We founds several more awesome small RVs that we've fallen in love with over the years and we've listed them on our site: www.gonewiththe...
Update: We decided to keep Windy for the remainder of our RV travel's. We begged her to take us back and she did! You can read why here: www.gonewiththe...
As most of you know our Windy is for sale and we are looking for a new home on wheels! This will be our 4th RV purchase and needless to say, we know the drill!
Here is our general "RV wish list":
Length: under 30ft
Sleeps: 4 (we are having some guests this year)
Generator (for our boondocking days)
Good inside storage (because we are full time)
Somewhat contemporary styling
We have stopped off at several RV Dealerships along our route in Wisconsin and Missouri. So far and these are our favorites.
Winnebago View 24M - MSRP $110,000
Winnebago Vista 26HE - MSRP $70,000
Leisure Travel Unity 24MB - MSRP $120,000
Thor Ace 27.1 - MSRP $91,000 (not in the video: this floor plan isn't out yet but we like the 29.1)
Thor Siesta 24SR - MSRP $108,000 (not in the video: each dealer we went to was sold of out, but that's a good sign I'm guessing)

Long winded??? That was a perfectly timed presentation and some awesome insight as well. I know this comment is a year late but I wanted to say how much I appreciate the honest evaluation of each coach. Usually these videos are posted by dealers who, understandably, are very biased. To them everything is a pro, and there are never any cons. To have the opinion of someone who is actually living the RV Life is invaluable. Thanks- Looking forward to your new channel: Top RV Picks With The Wynns ;)

I just spent time in the M/B Leisure 2013 with my mom. I love it!!! Soft corners, good space, smooth ride, classy. The negative is the swivel table & the 2 swivel chairs don't recline. Other than that, great time was had by all and am very happy with this unit and its quality.

I've been traveling for a year and a half now and my best advice is to stay as small as possible, there are many beautiful roads that are not accessible with big rvs and many campgrounds are the same and in many of them the maneuverability is very important especially after a long day of traveling, pulling in and setting up is so much better than unhooking sway bars, finding someone to spot you while you back up etc. Keep in mind that all the fancy gadgets aren't necessary and could break with huge expenses to fix so go simple. Enjoy the Journey! Stevie and Suki

I actually bought a Leisure Travel Van, the model in your video! I love it! The bed, if you want, can be left down during the day, depending on what you want to do. It's not a big deal to put it up & down though. The space it gives you, up, during the day is fabulous! I have always had BIG rigs, 38+ feet, diesel pushers what ever. This is an excellent small unit!

ok ok.... I just bought a 1995 Georgie Boy Swinger.. 30 foot I think. The price was quite workable to give this full time RV living idea a fair shot. I might even think of starting a blog to find out if stating out at 70 years old has an interested following... Here I go..!!! BTW.. I have had this in mind as long as I have been following your web site.. a couple of years at least. Always enjoyed..Thank you

Just watched this. Have you ever considered an older RV? I purchased a 1987 Skyline Lindy back in 2007. It had less than 50,000 miles on it, and is about 24 feet long. I understand some folks may shy away from older RV's, but at $6800 for a Quality Class C, I could not pass it up. The interior was and still is in great condition. The few problems (mechanical mainly), cost about $4500 so far to fix. Even with that and so added creature comforts like a weather band/CB Radio, Generator, HD Radio, with CD (MP3), XM, I-pod, USB, and Auxiliary (ohone/Mp3 player) Inputs, Satellite TV, Wi-Fi w/small HP computer, HD LED TV, DVD Player, and other goodies. I have paid about $14,000. total. If I were to upgrade with a New Awning, Solar Power System, and add on Transmission Over/Under Drive, I would still be less than the $70 to $130 K your top three picks are priced at. Heck, I am still under the typical $50 K range for a new (Non-Slideout) Class C on closeout.

Thanks for sharing Joseph, an older RV is the best way to go...plus you can customize everything. If we purchase another RV one day we could go for something in the 30' range, maybe a mid 90's Safari Trek or similar?

That's funny that you guys were trying to picture where the kitty litter would go, I done the same thing! lol we recently bought a travel trailer, at first we were going to buy one where the litter box would have to go in the bathroom cupboard but we found a different model that we bought and our cat gets her own mini room, turning the top bunk into a area for her, removing the mattress and having her litter box, scratcher house and things like that up there and the bottom bunk will be for storage and guests

Made it to the end of the video and it spurred us to look around for alternatives. Though we enjoyed our 24' Gulfstream BT Cruiser for 13 years/92,000 miles, ~ we wanted to trade up 'slightly'. Not all BT Cruisers of the past are still available except for used models. Looked at Forest River's disappointing alternatives. What we settle for in the $70,000 range (plus nice trade in) was Thor's Vegas (Axis is seemingly the same, but from different distributors). We are now leisure traveling in a new 26' Vegas 25.2 model (slide out bedroom in the back). Engine noise is slightly louder than in the BT Cruiser, but the Vegas is on the same Ford V-10 350 chassis which is a plus. Plus much, much more exterior storage. Larger bathroom is appreciated. Overhead electric 'disappearing' single bed will store up to 12 cases of wine (500 lb weight limit). . . . . . . Automatic levelers not available in this unit. Appreciate low exterior entrance doorway without electric stairs. Since we like 'camping' in National Forrest areas, it looks like we will have to add to this unit an inverter and roof solar panel as we enjoyed on our BT Cruiser.

