Azura laid eggs!! Unfortunately most were infertile (slugs), but hey, at least a few appear to be good! Maybe only one? At least it's better than last year when we got ALL slugs. Fingers crossed we get some beautiful babies!

@@conlon4332 they do I'm pretty sure? A lot of people find feedings disturbing so it makes sense that they flag them. Some people report them as well since they are disturbing to many people. People who feed bugs like cockroaches also can get reported I'm fairly certain.

Yay. More hognoses. Azura tried at least. it always the hognoses this time who keep trying and sometimes fail. I think we had two others who tried at least. Pfff, I love how construction ended up being a season for them. Maybe Azura will finally be lucky with eggs this time. Maybe Azura should be one of the first females paired with the males. Maybe that will finally help Azura out

I have personally noticed that the hognoses push the moss towards the entrance to their lay box. Almost like they might be trying to protect their eggs and themselves from potential predators while laying.

If you ever get three eggs again you should do a pokemon starter theme! (Ex. Charmander, Bulbasaur, & Squirtle) I also wonder if mama is just not a good breeder? She has slugged out before. But then again could be the males too. Do the males have a history of not pairing successfully as well? Regardless great video!

Actually, there might be a way to tell who the dad is. If I remember right, you paired either AD or Farkas with another female, didn't you? Depending on how fertile/what that clutch turns out to be, you'll be able to figure it out. If you didn't, try that next year, pairing the same male you pair with Azura to another female regardless of genetics, ideally one you know to lay fertile eggs often. See if that female has a lot of slugs. If so, you know the male isn't doing it right. If not, try the other male the next year.

FYI - I've noticed on other videos that some of the lids have crossed out Sharpie dates/names on them. you can erase Sharpie by covering the Sharpie marks with dry erase and then wiping away.

I read a study that said “flipping eggs might correlate with neonate death/survival”. It read as if flipping the eggs didn’t kill the embryo but caused hatchlings to die sometime after hatching.
