but not in every room. That black with multi-color wallpaper has similar fabrics- better as draperies or accents.

The first room was wasted space because it only contained a chair and some bookshelves. This house was in a family neighborhood where a family room is more important than a "reading" room and a counter that only accommodates two people is not really an eat-in kitchen, I would have dedicated a portion of the L-shaped front room as an area for a table and six chairs and used the space running across the front of the house as the living room. There would still be room for two separate seating areas. I would then repurpose the dining room as the family room and put the shelving unit that holds the TV in there.

my guess is the home owner secretly hates the changes. she wasn't unhappy with the way the house looked originally. Anyone who hates the color blue has serious style limitations. She owns a pink leather sectional for god's sake. that should be enough to tell you her taste leans heavily towards tacky.

Take the backsplash tiles down! Nothing worse than painted tile! That cheap rug only good for a basement . That chandelier was not valuable, so spray painting it was ok. Spray painting most chandeliers not advisable! Living area needed a 2nd chair & larger rug. These shows hve negatively impacted the design profession.

The host of this show is obviously a television personality and not a legitimate designer, if she was she would know that almost all wallcoverings are either vinyl or vinyl coated and can be wiped off, that's been the case for the past several decades. On the other hand they paint the backsplash tiles! I don't care how good that paint is, it's going to peel like cheap nail polish in no time. Never seen a floral with a black background?! If she was a designer she would have. It's really obvious the prospective "buyers" are plants who were given talking points ahead of time. Do you really need an "expert" to tell you to de-clutter your home and paint the walls a neutral color before putting your house on the market?
