Next Q&A can you cover some topics about the top plates for the smart vac? I've been using mine for a few weeks now and love it. I haven't yet had to make custom gasket grooves which cross paths from previous setups. I know it could cross one perpendicular path like it does on the bottom plate, but multiple at an angle too? Can you seal some previous paths before cutting the new ones? For a shop like mine which does mostly low quantity prototype work, do you recommend drilling and tapping vacuum holes for new setups so that you can close them up later with a set screw? Or can you just plug the old ones in an easier way? I also had a 1/2"x14"x24" aluminum customer part move on me during 1/2" end mill profiling and it had to be scrapped. I assumed that this surface area would have been enough. I had seen you use sandpaper in one of your videos and now that is all I do. Maybe you can clarify exactly how you use it and when. Thanks! Videos are great. -Bryan, Power Move Engineering

We have a few videos on designing and programming top plates and we'll do more. Until then, keep in mind that it doesn't matter where you machine (or machined) a groove - it matters where you place the gasket. New grooves can cross old grooves without any problems.

have you every made an over sized pallet that used two bases? I have a few fixtures that are 18"x30" and I was thinking about using your pallet system for them. Thanks

Yes, often. It requires not using 2 bushings in opposite corners of the pallet and you'll need to rotate the diamond pin of one PPS Base to face the round pin of the opposite base. Hope that all makes sense!

Is there any reason I can't install a pps hardware kit into the bottom of my vise itself? I've got 6in double lock aluminum body parlec vise. Or even any other cast iron vise?
