Hi guys! I appreciate your honesty and I appreciate the authenticity! We are considering Rving in the near future and I just wanted to support what you were saying. You must do what you feel to be safe. You guys are being conscientious about the true world we live in. Doing what you need to be safe is Key. You have a family and want to make sure you make it home to them. Full support! I pray you and all families stay safe out there during your travels. Great video! Thanks for helping to educate others out there or considering to full time!

The best self defense is being aware of your surroundings. Most “bad guys” are looking for easy targets… the person with headphones on or looking down at their phone, etc. Some self defense training is good to have as well. I did several years of martial arts training and the biggest thing I got from that is to be constantly aware of your surroundings and to also project that in your body language. Head up, upright posture, look people in the face, let people know you see them and could identity them. But honestly this is why we have a motorhome. If something goes down I want to be able to leave without having to step outside.

I understand the concern for stray bullets. But in gun safety we are always taught to know what's on the other side of your target before you decide to pull the trigger. I carry everywhere but a good option in an RV of you're afraid of over penetration is a shotgun loaded with salt rounds. I'm a concealed carrier too but I also carry a secondary non lethal option like pepper spray. Usually the pepper spray is enough to get a bad guy to back off, but if that doesn't work then you got no choice sometimes. This is why training regularly is important.
@OurRoadLessTraveled

I seriously thought about that but did not want to have to secure two items. We went this route to only have one weapon to secure and it would fit in the truck. Great comment, thank you for it and watching.

Exactly. This person is what we call a "butR". I have strong doubts if he does hold a CCW/CPL. He is not thinking hard enough about other situations that may arise as well. As far as Canada is concerned, I only visit there for family and I secure my firearms on the U.S. side first. I am in Canada for a short time, and I try to spend as little money as possible. I do not like spending money in nazi territory. Remember that NAZI is the short term version of the national socialist workers party. As far as driving, I love to drive at night due to less traffic. I plan fuel stops for safer areas, and I am armed.

This is a great video. I’ve watched several videos on firearm safety in RVs and I have not seen many aside from yours mention collateral damage -“as the bullet goes through an rv nearby too, or the fact that, for example if someone broke into your rv while you’re sleeping and you have your gun at the ready, there is a potential to shoot a gas line or into the propane tank, especially if you are not properly trained or if you, like so many others who I’ve seen out there who shouldn’t be carrying weapons like old men in their 90s who shake while holding the pistol, and want to shoot someone in the leg to spare their life. Well if you’re in the back of the rig and your propane tank is upfront near the doorway or in that area, you have a problem. What are your thoughts? I’m a 3rd degree black belt and also trained in wing chun kung fu (Ip Man style) which is great for close quarter combat in rvs and planes for instance, but there is inherent danger shooting a pistol while in your rv.

I have taken a lot of heat for even bringing up the possibility of innocent bystanders. I stand by my decision and agree with you that there is much more that can go wrong with firing a gun in an RV than can go right. All of the dangers you list are valid and any true second amendment supporter should recognize it. We do still carry a 9mm and a .45, but the Byrna is the first option, unless someone else produces a gun. I keep the Byrna and the .45 beside the bed and in the truck. Most of the comments against the None Lethal option are from people who have never been faced with taking a human life or like you said probably should not be carrying a weapon to begin with. I took many years of kickboxing and CQB training. Honestly, I'm too old a stiff now to use that as a primary defense.

Great video, and an eye opening comment! Our Constitution and our Bill of Rights were carefully crafted specifically to ensure that we were not deprived of basic rights by the English government. Canada still has remnants of the British legal system and citizens cannot own firearms, cannot own bear spray. And now we are seeing our Constitution eroded by a bunch is pansy do-gooders who create harm not good. We would love to travel in Canada - I guess we can arm ourselves with the old standby - hairspray! Any woman knows it can really hurt!.

I use slim backup cameras that are designed to be mounted over the license plate but can be mounted anywhere all over the outside of my rig. They are cheap and blend in so you can't see them. They are hardwired so you don't need wifi, etc. All 12v and uses little power.

Coincidentally I was about to ask you some questions about your comms etc. The only things I'd add for possible consideration that overlap security and emergency prep would be: 1) 3,2,1 rule backups of important and irreplaceable documents, photos, contact lists etc. that can be accessed away from the rig/home. 2) A bug-out bag in case you suddenly have to vacate the rig in a remote location. 3) First Aid kit and record of any personal medical issues. 4) Automation that can trigger other actions (spotlight cameras/lights, motion detectors, door/window open/close sensors, vibration/glass break sensors etc.) Zigbee devices can be ideal for most of this as they use very little power, don't rely on Internet access or Wifi, and are relatively cheap. 5) Pocket router that can be used in hotel rooms and other public wifi spaces if insecure wifi is the only option. I'm an advocate of the Ring cameras as there's a community of "neighborhood watch" in our area that alert people to prowlers, porch pirates, emergency service activity, wildlife and help to locate lost dogs etc.

Agree …. 3,2,1 for docs, family photos and memiries: 3 locations 2 - local meaning your laptop and an external hard drive 1 - cloud based …. BUT … not all cloud storage is created equal.!!!! You need a long-term permanent solution so that when you expire your documents, family photos, and memories don’t also expire and are deleted and not available to family. I’ve have done extensive research on this, as I’ve lost files, I thought were secure but was wrong….😢 If you are ‘renting’ cloud storage, which most people are tell me, what happens when you stop paying rent Yep, you are evicted.

