Proverbs 6:16-19 (NIV) 16) There are six things the Lord hates seven that are detestable to him: 17) haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, 18 ) a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are quick to rush into evil, 19) a false witness who pours out lies and a person who stirs up conflict in the community.

As a believer who is also a leader I want to offer another perspective. We have 2 choices in this election. Typically policies matter as the primary criteria for voting however this election has forced a different prioritization based on the 2 candidates in this race. Character and leadership skills to lead are typically not the issue because you normally have 2 candidates who possess both and the primary difference is policy. It is clear you are Trump supporters based on your comments and that is your right. I don’t have any issue with that. The challenge I have with evangelicals is that they completely dismiss and ignore character and leadership, which is a critical requirement to be President, when it comes to Donald Trump. We have a former President who literally speaks hate out of his mouth and on his social platforms, spent 4 years as President on Twitter complaining about anything and everything, calls immigrants aliens, incited a mob to riot and attack the US Capitol, this week spoke of a golfers private parts as a badge of honor, proudly stated he grabs women by the “p***, struggled to lead us through the Covid crisis, his wife has not been with him on the campaign trail this year and the list goes on. These are not 2nd hand accounts, all you have to do is listen to him speak and follow him on social media. But yet many evangelicals say, vote your values and choose someone who is most closely aligned with the Bible but “disregard”what the Bible says about Godly character??

I agree 100%. In Trump’s case, in 2016 he championed the 6 week heartbeat bill which protected fetuses over 6 weeks old from being aborted but he is now changing his stance to supporting 16 week abortions. 92% of fetuses are aborted by 16 weeks. Trump’s followers (aka worshippers) still tout him as a “pro life” leader when he is actually quite close to being as pro choice as they come. He is a snake and will continue to do whatever it takes to secure the popular vote and solidify his power even if that means changing his policies to suit popular demand and completely back tracking on his so-called “conservative” beliefs

John and Lisa, While I agree with your admonition to honor the leaders and respect all, I have a few observations and questions to stimulate deeper biblical thinking. I believe that the issue of character is much more important than it is presented in any go-vote message these days. When we dismiss unrepentant sexual sin, a torrent of slanderous, hateful, divisive rhetoric, lies, and dictatorial aspirations of our nation’s leader, we lose our high moral ground to criticize the moral decline of this nation. How can we judge sexual immorality of the liberal left if we excuse our leader’s adulterous behavior? Don’t we compromise the integrity of the gospel and our witness by disregarding the moral character of our representative? Pagan world is watching us and making their judgment about our faith based on our choices. Secondly, I believe that spreading hateful slanderous rhetoric and promoting animosity is as egregious as murder in God’s eyes. Is it merely a rhetorical device when Jesus says that “anyone who is angry with his brother will be subject to judgment” and anyone who says to his brother, “Raca”, is answerable to the Sanhedrin”? Is apostle John exaggerating when he says that “anyone who hates his brother is a murderer”? I find it extremely harmful that a candidate who claims to represent Christian values, uses slanderous, hateful rhetoric like no other politician. In fact, he brought our standards & expectations down so low that most of his followers think that his rhetoric is the norm in politics. MAGA has been discipling the church for so long that we don’t even mind that they use God’s name to prop up Trump’s political campaign. Thirdly. For me the holiness of God’s name is weightier than any political issue. It’s a tier one issue, if you will. Is the third commandment less important than the sixth? Am I idealistic? Yes. But so is Jesus. He did not side with the Jewish “moral” elite in the culture war of his days. He chose the way of preaching the gospel, humble service and sacrifice over the way of political power. And lastly, do you really believe in God’s sovereignty? I do and I absolutely trust that God can put the right kind of evil in the government to fulfill His purposes for this country and for the world. He is absolutely able to do it without me compromising the holiness of His name, my integrity and my witness.
@saramartinez103Ай бұрын
Your perspective is rooted in the fashionable hate of Trump. We are not electing him to be our pastor, nor a leader in our church. We are voting for him because of his policies being closer to our principles and Christian values. You are using the verses that are supposed to be directed to our brothers and sisters in Christ. The rulers, kings and Presidents are a different subject and John and Lisa addressed that on the video. I am assuming you won't vote because for you the moral character of the person is more important.Maybe you will vote for the other candidate God bless you
@Geenster0128Ай бұрын
100% the sad truth is that there just isn’t any godly candidate this time around. Both candidates struggle with basic moral truths. Sitting this election out & letting America reap the fruit of her wickedness is probably what’s best for us Christians to do. Should we continue to fight for our values? Yes. But the Republican candidate is simply not worthy of Christian votes. He can be bought. He has turned his back on the unborn. We have a chance four years from now. But we have to let this man go.
@stasiadarling8159Ай бұрын
@@saramartinez103 On the contrary, I feel like a lone voice in the dessert crying out against my fellow believers defending Trump as the champion for Christian values. I have not drawn my conclusions about his moral character from the media. I listen to his own words and read his “truths” and tweets. “For out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks”. Listen to his words about immigrants, his opponents, his former staff members/advisors who have disagreed with him on his election claims, about Putin, Xi Jinping, & other dictators, about how a celebrity can treat women like objects and get away with it, read his Christmas and Easter posts, think about how he has changed his platform from decidedly pro-life to pro-reproductive rights, how he does not shy away from messianic comparisons. Think about how his rhetoric has influenced the church and what it has done to our gospel witness. For the first time in the history of the conservative movement, its leaders have come up with the “policy over personality“ propaganda point to distract us from one of the most important principles in electing a leader. You should think and pray about it and if you still believe he is a lesser evil and worth compromising your integrity for, definitely go and vote out of that conviction. But please don’t make it out to be a fight between good and evil, don’t coerce other believers to vote for policies if they have other convictions, and be prepared to repent and oppose Trump if he turns on us after he gets elected.

