Riley and Elayna Your positive attitude serves you well, and you followed your intuition. I feel this will be a wonderful outcome for all involved, creator and users alike. Congratulations to all involve for sticking it out, you have dropped comments and hints from time to time and now it becomes real. What a wonderful name for the App “Sea People” even the name is a very good choice. BTW your App will need to evolve, have patience and an Open Mind, go with the flow of what feels right, piece of mind and a calm disposition will serve you well. I for one will be sitting back and nodding my head and wishing you well!

Elayna, could you ever have imagined what would come from your idea to post a video back some 10 yrs ago. Wow, I have been watching you guys for a very long time. It’s not surprising that the O.Gs of sailing channels would be so involved with such a trend setting app of today. What a great team. The struggles are what makes us, so thanks for showing the background ❤

Nice one! Jean-Michel, a Canadian and from Ottawa... makes me proud that he could help facilitate the evolution of this much needed app.. As a boater from Ottawa for the last 50 years, it's much appreciated that there is now a platform to help consolidate and serve the boating community, though I don't envy your teams task of managing the app as it explodes in popularity. Truly, best wishes and congrats!

As someone who has worked in software development for over 13 years - and now manages software Engineers - this was FASCINATING to see it from the perspective of the original idea. Congrats on the app and its success so far! 💜 I downloaded it in Beta and reported a couple bugs (bc that's just what I do haha) and see they've already been fixed, which means the team you have on it now is doing a great job!! 🥰

Awww, you're a better person than me! 30 yrs in software development and I stood back, letting them make the mistakes without my interference! I haven't yet looked at it. Side issue: I was slightly involved in the first outsourcing the coding of some systems for a well known British flag carrying airline to India: lots of issues, lots of passionate desire to do well without the necessary technical and industry knowledge, and strange working hours. Interesting times.

Me too: systems engineer and yachtie. A great story, with so many truths about creating a startup, and developing software, eg especially 'Plan to build two systems, because you will end up throwing the first version away anyway." etc. I am so pleased that they got top experienced help before the venture went too pear-shaped. Perhaps they could have reached out / networked a bit more a bit earlier, but that is too easy to say. I am looking forward to spending some time with the app.

One thing to keep in mind is data security as you will be reporting and storing data location on people. If that is compromised it could put people's lives at risk. Everything the app does which helps people meet and connect can also be used to stalk, steal identities, theft, or even kidnap. Finding the right balance of features and security will be critical. Hopefully you have created a feature where people can "go dark" for periods of time for their own privacy or security.

I have followed you for years. This episode is the best! It's a perfect example of storytelling, with so much passion, very good footage, and a bonus for letting the people talk and explain their own thoughts at their own pace. It´s amazing what different people can achieve by working together; hippie sailors, coding nerds, and tech gurus! Of course, there´s a lot of blood, sweat, and tears behind this, nothing is for free. Happy greetings from Sweden!

Firstly I'm not sure how this “film” documentary was put together and produced, but it has to be the best and most professional production yet. But secondarily you guys helped make this happen “behind the scenes” while carrying on with your day job, specifying a new boat etc and bringing up 2 young kids afloat. You should be very proud of your achievements. Just don’t burn out. And well done!

This is mind-blowing. My Wife doesn't even get KZbin, doesnt understand it. But i see the impact it has. "Whats meant for you will not pass you by" and this is a true case of success really is no accident. The journey you guys have travelled feels like it has all compelled in this part of your life. To build a big community through a passion for sailing, to make that community thrive through connection on youtube then to address the real communities which you have experienced through the thousands of people you have met and build an app that promotes a lifestyle which says "get off your device and meet people face to face!" strikes such a callback to how life used to be. It's amazing. I'm in awe! I love your journey, maybe followed it loosely for the last 3-4 yrs or so but this is beyond words. Congratulations!!!!

I am American and I live in Sardegna Italy aboard my 10 meter sail boat (thinking it would be short term because I was renovating a house here but am still aboard due to complications with my reno).... but I have thought for the last year or so - it is hard to connect with other people in the real world who are "sea people" and this is just so amazing. I can hardly wait to check out the app and give it a go. It is right in the "wheelhouse" of what I needed .... a sailor, fearless and renaissance woman at heart.... thank you guys for making this app! I have followed you guys for most of that time and I look forward to your weekly post, I will be 90 next year so my sailing is now done vicariously, I can not wait for you to go to the inland sea of Japan, I was there in 1954/55/56 in the military, I hope you can visit Miyagima (think that's how it's spelled) and walk under the Turi on the beach at low water, back then there was small narrow quante street with shops and cafes, then nip across to Hiroshima to visit the Bomb Memorial, it was a great education for an 18-year-old youth. I'll get onto the APP as soon as possible. All the best, take care. Noel in Melbourne....

OMG! The intro was fantastic, really, like a proper feature length film; and then to lift a scene from "The Big Short" and have Elayna explain how the app works, really takes us to a different dimension! In our space-time continuum? This kinda warps the mind, and, how many takes were require for Elayna to do that scene and how drunk did she get - LOL!

Thank you, thank you, thank you. You all make boating seem possible even at my age of 67. With what you have done for the boating community, which is a loving community, there are a lot of great adventures to come for every boater who treads water. Lots of love to you all, you all are the greatest. Pete.

Coming from Tech, I have a question that I would appreciate having an answer for (even though that I know it’s highly likely that I won’t get an answer for it) Before I get too invested into the app, what’s your plan to actually monetize it? I’m assuming investors actually want a return on their investment. And server costs and developer/maintenance costs aren’t cheap either. Are you guys planning an exit? What I don’t want is to start using this app and then slowly, the app getting shittier with monetization strategies that make the experience terrible.

We won’t throttle the user experience to make it shittier. But yes we need to make money eventually.

Unbelievable I have goose bumps all over and tears. The sea and the ocean has always had my heart. Elayna when you said "So thats the difference, that's what we're trying to do, get people to actually SEA PEOPLE. Mic drop. You and Riley and the boys are truly an inspiration. What I always tell my two 25 and 27 year old daughters "Don't look back, You aren't going that way" Lets go. I love this. 🤩🌎🏝🤩 Stay Safe! See ya on your App!

Bless you all and your extended teams, for your passion, vision and service to the community. After watching your channel for many years, it was apparent the difficulties you faced and the hurdles you must clear to accomplish the simplest of tasks like buying groceries, fuel, medicine, etc. Not to mention the immense challenges like deciphering complex and arcane immigration, local laws and regulations, along with boat repairs weather monitoring and the like. This will be a critical tool to exchange information, improve the safety and enjoyment of Cruzers all over the world. I am wishing you heaps of success.

Congratulations, this is awesome. Have been following you for years and Im a boater, but Ive been through exactly the same journey with an App for fostering and foster carers. It’s an emotional roller coaster. It’s tough but the end is worth it. Like everything you guys do, it’s spotless and impressive.

Congratulations on seeing your ideas come to fruition! We are almost the farthest we can be from the ocean where we live in Canada, but do love watching your videos to get a taste of what the boating life would be like. Time spent on our kayaks is the closest we will get to boating.