We have the cheap RV, Tioga 23Ft and love it but we did not pay $70,000. Found a used one under 20,000 miles, 10 years old stored in a shed for $23,000. Upgraded all the lights to LED. We travel with 2 sphinx cats and a Boston terrier. We put the litter box in the tub and installed the cat door on the bathroom door without the flapper. I must admit climbing up the ladder to the bed does get old but I like the open space for living.

We have owned a class B Pleasureways and a class C Travelaire always in the 19 - 22ft range. Our trips usually last from 6 - 8 weeks and cover at least 10,000 miles. We travel with 2 large dogs and found they do not cause any problems except for sleeping arrangements. Of the 2 the class C was our favourite for it had a real bed and a dining area that did not have to be changed when it came time to sleep. Unfortunately we had to give up about 8 mpg over the Class B. Also the class B didn't require a special garage to handle its size and weight when it came time for repairs while on the road.

The Leisurevan (last one) was my favorite, too. Heard mostly positive comments from you in the walk through. Really do think putting the banquette back in place each morning would soon become just routine; after all, it didn't seem to take any longer than making up a bed! CON: Have used many refrigerators, always HATE interior freezers. The fridges never seem to keep frozen food frozen and cold food warmer than frozen. Better upgrade that.

It's hard to get all the best features into one perfect little RV. I liked the first Winnie, but that sleeping arrangement would send me over the top. (or around the bend?) And I'm not terribly claustrophobic, but it wouldn't work. Middle of the night...I'd freak out. The Class A was just too "cheap". Good luck trying to get a Class A under 70k. Too many corners to cut. (the plastic) The Unity (or any of the Triple E products) are pretty awesome. HOWEVER, I'd stay away from the Merc. We have a Mercedes (love it) but the parts are indeed made of "unobtainium". So....deep pockets required. Even though I'm not a huge Ford fan, I seem to think that last model does come on a Ford 350 chassis. Or maybe one of its cousins? Worth a look. Good luck.

Oh, forgot to mention. The "Unity" products do appear to be proper four season vehicles. The way they are put together, nothing is going to freeze. There are a bunch of videos out there. The Merc seemed very good compared to the other two. As for steel sinks - they're way cheaper than plastic to buy and of course will out live any plastic sink. So swapping one out shouldn't be too hard. The folding bed is cool, but like you pointed out, it would be a pain to mess with every day.

It's hard to build an RV that covers everybody's taste and needs. As for buying new. You're throwing money away. Find a used one that best fits your likes. Them take the savings and do the improvements that you want. That extra $40k in saving can buy lots of improvements too. As 30k miles is nothing on an RV.

You're an idiot. If it's got 15k miles on it. Then it's either some cheap manufacture or it's been parked for 25 years. Also motorhomes are designed to be driven. Not set in one place. If you want that buy a "Mobile Home". Which is kinda funny. The only thing mobile about them is they were moved once.

You're an idiot if you don't know what you're looking at or hire someone to inspect it that does. And no I'm not going to cry like you. I know what I'm buying before I go lay down my money! You might try it.

we chose the 2013 serenity with sleeping for 4. The Murphy was a cool idea but putting bed up and down is a lot of work. Loved the qaulity of the serenity. Flying to colorado to pick up. Saved 30% buying one with 9000 easy miles. Buy right and you can't go wrong.

Yeah, six years after the fact, but still a great review for someone (like me) looking for a good used coach. Excellent rapid fire sequencing with helpful little factoids along the way. Appreciate the youthful exuberance tied to experiential knowledge. I was very disappointed with the Vista expecting way more from Winnebago, but as you aptly explained, it was a price point build.

You are SO MUCH more organized in your presentation than a lot of the folks doing RV videos. Thanks. I like both the View and the Leisure but the Vista will cost a ton if you travel much. Those Ford V10 engines are doing well to get 10MPG and I will need to tow an enclosed motorcycle trailer.

@dragames
@dragames 8 жыл бұрын
yes, which means you could have this paid off in 4 years maybe. especially if you share the expense with someone else. If you are working for a company that requires the travel, they reimburse you for the gas/diesel, so... you don't pay money on that. Your bills would literally only be the RV, and the replacement for water (most of these newer RV's either have lithium batteries or solar panels or sometimes both so you'd never need to plug into something to charge the batteries, you just let the engine run) every 3-6 months an oil change and whatever food you eat. You could save a lot of money in the end because you're not paying a high sewage/water/electricity/gas bill

My two cents: Sprinter based RV's have lots of benefits: MPG, more dealer locations for service/parts at local MB not just RV service centers, cab body panels and glass is stock and widely available, air bags for both driver and passenger, ABS, electronic stability, diesel torque, did I say MPG? My choice is the View 24M with cabover, not for bed but to be used as storage space.