The Bible clearly condemns us for speaking out against people we don’t like for the same faults and or conditions of the heart that we overlook in those we do like. The Word of God explicitly tells those who are called Christ-ians in 2 Chronicle 7:14, “ "If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and I will heal their land.” Our country is at a precipice of imploding because Christians are not following God’s lead and giving others the right of free will. Instead of us allowing others to make their own choices, we exert our will on others just like the enemy of our souls does. There are blessings that come with freely obeying God. Let’s stop talking about it and be about it. Pray that God’s will be done. Amen!

Hey John and Lisa, I honor you both and I’ve always believed that your teachings are anointed. I know that sometimes , there’s a gray area on the scripture you quoted about God putting people in place of authority and approving them, not necessarily appointing them. I totally agree with what Lisa said.I know that God is never surprised of any leader that’s being placed in power. We also know that God will not interfere with the choices of men just like when Israel needed a king , they ended up with a Saul. Although we know that Saul did not start out to be evil, but he eventually did . We can all agree that it is also the People’s choice of who they vote for. unfortunately not too many seek the Holy Spirit and ask who to vote for. He knows all things and he is the best person to ask who the rightful person is. He is the spirit of truth and and when he gives us the truth, it will set us free. That’s what happened to me in 2016. I had a specific person in mind to vote for but on my way to the voting polls, The Holy Spirit specifically told me that the person I had in mind was not God’s choice and he told me who I needed to vote for so I did and he won .

I believe in a country like ours where we have a democratic process, policy alone should not be the driving force in choosing a candidate. Paul and the early Christians did not have that luxury. Integrity of a candidate matters. Sadly, the moral decline has been so drastic that we now have to overlook integrity for policy.
@jaymkz3225Ай бұрын

