Spending a year on a project of this magnitude is well worth the investment. Put it in perspective of you didn’t put off your circumnavigation. This is just part of that journey. You should feel free to stop anywhere else for as long as you feel without self recrimination that you’re somehow letting yourself down. When the videos stopped I was worried the project had overwhelmed you. Seeing this coming together so well is amazing ! Ayanna joining you or any crew is a huge positive ! Ayanna brings a big positive energy that is infectious. I hope she can join you two.

Yeah, it would be great to see the Pirate Princess back, and I have no idea how to spell her name so I'm going to guess it's Aiyane. And if you want ideas for really cool projects to get started with, how about converting your monohull into a catamaran, just simply slice the hull in half lengthways and join it back up, it would give you a little more space all over the boat.

It's so lovely and refreshing to see your excitement and happiness about the dodger and being in Barcelona (nearly a stone's throw away from Nazaré in Portugal where I am busy rebuilding my beloved boat)! To be honest I missed everything in between and have only made it to - I think - episode 38 or so, you were nearly done with laminating the detached grid back in place. I loved the way of your hands-on approach and getting the job done, at the same time keeping the spirits up, it was lovely to see! Now, I wanted to see if I can find the next episode to watch it, at the same time wondering how you're doing and where you are when this video popped up. Well done guys, time for me to subscribe 😊! Big hugs and fair winds from Nazaré xx Dody

First of all, very nice to see you two. I miss seeing you guys interacting with your two ‘children’. Lol. Their personalities are quite charming and they have a love for sailing as much as you guys. Secondly, Aiyana would make for an amazing crew choice! The five of you make for such a fun and exciting adventure. If she’s willing and able, I can’t imagine finding someone else more suitable and exciting. As for your ‘short’, year long project, it’s looking fantastic. Nice job! Maybe you should keep the faux snow leopard paint job. Although, it does seem to have an ugly 70s vibe going on, so maybe scrap that idea. Again, good to see you two. Stay healthy. I will look forward to the next video.

The anticipation for how this project will all come together is now satisfied! I have questions/concerns, however: Will the windows be permanent or removable (or, at least, "openable")? I'm somewhat concerned about the interaction with wind and the function/strength of the davits and mainsail traveler. Otherwise this continues to be an awesome project and can make your travels much more efficient, convenient and comfortable. CONGRATULATIONS AND THANKS FOR SHARING YOUR JOURNEY WITH US ALL.

I'm sure you've been to the Sagrada Família, but don't leave Barcelona without enjoying a Paella. My favourite is at Bodega Joan, a traditional Cantalan restaurant. Enjoy! PS: The other city is Valetta, Malta.

Sailors do not often stay to long in one place. It seems to be the nature of the beast. A little time, see the sites, make a few friends and enjoy sails together, thats about it. Hiya guys, love your show and love Barcelona. Have you thought about installing a pad eye above your outboard stowage position which you could attach a pulley block to, this would assist stowing and deploying the outboard. Another pad eye above where the outboard would be when the dinghy is in the water but drawn under the davits could also be used to assist in the complete transfer of the motor from dinghy to rail storage and back again. Just a suggestion 🕺🏼 ⛵️
@ricktaylor140016 күн бұрын
It’s definitely looking really good, and I’ve been watching on Engineering the whole way through. This video here was really good to get information on how this will look; you haven’t mentioned painting/finish for the new dodger yet… at all. I always liked the look at you put it in place for test fit each time, but I just couldn’t love it for the carbon fiber! I was thinking you would have it remain black and polish it up to give it that typical carbon fiber look… that’s okay on a Lamborghini or McLaren, but a sailboat? So it was awesome to see even just the fairing filler in white overtop of the black makes a HUGE difference, including making it look lighter and fit in more. So VERY happy to hear you will be painting it… I would suggest use the same overall (white) color of your boat, and paint some striping design on it that maybe ties in the bottom of the boat color (although that may be too black if I remember correctly). The old blue of the dodger would be a good design color… whatever, my point is to not make it all a contrasting color to the boat so it doesn’t become too much of a main focal point. I’m SURE you’ll figure it all out, as you already HAVE, just throwing my 2¢ in for what it’s worth! Small piece of advice… as much as you want to get back out there… if you get it to a point of “it looks okay for now”, the chances of returning to complete the project decline SO MUCH! Life has a way of taking over, and suddenly you’re traveling with a 90% finished project that you’ll always not be 100% happy with simply because “we had to get out there again”. Again.. for what that’s worth to you, but I’ve done it a few times over my 50’ish years and can’t tell you often I’ve regretted not finishing that last 10% because it was “good enough”! Cheers from 🇨🇦, looking forward to the next video on either channel!! 🤠👍🏼☮️

Thank you for the update. The boat is looking amazing. Can't wait for all of the diving and traveling adventures.
Most glass resin systems are approx 90-ish% curred in about 3 days. Full cure at 99% is sometime later, depending on your system. Engineered strength should be good at a week. Please be careful of any stress tests within a week of your structural layups. Beautiful work. You could sell your skills to other boat owners as consultants.

Great idea to get just it good enough to sail and then going out for proof testing. I’d say you want the be able to lift the tender with the outboard installed. You might find that the highest load comes from the sail as you plan to have the traveler installed atop the hardtop. That’s going to put a lot of side load on your master piece. Great work and you’ve created a beautiful design.
