Thank you so much for actually talking and explaining the trip and what you did... as oppose to bumping house music for the sole component of the audio.

Love the videos man!! I’m back in Florida after 34 years of being in the northeast ( I was 12 when I moved from Sarasota!). I’ve got a lot of catching up to do with sailing and beach life but cayo costa has been my go to spot since I found it. I’ve been kayaking from bokelia.. I’d love to see the sailing set up you have so if you are in ft Myers and have a little time let me know!! What do you use for capturing your underwater videos?

We are heading back to Turks and Caicos again in April if you would like to follow. We will have a newbie on board learning the ropes as he and his family want to experience the live-a-board life style. I guess hands on is the best way to learn. Cheers.

+Magic Genie We might take you up on that offer. Finishing up my last week at work now then we have to sell everything in the house again but should be much easier the second time around. We have a few boat projects but should be done end of Feb.

+Hellava Life We live in Port Charlotte. Depending on weather, we plan on leaving around April 15th. We have made the trip about 9 times and know lots of cool out of the way places. It would be fun to have a few boats in the parade.

Magic Genie Yes we would be interested. We have a friend of ours that is rebuilding his boat and should have it finished soon he may also want to join us. Only thing we really want to do this year was watch fireworks in NYC or DC so other than that we are wide open on plans.

+Maxwell Oakes Took a job as a manager at the Days Inn on Amelia Island just north of Jacksonville I'll be done at the end of the month. Then we have a house full of "Stuff" to sell again. Planning on moving back aboard mid February. Now that we know people like watching our video we plan to film a lot more. Thanks for watching.

Great videos.... been wanting to live aboard for sometime now... had a chance to take a great job in the keys... passed it up... still plan on coming down and living there aboard... hows the crime living at a marina there? Thanks... can't wait
@HellavaLifeSailing
@HellavaLifeSailing 9 жыл бұрын
+Dale Fritz Hey. Lol on the crime rate question. Where we were living in Islamorada it was 0% at our marina. I couldn't say the same for one we saw in Key Largo or a few on them down towards Key West. Not a big fan of the Marathon area either guessing there could be some theft around there by the looks of it. I would look for a marina that has retirees maybe. Normally it won't be other cruisers you have to worry about its "outsiders" most cruisers/livaboards look out for each other and help when they can. Next chance you have you should take it just remember you can always go back. Good luck

Glad you found our channel it's great people are watching our videos. We have done a little bit on the east coast of south Florida. We will probably never take the ICW south of Ft Pierce ever again. We are working now saving up to take off sailing for a few months before winter when we will have to go back to work. Going to try and record as much as we can but still enjoy our selfs and when time permits we can get some editing done so stay tuned.

Your tiny episode on lobster catch is amazing. We are still trying to figure out how to find lobster spots in the Bahamas. We are sailing from island to island often and cannot really hook up with locals. Can you recommend some tips on locating lobsters? Thank you, we did enjoyed your video.

Hey thanks. See you guys are doing videos also they look good. I'll check more out when we get back to free Internet. As for places for lobster are going to be ledges and holes. Pretty much everything bigger then a lobster wants to eat it so they hide during the day and come out at night. Look under ledges of Corel heads and any ledges they can hide under same with trash like trash cans, tires, anything flat you will also see lion fish so go ahead and learn how to clean them. We are headed to the keys this week and plan to take lots of videos. Good luck.

Plus when looking for lobsters in holes. Always look for the straight antennas as very few things in nature are that straight.. Plus you can also bully net them at night they travel along the bottom and you spot them with a underwater light and their eyes glow. just scoop them up. Google bully netting lobster. If your trying to fill the pantry that could be the way to go.

What is better for Keys, dinghy or kayak?
@HellavaLifeSailing
@HellavaLifeSailing 8 жыл бұрын
Marcin Sliwinski that all depends on what you want to do. It's hard but not impossible to get out to the reef line to spear fish on a kayak but quite easy to do in a 12 rib with a 9.9hp outboard.

So where do you find the information about what you can fish and what is in season? like when does the lobster season and crab season start? do you need to get a license?
@HellavaLifeSailing
@HellavaLifeSailing 8 жыл бұрын
Lobster season in Monroe county is August 7th thur March 31 and the mini/sport season the last Wednesday and Thursday of July every year and stone crab is October 15 thur May 15. You can double check these and any other species at myfwc.com

Great video! didn't realize how easy it is to catch lobster, how deep of water can you get them in?
@HellavaLifeSailing
@HellavaLifeSailing 9 жыл бұрын
+theislandpackrat Thanks for the comment. I have caught them in as shallow as 4 feet of water and as deep as 115 feet. Seems like 12'-35' is the sweet spot on depth places where there are holes and ledges for them to hide is the best. Thanks for watching

+Hellava Life We arrived at our boat about 2 weeks ago, we are in Mobile, Alabama, she is on the hard and we are working on her. We are doing videos too and will have a channel up real soon. We are also in the process of learning to edit videos. What software are you using?
@HellavaLifeSailing
@HellavaLifeSailing 9 жыл бұрын
Mike Tadlock Congrats on the boat what are your cruising plans after the refit? We are hauling our boat this weekend for 2 months of work couple soft spots around the chain-plates and need to sand & paint the bottom again, new thru hauls, along with about 20 other projects. Will prob film it and make a video we never intended to post videos on KZbin but after friends and family asking about the life aboard it was the easiest way to explain it. We use Cyberlink Powerdirector the first couple videos we used the free version that came with our computer but the last video we wanted to use all the features of the program so paid the $50 well worth it just watched KZbin videos on how to use the software. Two tips I can give you. 1. Audio is huge much better to talk then to type. 2. Gotta have music in it. Let us know when you guys the first video up.
