Dr. Phil

Күн бұрын

Promotional consideration provided by Cast Centers. Harv and Lynne say their son, Mark, is an adolescent living in a 41-year-old man’s body. They say Mark is homeless and living in his beat-up car held together with bungee cords and glue. But Mark says he is “car camping” and not homeless. He says that he chooses to live in his car because it gives him the freedom to travel which broadens his horizons. His sister, Jill, says not only is Mark living in his car, but he was also using it to earn a living driving for a ridesharing company, until the hood popped on the freeway while he was driving a client, and Mark got fired. Mark’s family says he needs to get his life together, but Jill says their mother first needs to stop enabling Mark. (From Dr. Phil Season 17)

That’s not an excuse for living in a car and not getting on his feet. Living in car by choice is not normal at all. His car needs major repairs and so on. Better yet, he needs a job, an apartment, and money not this. I’ve been where he’s at and I have 9 mental disorders, however, that didn’t stop me from trying to get back on my feet and get money and a roof over my head. So if I can get out of that issue then so can he. Christ would not want him living like this.

@@tbusman1you don’t live in everyone else’s shoes. It’s good you have that instilled in you. Undiagnosed autism is crippling. Knowing you are autistic is less so because you can get help. @DOCTRJ With an upper middle class family he had it easier than most and was able to get a proper diagnosis. He apparently spent his 20s smoking dope and loafing around. this man is showing a ton of autistic traits-poor to no eye contact, weird facial expessions, poor to no interpersonal relationship skills and poor to no romantic skills. He looked very confused and shocked by the things his family was saying. He has no sense of danger...even if it's not autism he has something nurological going on, more then just ADD, and I get that his family has been dealing with him for years so that's why they're acting horrible now..but honestly it's their fault...his parents should have gotten him tested years ago, should of made sure he took whatever medicated he needed..figured out what kind of learning style he required. Instead they bring him onto tv and belittle him..his sister is legit the worse kind of person anybuddy could have as a sister..instead of loving him she spent the entire time smirking at him and every chance she got she had a rude AF comment to say "see what im dealing with?" no I don't, but I see what your brother who's already struggling is dealing with having you as a sister. I feel really bad for this man and I really hope he's able to get the help he needs to be able to get to the step next of his life.

Even though he's a grown man this is a FAMILY problem IMO. I think his parents should of had him tested in his early teen years. He could be on the spectrum, he could have other issues. Just the way he is unable to read women's behaviors towards him tells us he can be easily delusional. He is convinced that he has good judgement and that there's nothing wrong in living the way he lives.... Instead, the parents just enabled his status quo with money. They obviously don't understand him. And his sister is fed with her brother, she can't relate to him. This family needs help.

Something is off about the sister, being all jokey about the suffering her brother is going through. Look, some blame can be put on the brother, but he isn't entirely at fault here.

I wish there was updates on some of these folks! I mean be nice to see the best part of it all sometimes!! I love Dr. Phil and his wife Robin. I love these shows and love what he does and what they both stand for so not complaining at all. Just wish we could see the best part sometimes and know rather the help worked and where they are now. 💖🙂

Living in a car is a wise move when you are unable to cope with more responsibility than that. For generations nomads and travellers lived like this ... housing is so ridiculously expensive. He takes care of his hygiene... laundry etc. Does not bother anyone and is grateful for what he does have.

This is a kind man. His family should be ashamed of themselves. His naïveté is not something to make fun of - in fact it shows his purity of heart. I’m surprised how Dr. Phil allowed them to be on the offensive this whole episode. The family dynamic is obviously a huge weight for this man to live with and the “ganging up” throughout the episode feels unfair.

I mean, he knows himself identifies with reality. He seems more with it in normal than his family. They’re narcissist and quite frankly he’s capable just as anyone else he just lacks support and worth the expectations. He needs drive and motivation as well as positive belief he could be an engineer he could be a lawyer he could do anything just like any of us. He’s definitely honest and he’s honest with himself and he’s not necessarily a strung out wreck, causing in creating havoc and terrorizing or hurting his community.

I laughed at a few things, but also found a lot of it sad. I don't know about anyone else, but I didn't get the impression that lack of motivation was his only hindrance. It seemed to me that he might be a bit delayed.

Just leave him alone. He's not hurting anyone. She seems very jealous about the money their parents spend on him. Just because he doesn't have a conventional life, that doesn't mean he's wrong. He does need to realise that just praying for stuff you want doesn't work as God isn't a magic genie! However, if he wants to pray for help and he seems thankful to God for all he does have. God says he will provide all we need, and it seems as though He is doing this for this lovely chap.

🤔 The fact that his parents have a house yet allow their child to live in a car speaks volumes about their priorities and sense of responsibility. It’s often easier for parents and siblings to point fingers at him for struggling in life-labeling him a failure in material terms-than it is to reflect on their own shortcomings. Instead of asking themselves whether they’ve provided enough support, guidance, or emotional stability, they shift the blame onto him, distancing themselves from any accountability. True family support means stepping in during tough times, not abandoning someone when they’re at their lowest. The mom is a sweetheart

Poor guy, I feel sad for him. He only wants the things that most people want in life. Love, a family a good life. Mark seems very basic and needs some social skills and understanding of how to present himself. He is very honest, he works, cares about his appearance and has hope for a better life. I know he is going to get a lot of help and understanding from Coach Bayer. Good luck and God bless you Mark

I know actually we have an entire generation of people who have chosen to go to school or not but choose a job remotely so they can do it wherever they want. They’re choosing not to have kids and not even necessarily own anything and they’re happily on the beach with their laptops all day long so what’s the problem nownot that I agree with that Lysol or anything but fair is fair and honesty and truth is what it is. People have a lot of bitching to do but no boundaries no guidance no support.

I haven't watched the whole video yet, but sometimes there is nothing wrong with living in your car. Times are tough in the USA, financially. Heck, there are even some teachers and university professors who feel like they need to live in their cars because of the low amount of money they earn.

There seems to not be any remorse or guilt accepting money from his parents or sister. That is his parent’s retirement money he has spent. He didn’t state any intention or plan to ever pay them back. That isn’t Christian behavior.
