About Dude Dad:
Hi! I'm Taylor Calmus, a Colorado-based actor/comedian. I started Dude Dad© two weeks before my son Theo was born as a way to stay creative while learning to be a father. My wife Heidi and I now have 3 kids and over 300+ videos. My purpose for the channel is to entertain, enlighten and inspire.
In addition to Dude Dad©, I have been in numerous TV shows, commercials, and have regular appearances on Jimmy Kimmel Live. I will also be hosting my own TV show called "Super Dad" on the new Magnolia Network / Discovery+. Heidi and the kids will also be a part of the show. I am originally from the rural community of Howard, South Dakota.

Yup, I definitely cried. My suprise #5 baby was born at home in 2020. She came so fast, I was completely alone. I caught her and held her close until help came. She had a breathing scare too(while still at home). I really felt your birth story and I'm giving Heidi the biggest virtual hug. Sending love and prayers to your beautiful growing family!! I love your dad instincts. People talk about a mother's instinct, but often leave out a father's, which deserves more of an emphasis. You made his first moments in this world much easier. Well done! On a side note, awesome editing to this video! Really great!

Dads can even go through their own pregnancy symptoms and can have post partum depression. I think most people don't realize the physical effects Dads go through, let alone the emotional.

Dads definitely deserve more recognition! When me and my brother were little, our parents took us to their friends’ house. They had this big in-ground pool. My brother, who was about 3, wandered off from the adults and fell into the pool. They were busy with something and didn’t notice it. Suddenly our dad turned around, with two or three giant leaps he was at the pool and pulled my brother, who was face down in water, out. Nobody noticed or saw anything, but our dad somehow knew.

I felt the same way leaving my baby in the NICU. Hes currently my first and only. I remember being thankful that I at least didn't have another child at home to worry about so I was able to spend most of my time with my baby. But I broke down ten times on the way to the car and even days later when I'd have to leave him.

I'm a retired nurse with some high risk OB experience. Meconium aspiration is serious, as you have seen. I'm so glad Kelso is doing well so far. If you have to go and he has to stay awhile, it will be really hard on you. I had to do this with one of my kids and leaving without your baby is rough. But he is getting the care he needs, and you will have him home with your family soon. ❤

Got emotional with the talk about watching Heidi prepare the last week. Seeing her getting ready and empowered despite knowing how painful it is.. so good to see. I’m currently on my 7th pregnancy(third surviving baby so far) and I am having a lot of anxiety remembering labor (did both babies before without epidurals) and how hard it is. But recently I keep getting reminded that I was built for this and I can do it. And this video helped me a lot. Thank you for sharing. ❤️ Edit-okay I didn’t see the even more emotional stuff til after I wrote this and wow that is so much to happen after having your baby! Prayers!

Thank you for sharing your story, this is super inspirational for want-to-be moms like me! I've always felt that I'll probably need to forgo epidurals (I don't do well with pain meds) and I'd also like to have a natural birth if possible. People always say that it's semi-impossible to do and I was feeling discouraged. It's good to hear other women's stories and see that it is possible even in the present day. So thank you this really blessed me!! Wishing you the best on your delivery journey!

My neice was in the same situation. But the nearest hospital to treat her was 90 miles away. My sister couldn't be there for several days. She pulled thru & she's an adult now living her life! Congratulations family! Pulling for you Kelso!

I wonder if it’s something about the 4th! My SIL had her 4th so quickly - we were supposed to watch her olders when she had the baby and she was perfectly fine at dinner… The next morning we woke up to a picture of the baby! I had missed the call and she had the baby after about 2-3 hours of labor. Edit: and my mom’s 4th was born before my dad could park the car.

@@Rosie_C My first baby was born 8 weeks ago, only 26 mins after my water broke & pushing for only 3 mins! If the next babies are faster I will have to be prepared lol because we got to the hospital 20 mins before he was born.

My little guy ended up in NICU on a cpap and it was the roughest 4 days of my life. He is 5 months old now and doing fantastic. Praying Kelso recovers quickly and gets to come home.

That's so hard. My twins were born via emergency c-section (just this December) and I couldn't see them for close to 36 hours and it was so hard. The first night I could hear the babies in other rooms crying and being comforted, but mine felt like they were on another planet. I'm so happy he's doing well 😍

Our third baby came so fast as well and she breathed in amniotic fluid and we were so worried. She was able to cough it up and they monitored her closely because she was also getting phototherapy as well right after birth. I’m so sorry you didn’t get your golden hour with your sweet boy. But grateful your care team recognized his needs and he is being well cared for. Best wishes to you all! And congratulations on that sweet baby boy!!

I’m currently feeding lunch to my 1.5 year old baby who also aspirated Muconium. 1.5 years since he was in the NICU in the same exact scenario. My gosh this brought up so many emotions for me, but it was just one short page on the book of our lives with him

It is so hard being without the baby after delivery, and going home without your baby... experienced that just 2 months ago, and it is definitely a rollercoaster of emotions! But God gave strength and patience to get through those long 12 days, and now she is home and doing well ❤