We do not put our location on social media due to the fact that we were elderly, and we could be a target at a campground, and especially if a person takes photos of their campsite which we do not and posted on the social media, any person could scout out that Campground and cause harm to someone. a person should also look out for other people too, when I say look out for them, be aware of people around you, especially at a campground or even in our daily lives, someone might need help. Looked at those and the reviews say they jam and would not want to discharge that in my RV. I would use a shot round in a 38 special revolver. Unlikely that would penetrate a second RV wall.

I have not had ours jam at all. As for using a .38 I have no opinion on it. I have never owned or shot a .38. One of the other reason for going to the Bryna is its legal in all 50 states and Canada. Not sure if the barrel of a .38 is long enough to get approval to take into Canada. great comment though. Thank you for watching.

This was a great episode. As a minority female solo traveler I would love a 5th wheel but for safety I MUST be able to get from my bed to the drivers seat within seconds WITHOUT and going OUTSIDE so for SAFETY as a female solo traveler for me, my options were class B, super B class C (not a super C) just based on SAFETY. notice I left off class A.. the only one that I did consider based on SAFETY was the Axis and the ACE. they are under 30 ft ⛽ gas. But the for starters I went with a class B... (Promaster chassis) ⛽ It takes gas, I can be inside and get to the drivers seat, great on maintenance a I can always find a mechanic shop ..and simply safe system is great .

I partially agree with the concept, but when you said we don’t go anywhere that we feel we need a gun; I think that is flawed thinking because anyone would say if you are going somewhere you think you need a gun then don’t go there. But it is the malls, the restaurants or the gas stations where a crazy person demands your money or something like that where guns are helpful.

I have a CHL, and I do not like guns. But when you’re alone, boon-docking, in the middle of nowhere, be armed. There are very BAD people in this world. I’m all for non-lethal options, but I’d still keep a backup. I’ve been robbed, burglarized, mugged, and while staying in a crackle barrel overnight, I heard something and locked my truck which also turns the lights on. I didn’t see anyone, but found scratches and marks on my trucks door. Like he said, CAMERAS, I like eufy, and also trail cameras. They will video or take pictures when motion activated.

I agree with you about discharging a firearm in a camper, however, I don’t have many security concerns in most camp grounds. But when boondocking, out in the middle of nowhere, with no one else for miles, I carry a real side arm. Your self defense gun is probably the best I’ve seen, however, it’s a lot of money. Seriously, for inside the small, confined space, a sharpened walking stick or taser would be my choice. Like your videos, hopefully this country will change course by the end of the year. FJB

I can tell you, I would never pull a real gun or a Byrna and not intend on discharging it. I know that sounds horrible, but its the truth. It looks like you have updated your internet connectivity and are using the Verizon Home internet and the T Mobile home internet equipment. is that correct? This looks different than what you described in your internet setup video from a year ago. I am curious if you have had location locking issues with the Verizon home internet solution.
@OurRoadLessTraveled
@OurRoadLessTraveled 7 ай бұрын
This setup is different. Before we were using a sim form a tmobile phone on the magenta plan. We switched to T-Mobile and Verizon home due to cost. We have not had any issues with location locking. With that said, T-Mobile just announced T-Mobile away, for RVs @ $160 a month. It is expected that starting the first week of May they are going to location lock the home internet. There is another non-profit company out there called Calyx that is backended by T-Mobile and we are investigating that option to replace T-Mobile home. Oh, and the sims in the T-Mobile and Verizon home internet would not work in the peplink. well, they would but would drop down to 300gb a month like a hot spot. We opted to leave them alone and creat a wireless bridge to their devices.

The Byrna is just a standard large (.68") paintball gun, at an obscene price. It is also a firearm according to some states, where simply "firing a projectile with stored energy" defines a firearm. Other states define a firearm as using gunpowder, and that's where the Byrna is legal. It is still a concealed weapon if you conceal it. Paint ball guns are more common and less expensive, and just as powerful, in the .50" size with a great number of paintballs, including teargas and pepper spray and a variety of soft and hard balls.
@OurRoadLessTraveled
@OurRoadLessTraveled 7 ай бұрын
While i agree with you from a technical standpoint, I think it would disingenuous to refer to it as a paintball gun. Here is why, Paintball guns are usually a smaller round that takes less energy to project. Most manufactures and paintball facilities cap the velocity at 300fps. If the Byrna used the same size projectile it would have a much faster velocity. As it is Byrna has a muzzle velocity over 340 fps. Now I know that there are paintball guns that shoot up to 1000 fps but they are not the norm, are not the same compact size, and the cost is comparable. I don't discredit your comparison, the technology is the same, just a different fit, form, and function.

There is a lot that goes into the physics of the weapon, and a video can be made to show basically whatever you want to present. Each CO2 cartridge only provides max velocity for the first few discharges. It looses power after that. Is it perfect, no, but I have not heard of someone being accidentally killed with one. Will it do any good with the other person has a gun pointed at you, probably not. Its not perfect, but its the best solution for us at this time.