This conversation encourages me because it reminds me Jesus' reign has already begun. The Bevere's gracefully modeled humanity, kindness and self-control and contended for the united approach God describes through Paul in Philippians 2:1-5. It also encourages all believers in Jesus to vote rather than compartmentalizing our stewardship and sitting out on election day. This video concerns me because it implies that voting for one candidate is more Christ-like or biblical than voting for another as if one candidate is obviously more or less godly than their opponent. This is a dangerous and errant argument and divides the body of Christ- intentionally or unintentionally. Paul Bevere said "most of the time, you're not gonna like the two candidates. What you have to do is pick the one that most stands with biblical values." Then Lisa Bevere added, "don't vote personality, vote principal," which implies there is a surefire measurement for all Christians to identify which candidate's principals and policies are in line with the Word of God, and their character is not important, or at least not as important. This is not what the Bible teaches, though. In reality, both candidates claim to believe in Jesus. Kamala Harris and Donald Trump have both spoken with/ before churches and crowds of Christ followers, more and more frequently in the last 30 days. In the past, Donald Trump has said he cannot recall ever asking God for forgiveness and Kamala Harris has said she supports women choosing to abort their children. In a speech earlier this year, Donald Trump stated that we are all accountable to our Creator, who is God, and in recent interviews and a CNN town hall Kamala Harris stated she prays with her pastor and begins her day with prayer. Donald Trump joked about grabbing a woman by her genitalia, was found liable for sexual assault, mocked a disabled reporter, and referred to Africa as a continent of "sh*it hole countries," among other statements that violate God's commands. Kamala Harris has lied and exaggerated claims to persuade voters and disrespected Donald Trump when he was the sitting president. This is what politicians do! So how can we definitively argue one candidate is more godly than another? Both candidates have policies and principles that affirm and oppose the Word of God, and, no, it is not enough to simply examine a handful of talking points or initiatives posted on their website because Jesus teaches us to examine character. Jesus teaches us to examine fruit. He says a good tree cannot produce bad fruit and bad tree cannot produce good fruit. He says it is our LOVE for one another that will demonstrate we are His disciples, not our partisanship. When you read God's Word and spend time with Him in prayer, do you really see His heart reflected in Donald Trump? Do you really see His heart reflected in Kamala Harris? Character should be an ESSENTIAL consideration for Christian voters. What about the company they keep? Not the people who endorse them, but the people they consider to be friends, mentors, or role models, the people they admire- this should matter. Two devout Christ followers can come to different conclusions on who is the better candidate and vote in good faith!!! Now, the comments and stories the Bevere's shared in this conversation suggest that they're conservative thinkers who likely vote Republican, and there is absolutely nothing in scripture that suggests voting Republican is wrong. My point is there is nothing in scripture that suggests voting Democrat is wrong either. This is not a single-issue election. The goal of political parties is to win elections, not to win souls for Jesus. Both parties profess to promote peace, order, and prosperity. The party Christians choose to support is a matter of preference. The strongest argument I hear for all Christians voting the same way is abortion. As Bible-believing followers of Jesus, we know to abort a pregnancy is to kill a child created in the image of God. To justify abortion by referring to a fetus as an "it," simply a clump of cells and not human being, is to de-humanize the image of God. Still, neither candidate supports outlawing abortion. Regarding the states with the most restrictions, Donald Trump said this month in a town hall on FOX News to an all-female audience that many of these rulings "are gonna be redone," to mitigate some of these restrictions. Donald Trump and JD Vance have both reiterated they do not support a national abortion ban, and the Republican party removed the pro-life issue from its platform at their convention this year. They did not mention it once probably because they know it could cost them votes. Meanwhile, Kamala Harris plans to reinstate Roe v. Wade, ensuring abortion is legal with the restrictions stated in Roe v. Wade and no additional restrcitions. Abortion is not the only issue on the ballot with an explicit stance from God's Word, though. What about immigration? I'm not referring to border security or our obviously disfunctional citizenship process, but the way we refer to immigrants. At 21:47, Lisa Bevere refers to undocumented immigrants who enter the country illegally as "aliens." Intentional or unintentional, that is de-humanizing image-bearers of God!!! Donald Trump's campaign invited a comedian to speak at his New York rally, and he called Puerto Rico a floating island of trash!! Does this not matter? Both candidates support strong border security and increased aid both through finances and personnel to the southern border. It's fascinating that the only undocumented immigrants we discuss are those from Mexico and Central American, not Europe. I digress... What about the economy? Should all Christians agree on whose policies are better for their present and future? What about foreign policy? Considering the humanitarian crises in Gaza and Ukraine and Russia, should all Christians agree on whose policies will more effectively bring peace? The answer is no. We already have a prince of peace. He is Jesus- Yahweh Shalom. God can and will use either candidate for His glory. Christians can disagree on whom they prefer. It's not our vote on November 5th that's biblical, it's our love for one another on November 6th and beyond.

