In the twilight's dying light, where the mountains stand so tall, John rode slow, with a heavy heart, answering fate’s cold call. The air was thick with memories, of days both wild and free, But now the echoes whispered low, "This is where it ends for me." High above, in shadows deep, Dutch waited on his own, A man once full of visions grand, now turned to blood and bone. He saw John coming, steady, sure, with weariness in his eyes, And in that gaze, Dutch read the truth: their time had met its demise. “Our time has passed, John,” Dutch spoke, with a voice so cold and clear, His words were laced with sorrow, but there was no trace of fear. He knew the path that lay ahead, the end of every road, Where dreams are crushed by history's march, and hearts bear all the load. John looked up, with worn-out eyes, and saw the man he knew, But time had etched its cruel lines, where hope once brightly grew. “We tried, Dutch,” John softly said, as the wind began to moan, “But all that’s left are broken dreams, and a man who stands alone.” The mountains bore witness to this final, tragic scene, Two souls who shared a destiny, now torn apart, unclean. Dutch reached out, one last attempt, to grasp at something more, But all he found were empty hands, and a heart that was no more. “Our time has passed, John,” Dutch sighed, and turned his weary head, “For all the things we fought and lost, for all the tears we shed. The world we knew is dying now, beneath the western sun, And all that’s left is to let go, and know the race is run.” John felt the weight of every word, each one a sharpened blade, For in Dutch’s eyes he saw the truth, the choices they had made. And so he stood, beneath the sky, where eagles dare to roam, And knew that Dutch had reached the end, far from the land called home. With one last breath, Dutch turned away, and let the darkness in, For all the fights, the dreams, the lies, had led him to this sin. “Our time has passed,” he whispered low, as the sky began to weep, And with a final, solemn step, he fell into the deep. John stood there, on that lonely cliff, where echoes slowly died, And in his heart, he felt the loss, the pain, the endless pride. He knew the cost of every step, the price that had been paid, But as the sun dipped out of sight, his sorrow would not fade. For in that final, bitter clash, where dreams were laid to rest, John saw the end of all they were, the West’s forgotten quest. “Our time has passed,” he said to none, as the stars began to shine, And with a heavy, burdened soul, he left the past behind.
