The first time I went to Cornwall many years ago I saw a bus that had the destination on the front as 'Mousehole'. I followed it to the small fishing village which I'd never heard of before. Mousehole (pronounced 'mow-zull') lives with the tragedy of the Penlee lifeboat disaster. All 8 man crew from Mousehole died attempting to rescue the crew of a small ship that had run aground one stormy winter night. The empty lifeboat building at Penlee Point (between Mousehole and Newlyn) remains as a memorial to the deceased crew. The modern much larger lifeboat is moored in Newlyn Harbour (check out the RNLI).

Wow thanks for sharing we had no idea! Mousehole was one of our favorite towns!

Sadly it was not a small ship but a small family boat. They had manged to get the mum and daughter off and the last broadcast from the lifeboat was so calm and they simple said yep just gonna circle back pick up the dad. Sadly All would perish and were lost to the see. Even more haunting was I believe it was only the young girl who washed ashore. Watching any video on the Penlee life boat disaster is heartbreaking. All the crew were volunteers who gave thier lives on that dreadfully night. The coastline of Cornwall is beutiful but going back centuries there are 100s and 100s of wrecks of these tranquill but treacherous shores

@@Kernow80 Sorry I'm puzzled how you get this so wrong. On the evening of 19 December 1981 the mini-bulk carrier 'Union Star' was on it's maiden voyage from Holland to Ireland with a cargo of fertiliser when during a violent storm it lost all engine power off the Cornish coast. Their last hope of rescue was by the Penlee lifeboat 'Solomon Browne'. The lifeboat was smashed on the rocks as was the 'Union Star'. The lifeboat's 8 man crew died as did the 5 man crew of the 'Union Star', the captain's wife and his two step-daughters. There's a BBC news report dated 25 November 2021 on the tragedy if you don't believe me.

@@chandlercronk The tragedy took place on December 19th 1981. I believe each year when the Christmas lights are put up on the streets and in the houses of Mousehole on the anniversary the lights are either dimmed or switched off that evening.

I live in Cornwall and Sennan cove is one of my fave spots. But you should see it in the winter storms. The waves are IMMENSE! Literally so high they can go over the top of the cliffs and the lifeboat base. Cornwall is a massive area, so much of it to see.. x

Loving the flat cap, I wear one too although I’m somewhat (vastly) older, it’s a good look and very traditional. Lovely video, very professionally put together too, I enjoyed it as I had my Sunday morning coffee and a bowl of porridge. Enjoy. Btw, the weather has been warm and sunny this week but it’s due to rain again later today 😂 Btw, the old car in Mouse hole you saw was a Morris 1000’s (‘Moggy’) a car built from the 1950’s to late 60’s or perhaps slightly later, they are so simple they last forever. That one looked restored, it was so good.