John & Lisa - thank you for being God-Carriers. It is a tremendous responsibility to know that the world experiences God because of your words. I have watched several of your video’s, and I admire your courage to speak out, and your faithfulness towards our Lord and Savior. It appears from this video that you supported the Trump policies from a Christian viewpoint. For years I have struggled with Donald Trumps character. Bottom line, I could never consider that he or his policies hold the best example of Christian values. Your advice of taking the 10 commandments and comparing them with policy seemed to bypass the greater commandment of “love thy neighbor”. Your example hi-lighted the commandment of “you shall not murder” relating to abortion only. How many people have been murdered because of hate towards another’s race or sexual orientation? Is one murder more acceptable than another in God’s eyes? There has actually been an increase in abortion rates since the overturn of Roe vs Wade. What might this tell us Christians - could it be that this issue is best confronted at the grassroots level and not at the government level? So much of the New Testament is against the Pharisees and their laws - could there be a lesson to be learned here? Can we honestly say that Trumps hateful rhetoric, fear mongering, and threat of mass deportation is how Jesus would handle this situation? Every country experienced an economic downturn created by the pandemic. Most leaders believed that lockdowns were the best choice in saving lives. As a Christian we should be at peace knowing the hardships we are enduring are a trade-off for those lives saved. Today, under Bidens administration, the US economy numbers are very strong. Shame on Trump for lying about this. I fact-checked Trump on most of his statements and found he lied, a lot. The public deserves to hear truth. When I analyzed Trump (and trust me, I researched both candidates in great detail) he seems to exemplify at least five of the seven deadly sins (pride, greed, wrath, envy, and lust). When analyzing Harris I saw joy, patience, kindness, and self control. Yes, she negated Trump by giving warning to the American public on being unfit, unhinged and a fascist. Most of these comments were initiated by many people who knew him best. Harris did not demean anyone else in her speeches. On the other hand, Trumps degradation towards her and a multitude of other people was unbridled and rampant. For me, the telltale decision on who possessed more Christian values was demonstrated at his MSG rally and her Ellipse rally. No matter how open-minded I tried to be, I absolutely cannot view Trump as a president type simply by the way he conducts himself. I believe, for some, his constant “without me the country is doomed” left people feeling vulnerable and fearful to a point where non-Christians see him as their “Saviour” and the far more radical Christians see him as the fulfillment of prophecy. I don’t think he should be considered as either. Myself, I will believe that God continues to accomplish His will. He is sovereign. He is ultimately responsible for setting leaders in place (often for reasons and purposes we do not understand). Yes, I am to obey the governing authorities (Rom 13:1) and to pray for them that God sees to it that they allow us freedom of worship (1 Tim 2:1-4), but, I will not presume to know the plan of God. As a Christian I will not support Trumps revolution and seek to overthrow the government as liberation theology is contrary to God’s Word. I will however pray to God to be with our leaders who have put their own desires and delusions first, those that have put their ego in the place of God. We may not always understand why things happen the way they do, but we can trust that God will always be with us.

