I was surprised about the price as well, but, then I noticed that the 48 it 12k at this point so...I guess it's about right. No way it'd come in cheaper than the outgoing sporty

I'm wondering if this is going to be the "base" model. Entry level bike going forward. Or are they going to have one more priced just underneath this one?

@@motorcyclemishifts4640 I love it, handles X1000’s better than the old sporty, way faster and just generally feels like a more solid bike. Really no complaints yet.

Like many I still have sub $10k fixed in my brain as Sportster price but should know better. A realistic price is more like $13k anymore. People whine you can get a Japanese bike for less but when I compare it to the European offerings I think Harley’s Rev Max offerings are spot on.

In California, by the time you get out the door, you're probably looking at $18 - $20K. That is nonstarter for me.

I absolutely hated the video. Thought it was total hype. They give you a super expensive, detuned, 975, sportster and then spend the entire video tearing it apart and rebuilding it? Why? Is it incomplete for $15k? Apparently it is. This bike will cost you $16-17k before you can ride one home after freight, surcharges, and dealer fees. It’s a Honda rebel 11oo at double the price and less technology. I hate it. The bike itself would be fine at 11k and 13-14k out the door. It’s still underwhelming for a new bike with a new engine but I guess Harley has started a trend of being slower than everyone else and they don’t want to upset that image. Ridiculous Harley, just ridiculous.

I agree on the price being too high for what it is. My wife loves her rebel 1100 worth every penny. It'll be interesting to see how this bike sells.

Gimme the old nightster from a decade ago and whip the prices down. I love harley. Iconic and its what people think of when the word motorcycle is mentioned. I ride an indian scout bobber, I test rode one and fell in love with it. Its a pulling machine. I felt let down by the new nightster, I was excited for it but harley does not wanna budge on profit taking. I think its a sub 11k bike easy. I'm not a fan of the look of it or the style of the new engine either. I love harley because the word for them IS raw. This bike is NOT raw. I feel it's lost some kind of harley soul in a way. I am a massive fan of the breakout and soft tails. It's a shame.

Sadly between emissions and safety regulations (and the fear of the almighty lawsuit) the hey days of raw bare bones motor vehicles is over. More and more manufacturers are being hit with class action suits for not including safety features readily available. Eventually all that tech will be part of the base price of every model and any mods that alter the factory responses blocked. It’s the sad state of the world. When we were young people did stupid shit and society shrugged and thought “ dumbass that’s what happens”. But ever since someone Sued someone over a cup of hot coffee the mantra world wide is “someone must pay!” It’s not politics or just the US. Blame German lawsuits for much of the current tech being required in cars. I’d love a stripped down bare machine but know they’re pretty much gone. For those days I want that I’ve got a 2003 Sportster. Last of the carbureted, no abs, no electronics models. For a modern machine I’ve got an M8 Street Bob. I’ve already decided I’d trade Bob for a low rider ST if they add RDRS. I really like the rev max motors and don’t think they look bad at all given the tech they’re carrying. I’m not over excited about the Sportster S balloon front tire or Nightster exhaust location but I can see that in a year or two there will be many more models. I’m just hoping they can keep making big bore power cruisers along side them.

I like the new Harley Davidson nightster, but it’s just too high price. But he’s going to pay 1314 grand for a new motorcycle, I would probably get a Indian FTR. It’s about the same price, as a little bigger motor, better horsepower and torque ratings. And you don’t have to live through or cut through all the Harley Davidson height of bullshit.
