+Matt Kurrle We have figured that its pretty easy to go back to whatever job we left without to much trouble so why not enjoy life when we can and work when we have to.

It would really be nice if you could put in the title of each bigger video (crossings) what episode the viewer is watching?

what is a good price to pay for a sail boat, like yours.And can you travel around the world?
@HellavaLifeSailing8 жыл бұрын
Oh two part question I'll take IOP (in our opinion) for $500 Alex. Haven't looked lately at prices but we have about 16k into our boat with a few thousand of that being "extra" stuff we bought to make living aboard more comfortable. Sailing around the world I don't think we will be using this boat to do the trip. Could it make it sure but it's not designed to do it so why try. But our boat is great for the keys and Bahamas and ICW and other shallow water areas as a world cruising boat is not comfortable sailing in 6 ft of water. So all in all its like everything in life it's a trade off one for another cant have best of everything. I would say figure out what type of sailing you enjoy most and buy your boat accordingly. If your not sure charters might be a good start.

How long did it take you to cross fl on the Okochobee canal?
@HellavaLifeSailing8 жыл бұрын
+Carlos Perez (The Hug Man Official) We took three days to cross. Might have been able to push it and make it on two long days but we hit some weather early in the day and stopped a few extra times. We also did the rim instead of going across the middle. Wish I had the video footage we took from then it was pretty cool. Saw well over 100 alligators on the entire crossing. Mostly you only see the eyes and the nose but that is all you need to see to know how big the gator is. If you estimate the distance in inches from eyes to nose that's the length in feet of the whole gator ie if its about 10 inches from the nose to the eyes it's about a 10 foot gator.

Anything cardboard, or paper labels are a big "no-no" aboard a sailboat folks...it's an invitation for roaches !!!
@LEE-wj3sz9 жыл бұрын
+Paul Ouellette Yep or as they say in Spanish, "Facto Mundo."
@BruceInFlorida8 жыл бұрын
+Paul Ouellette Agreed ! Cockroaches love to eat the GLUE that is used to attached labels to can goods, and in the making of card board boxes. Never carry cardboard boxes for any reason. The space between the ribs are large enough for the roaches to Lay their EGGS, and you have a very good chance of eggs hatching while the cardboard is aboard. USE a magic marker and ID the contents of all can goods, then rip off all paper labels. Most people I know will also wipe down the naked tin cans with bleach or vinegar, to be sure that all of the GLUE is removed, along with the paper coverings. You don't want your boat turning into a ROACH MOTEL !!...

can't just keep a dinghy because you found it. owners report it stolen then you are on record as telling the cg about it then keeping it, you get charged with theft by taking of property of another because you did not file for salvage rights for it.

Love your videos, but, guys, would it kill you to tidy up, clear the deck, coil some lines, stow things down below? Every time I watch one of your videos I just cringe.
@HellavaLifeSailing8 жыл бұрын
Lol. We are pretty lazy sailors and we are also fair weather sailors for now too. It's all a learning experience and just about everyday we get a little better at becoming "real sailors and having a ship shape boat" but until then we are who we are. Thanks for watching lots more coming soon.
@joez98398 жыл бұрын
Don't obsess about the "shipshape" thing, but for safety sake, clear the deck.

Hello:) how long did it take you to cross Florida on the okochobee canal?

+Carlos Perez (The Hug Man Official) That really depends on several factors. The main one being your timing of the bridge opennings ( some bridge tenders hold God like powers, and seem to open whenever its to their concevience. The second would be the height and speed of your vessel. To clarify, coming IN from the Gulf of Mexico you travel UP the Caloosahatchee from San Carlos Bay ( Sanibel Island) following "offshore markers for about 5 miles, and then come to the intersetion of ICW #100 ( where a turn to port would run the ICW markers down until reaching the Tampa area. You stay straight at ICW #100 and the waterway will change name to Caloosahatchee River, which IS the start of the ICW, heading towards Lake O. The ICW Markers begin with # 1 and increase all the way to Lake O. You have free going until you are upstream of Fort Myers City, and the FIRST of MANY bridges / locks will begin with the FRANKLIN LOCK. From the FL, and then travel around the peripheral markers of LAKE 0, and finally EXIT Lake O into the PORT STUART waterway, dumping you into the Atlantic. I have had to SLEEP along the ICW at night, simply because some bridges require you to call a bridge operator AT HOME, so he can drive down and open the bridge... if he answers the phone.