I am a follower of Jesus Christ and it saddens me that every time I hear pastors talk about the election and say “vote the Bible” they then proceed to only speak about abortion and lgbtq+. There are so many other issues facing us and the liberties of certain Americans at stake that, unfortunately do not look like you all. And yet somehow, these two issues are your whole focus (oh I dare not forget to mention all the dangerous illegal aliens coming in to harm us). I don’t hear any pastor who constantly harp on these two main issues bringing up gun safety when countless children have been taken due to this epidemic, and not by the hands of “illegal aliens”. As followers of Jesus Christ we, of course, follow God’s leading in all we do. And God also gives us common sense. It’s clear who you’re saying not to vote for and who to vote for. Regardless of who makes it in office I can agree with you on one thing, as followers of Jesus we must pray! hello, i’m sorry , this is going to be long. please pray for me. i feel under attack and im scared. i feel far from God. and i’m struggling with believing the lies of the enemy, about myself, about God and His word. i sometimes open up the word and have so much shame and fear of God and punishment that i end up hearing His word as if everything was aimed at me. i understand that His word convicts and i need conviction.. (well i know i have a ton to work on, i feel like a mess). but it leaves me feeling helpless and condemned. this happens when i listen to some sermons and podcasts too. it’s gotten better but fluctuated. i believe it scrupulosity & religious Ocd. thankfully i have one or two people in the church i can reach out to (they’re not close friends but lovely people) because this feels so isolating. and honestly frightening and overwhelming. i’m struggling to discern what is truly guidance from the Holy Spirit because i’ve been hearing a lot of different things (having so many thoughts). many that accuse. many that make me feel abandoned and without help. many that make me feel incredibly bad about myself. im struggling. and this is hard. please keep me in your prayers. this is affecting the way i see God and i don’t want it to. not because of the way it makes me feel but because i start to believe that maybe those thoughts are from Him… simply because i know how imperfect i am, i know i need His grace. truly, i do.i start thinking that maybe im just trying to deceive myself if i don’t believe those thoughts. i want to love Him and love His word. but i need help and support. thank you so much. 🤍😭🙏

Yes, the Holy Spirit can tell us not to vote. There is NO command in the Bible telling Christians to vote at all. Matter of fact, a constitutional republic (the government we have in the USA) did not even exist in the time of Christ so there is no specific provision in the Bible for a voting system administered under a two party system.

Very insightful-I actually loved so much of this! While we are embracing love for one another, let’s avoid using hateful rhetoric that dehumanizes people. Instead, let’s use biblical language and refer to individuals as… well, people, not “illegal aliens.” That term is extremely demeaning and rude. I see your good intentions, and within that, there’s room for growth. Just because certain phrases are common in our culture doesn’t make them right. The Bible offers numerous ways to refer to immigrants, such as “strangers,” “sojourners,” or “foreigners.” You could also simply say “immigrants” or “undocumented.” It may seem like a small thing, but these types of coded words have historically been used to dehumanize and oppress marginalized groups, making it easier to justify hateful treatment. Thanks for considering this.

Why are these Breveres ignoring the fact that the candidate they are choosing said Florida’s 6-wk abortion ban is too short? He is Not anti-abortion, so that issue does not differentiate the candidates, and he mocks his Christian followers behind closed doors. It is the character of Jesus Christ that makes our Lord and Savior, so to ignore character seems blasphemous-one candidate conducts themselves in a more Christ-like behavior, so she gets my vote.
@dachater1Ай бұрын
I think that’s a VERY naive and short sighted perspective. There is a lot more at stake than this. Kamala Harris is a puppet (remember she was installed and not voted in) of a deep state machinery that desires to rip apart the fabric of society ie: the family unit, freedom of religion, freedom of speech- they are censoring free speech as we speak. There is alot more to it and I pray you will have your eyes opened.

The problem is christian leaders dancing around the truth. While Trump is not perfect and I don't stand behind everything he has said, the choice is very clear. If you care at all about the safety of Americans and a secure border, VOTE TRUMP. If you care at all about the unborn and protecting their lives, VOTE TRUMP. As a christian, there is absolutely no justification to vote Harris/Walz. They are radically pro-abortion and it is unacceptable. Pastors need to stop being afraid to speak the truth about this. Lives are at stake.
@jaymkz3225Ай бұрын
Trump is pro life? 😂 Did you know Trump, in 2016, championed the 6 week heartbeat bill which protected fetuses from being aborted after 6 weeks but he is now, all of a sudden, claiming that 6 weeks is not enough and he now instead is advocating for abortions up to 16 weeks (a point at which 92% of abortions are administered). He is an opportunist who does not truly care about the lives of the unprotected and will shift his stance to align more closely with the changing moral climate in order to secure the popular vote (as he has now done with his stance on abortion). How can you as a Christian call it the “truth” to vote for a man whose character embodies everything that Christ and the full counsel of Scripture stand against? … A man whose character is rotten and has been for over 60 years ….a man who is a criminal and a felon, a man who incited an insurrection, a man who confessed to grabbing women by their genatalia, a man who called Africa a “bunch of s--hole nations”??? Really? Voting for this guy is the “truth”???

