Our Suffering Savior

Of all the possible symbols of religion: the seated Buddah, the dancing Krishna, the crescent moon etc. does Christianity choose the Cross as it's best symbol ? Why does the sacrament we are to repeatedly partake of point to the agonizing tortuous death of crucifiction? We consider this question in this sermon.
