I feel like I'm watching an entirely different player than how you describe Cagnoni. He's an exceptional defensive player for his size and skillset. He's ABSOLUTELY showing that he has the ability to hang around the NHL pace and play, so hearing you say you think he's not even close (even as a PP specialist) makes no sense to me when he's been by far the best player on the powerplay, and really great 2-way play 5 on 5. Even comparing him to the play of NHL vets that he's played with so far these preseason games, he's been the best d-man, particularly on zone exits and keeping plays alive in the offensive zone. He plays some of the most mistake free hockey I've seen from a d-man his age. If he plays at the same level as he did the last couple pre-season games, I think he 100% deserves a shot to make the opening roster

Yep agreed, if they held our veterans to the same standards, we have no nhl ready d men then.

Yea, I think I generally disagree with their assessment.
@mdrovell1151Ай бұрын
I think he has fine defensive instincts but it has shown in the preseason games that it’s not NHL-ready. Not a slight, he’s not even 20 and will have lots of time to develop. AHL-time may actually be fantastic for him.
@andystover1013Ай бұрын
@@mdrovell1151 I'm certainly not saying he should stay up with the team all year, but more that the sentiment that he's "not even close" is WAY off. And in this last game, the Sharks dressed 1 true top 6 forward (Eklund), a couple bottom 6 NHLers and the rest were a bunch of prospects and AHLers; against a Ducks team that dressed Terry, McTavish, Carlsson, Killorn, etc.. And he played i think 23 minutes, with his paring having the best analytics, and by far the most chance creations from any d-man in that game. He can more than hang with NHLers

Cardwell is my guy!

Great point by Keegan that it seems like the Sharks don't take Gushchin seriously. Guy has done nothing but score every time he gets called up or plays a preseason game. I am a big fan of his and hope he makes it.

2:14:14 Douglas Murray scored a hat trick in the preseason, too, though he was an established NHLer by that point.

No mention of Yegor Rimashevsky? Guy played in the KHL last year and ended the season playing on Dynamo's top line.
@ShengPengАй бұрын
This is fair, but FYI, I ran my top-10 and honorable mentions through multiple sources, no one mentioned Yegor, which might be saying something. I was reminded about missing Svoboda and Pohlkamp

14:45 I went to the Sharks around the Bay thing at Santana Row and got Sturm and Thrun's autographs, then I went to the neighborhood game and got a bunch of autographs there. I skipped Sturm and Thrun, though I made sure I explained the reason. Edit: Chernyshov was at the event giving autographs as well, per the discussion when he came up.

Michkov has been absolutely amazing in all aspects of his game. Scoring, passing, along the boards, in front and benhind the net, protecting the puck etc. Sharks should be back in the playoffs in no time. The amount of skill this guy has shown is truely amazing. Im so glad that Grier is a such a smart GM and drafted him... Oh wait, they took Will Smith.

Let’s not act like Will Smith doesn’t have ridiculous potential, but obviously Michkov should’ve went 2nd in that draft regardless

@@HitmanHockeyCards yes he did. There were teams he said he wouldn’t interview with and we were one of them.

@@NTQ03 no, he never said that. thats flat out untrue. the think is grier is just not good at drafting. he was hell bent on a center and smith was always his target even tho michkov is way better. this year he wanted a big dman even tho buium is way bettter. 20222 he straight up said he wanted quantity over quality so he traded down, passing on mateychuk, nazar,rutger, snuggerud etc. the start of griers yearly bad draft day choices

Literally shit on every prospect except celebrini and askarov. I know it’s kind of your job to be cautious on prospect analysis but Jesus have some confidence in our top prospects.

i like their honesty vs most fans that praise everything grier does like hes god and act like every sharks prospect is mcdavid. sharks fans need more honesty in their lives like these 2 provided