The way God appoints the next leader is by placing on each individual's heart who to vote for. Some believers are basing their decision on being "pro-life" and anti-lgbtq and other believers are basing their decision on helping the poor & less fortunate and anti-racism, anti-theft, anti-murder, anti-greed, etc. so then the bottom line is that both parties have dual satanic/biblical platforms. God's instruction to me is to vote how He tells me to; not based on what any other believer is saying. It is underestimating THE CHURCH. It’s simply a lie from hell to have that mindset and speak that…. If you believe that, then you should also believe the election will go however they decided whether we vote or not, correct? If God called you to run for president in 4 years against 2 other people- you as the independent- and He promised you it would happen because He is The Great I Am- and you were SURE it was Him telling you, would you not do it because “everyone’s votes would just be going to waste if they voted for you?” OR would you do it and say “God gets the final count and trust HIS voice and His promises?” Just something to think about ❤

I believe God is gonna hold them responsible for aligning with these things. There are issues with both candidates however we are not choosing a Pastor we are looking at the best that comes in alignment with the standard of the word, Most importantly no one can save this nation not Donald Trump nor Kamala Harris the Church needs to rise up pray and repent and seek God's face. 2 Chronicles 7:14..

Here’s a fact: Donald Trump is not truly pro-life at all. In 2016 he championed the 6 week heart beat bill which protected all fetuses from abortion after 6 weeks. Now, in 2024, he said that 6 weeks is to low and is now advocating for abortions up to 16 weeks which at this point, accounts for 92% of abortions. He is pro-life in name only. Also, beyond this, his character is truly wicked according to every Biblical measure and we as Christians are not called to “vote on the lesser of two evils”. We can choose to abstain from voting and choose instead to pray that our elected official truly repents and turns from their wicked ways. God will also hold all Christians who vote for Trump responsible.

I respect you noth but I want to add to what yiu did not say. Murder is not only limited to children in mothers womb. Murder includes murdering people who are alive. If someone fears God, they cannot be hateful, discrimination, and violent. From the 2 candidates, who is really God-fearing and respectful. I think the female candidate seems to be more God-fearing and respectful. Jesus summed up the whole commandment into 2. Love God and love your neighbor. So, which platform is proving move loving? It's strange that we talk about biblical values but it seems hate, violence, division, pride, rude racism, oppression killing of black people are biblical values. It is strange how some Christians think that biblical values are only abortion and same sex marriage. But somehow killing of innocent people is not Murder. Strange how killing of unborn babies is murder but once the babies are born, when they are shot and killed it is not Murder. You can be pro-abortion and not prolife. If life is important, why is no one mentioning murdering of people in church, In movie theaters at school. Show me where the Bible says hate, violence, division, pride, and oppression is a Godly principle. Infact when I look at both parties, one party has only 2 biblical principles and it is abortion, and same set marriage. The other party has loving your neighbors, kind to strangers or foreigners who are among you, helping the poor and oppressed, providing resources like healthcare to preserve life, taking care of the elderly, renouncing the Murder of minorities or people who have no voice, respecting other people. When I look at both, I see that the other side has more biblical principles than the one that has just 2. On the last note, both parties support Murder. One supports the Murder of blacks and minorities, killings through unfounded wars and school shootingz, shootings in places of warship while the other supports killing of unborn children. So if you take out that part bc both are guilty, then one party has only one biblical principle and that is same saex marriage while the other party has numerous values as listed above

15 min mark: One saying “ you’re basically throwing your vote away if you vote on the independent because this is how our system works” is underestimating the power of Yahweh.
