About OFF GRID with DOUG and Stacy
In 2010 we decided to sell everything and build a log cabin on 11 acres. We have lived in the log cabin for a decade now with no solar power or wind power plus zero public utilities. *Off grid living *Rain water catchment *Cooking with wood
*Food growing *Cooking from scratch *Raised bed gardening
*Food harvesting *fermenting the harvest *food preservation
*Holistic Remedies like Grandma made *How to make money and live this life
*storing food in a root cellar *DIY Build projects

Most of my life I pressure canned, but canned goods weigh A LOT, and if we had to move, esp in an emergency, how could we move all the weight of canned goods, or even have the space for that? Dehydrated goods are ten times lighter and take about 1/10 of the same space! So do you want one or two jars of something, or a week's worth of food? And if you are shopping in regular grocery stores right now, you are getting something you do NOT want to consume.

Bottom rot on tomatoes is often due to calcium deficiency. You can add garden lime, a tomato fertilizer made with calcium, or gypsum, I think to solve blossom end rot. Tomatoes should also be picked in later afternoon or evening, not in the morning, for the most flavor. Also, if it's going to rain, and you have tomatoes that need picking, pick them before the rain starts for better flavor. As for what's "rockin' " , for me it's Shishito peppers and white Currant tomatoes :).,

My brother, who was an ag guy, put foil strips in his cherry trees to keep the birds out...like that milar tinsel stuff. A motion sensor hoot owl helped in my sister's grapes and garden...she had it attached sitting on top a post, i think it was a solar powered owl... And ropes curled on the ground or streched out, to keep the snakes out...🤷‍♀️

I. Was growing parsley and it seems like the Sun burned it up. I don't know what happened to it. I gave it enough water, it seems like I can't grow anything outside. Things happen to my plants. And my basil is stunt grown It never got any higher than 3 inches and it's We'll small leaves.🎉

I've broke alot and I stopped the medication they gave me. I broke my neck 5ribs and wrist at the same time but I dropped 15ft onto an extension ladder laying on the ground. I feel I healed myself so I dont worry about it but I'm careful and dont eat anything from the store

Tomatoes are doing well but with the sudden hot humid weather, even watering in the morning they are getting fungus wilt. To overcome, I'm letting suckers grow to let new green growth.Sweet potatoes and potatoes, black berries and strawberries did well. Carrots and onions suffer from skunk digging in the bed. I have hope though. Will process and save what I can. Something is not a loss! Herbs are doing well and I was given a mullein head so now I have them growing everywhere. Comfrey every where also, Herbs for medicine are a priority.

I planted Sow right seeds in pots. Louisiana. Heat and heavy rain got them. I moved the tomato plants to the back porch and they are doing better. Hoping to get something from the plants.

My garden has been the exact opposite. Terrible harvest of potatoes and no beets at all, tomatoe plants are growing and blooming but not settling fruit because of the heat. But my cucumbers are going crazy!! 😂

I planted my apple tree 3 years ago and got 2 apples this year for the first time. I broke my arm in January and have been laid up since with the healing due to an infectious bone disease I got, so I was unable to plant everything. My beets and turnips did nothing. Will be planting everything again on the 25th thru the 30th.

I want to live off grid like you guys I’m so sick of this BS living the way they want us to. I remember the time I spent a month on a mountain by myself and fished and Frog to eat. I would walk about 5 miles to the store maybe more seem like it to get other things I needed it was probably farther than 5 miles because sometimes people would pick me up and give me a ride to the store, but then I would have to walk back. I just wanted to see if I could do it. It was the most amazing time of my life. yes I got scared of you timesone time I saw these eyes looking at me and I thought they were or something like that but turns out they were just raccoons lol glad I had a good flashlight and lots of those things to charge your phone just in case
