So glad to hear you have an engine brake! Our first RV (39' Bounder Diesel) supposedly had one, but it was really just a retarder or exhaust brake, which is a pale imitation of a real compression or "Jake" brake. During our first year on the road, it left us pulled over and white-knuckled in a turn-out waiting for the brakes to cool while driving over the Tioga Pass east out of Yosemite down to Mono Lake (I'll bet you know that road.... STEEEP). Our current RV has a real 2-stage compression brake, and there isn't a mountain anywhere that we can't descend without even touching the brakes. It's the safest, most secure feeling you can have driving a big rig in the mountains. By the way, LOVE the guest bed. That was a total surprise! Congrats again on your beautiful new Roy!
@gonewiththewynns10 жыл бұрын
uhoh...maybe we have a brake retarder...either way it's better than no engine brake system like our first 2 RVs.

Making it your own is part of it. I guess I look at little stuff like a paint job or the change of some things on the inside as something you have to do to make it your own. I dont think you'll ever find one that will fill the needs and wants... other then maybe a real home. But even then you'll find the good and the bad in all of it.. Be happy you can do what you do and go where you go...

Since you've had Roy for awhile now I'd like to know if the 300 hp engine has any issues with power. Is it responsive or slow? I've heard many comments ranging that the 300 hp cummins ISB 6.7L can't even get out of it's own way at highway speeds or gradual ascents into through the mountains. Figured I'd ask an owner that has been there and done that to reply on some forum someplace. Maybe this could be a future vid project. Thanks and keep making great vids!
@tyomen10 жыл бұрын
Awesome, guys. Would you recommend installing a DC breaker switch inline between the battery and inverter instead of a fuse?
@gonewiththewynns10 жыл бұрын
There is a switch that shuts off all power between the inverter and batteries...but I'm no electrician so i don't feel my recommendation should be taken with any merit.

I love the basement storage you mention in these videos. It seems that lots of RVs have them now, they looks super for supplementing space for stuff you need if you are actually living in your RV - BUT, what I wonder is how easy as those things to break into if you are not around? I would worry about putting anything valuable in there for a smack-and-grad, but then you say it is pass through, so breaking into the storage would also give you access to the interior? Is that correct? Does this worry you, or is there something I am missing? Or just the hazards of RV life? Also, on your channel do you talk about living in your RV. I want to buy and RV, then go looking for land, buy some land and live in my RV until I figure out what and how to build on my land. Do you know if that would be legal, illegal, problematic, cool!? Really like your videos and it's very useful to have an idea of what some of these things cost. I see one parked in my town in a peripheral road and I wonder what is going on with it, does someone live there. How hard is it to find a place in a town where you are not bothering anyway and no one will bother you. I would not want to get in anyone's face, but there is a lot of talk about people not liking "car campers" etc. Thanks again.

Love this RV. Don't know if you will see this comment this video was 2 years ago. You let Grampa Roy know he is a find handsome man and I would love to give him my number. My son had a Grampa teach him how to cuss when he was 3 he almost got in a fight with the neighbor kid when he tested it out. They are still friends to this day. Keep the camera rolling I love it.
