Who are we? 💁🏼‍♀️
We're Tom and Iz, who live and travel in our van La Bamba. We love nature and try to spend as much time as possible wild swimming, hiking and being outdoors!
You might find Tom in the forest IDing a mushroom, fixing something or starting an ambitious project with his laid-back relaxed approach whereas you could find Isabel cooking up a storm, sunning herself on a beach and being a busy, energetic bee with her endless enthusiasm and positivity! We are total opposites but it works!
How did we end up here?! 😁 ⏮
We met 10 years ago when we were both finishing our A-levels and had a whirlwind summer romance, hitch-hiking around France together before before going our separate ways to travel and to university. We've both always prioritised travel and adventure and have worked hard over the years in hospitality jobs to enable us to keep exploring.
Tom hitch-hiked across Europe and road tripped around Australia whilst Iz studied Environmental Science at York. Iz backpacked around South America with her sister whilst Tom studied Forestry at Aberdeen University. Little did we know we just weren't going to get each other out of our minds! Fast forward 4 years later, we found ourselves in campsite warden jobs, living in a bell tent in a wild flower meadow together! Maybe without realising this was the start of our van life journey!
Next, we both trained to be science teachers and during training, we bought a van, ripped out it's interior and converted it to live in it. Iz managed to get a remote work-from-home job that she could do from the van and Tom was passionate about starting up a KZbin channel.
Since then we haven't looked back and when the pandemic allowed us to, we travelled to Spain, Portugal, Scotland, Ireland, Wales and around Cornwall. We are now on a big European road trip! We are giving it our best shot to do KZbin full time. We have a dream of one day owning a little plot of land and building ourselves a cabin in the woods. If you're new around here you can check out our previous videos; we've spent the last year exploring Scotland, Ireland, Wales, Cornwall, France, Belgium, Germany, Denmark, Norway, Finland and Estonia. We completed a 42 daily vlog challenge, so check out that playlist if you missed it!
• ARE WE MAD?!
We are now making an entire lap around Europe and will be taking you along with us. We are uploading on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. Subscribe and click the bell icon so you don't miss an update!
Our message on our channel is to inspire others to do what they love as life is too short! We love living simply, freely with less stuff but more time!
Thank you so much for watching! If you enjoyed this video please consider LIKING this video and SUBSCRIBING to our channel! It would help us grow our channel 🌻

Love Thomas & Isabelle. Thomas just gave his seat to someone in need, on the bus. What a gentleman. Its not the places they are traveling, rather the nice persons they are. Every once in a while I discover something about Thomas or Isabelle, that touches me. I watch them from a far, but they feel so close to me. They make a glorious couple. They complement one another. I take an example from Thomas & Isabelle , to better myself.

That's so crazy. I love van life videos, so I stumbled across yours one day. In fact I am from Latvia, so seeing something so forgein such as van life in my homeland is so odd. Because Latvia is so small I know every single place so well, so it's quite weird seeing others calling "Sigulda" a "near by town" and Riga a "big city":) But the video is great, I loved it!

Riga and Sigulda. 2 places i would recomend to visit in Latvia. The 3rd thing would be night life, and people in Riga. Very good "alternative" scene.There is some interesting comunities and events, check out "Free Riga" for example. Dunno how active they still are though. But there was a time, you as a foreigner could even get a free place to stay for some time, with a house full of artists and individuals as a company...

Hello Evelina My mother came from Liepāja - she fled during the war, and was never able to go back, due to the Russians. She left her mother and all her relatives behind and never knew what happened to them. I was born & live in UK where my mother settled and found another Latvian refugee to marry. I visited in 1994, after your independence - thank God. I was brought up to speak Latvian - there are a few of us here! We need to keep the language alive - only 1.5 million speakers. In 1994, I found Liepāja a bit run down, but I understand things have improved since then. Dievs svētī Latviju.

Freedom monument isn't for " freedom of Soviet occupation" . It was built before WW2 even started, so it can't really be related. It celebrates the " Freedom fights" which happened in Latvia from 1918 to 1920 and was over the independence of Latvia. As in, the first independence. As you see, there' s a lot of time in-between and it has nothing to do with WW2 and Soviet union.

Wikipedia has references to its numbers, Edgar are you serious that one should trust a random Edgars more? And Centrālā Statistikas Pārvalde are lying? Second, better than dissing wikipedia would be going and fixing what it says, so people have better access to your superior knowledge. But again, you will need to cite sources. And you should not confuse Riga metropolitan area with Riga city when counting inhabitants...

@@LostInTransit As a Finn spotted the t-shirt. Not sure is this t-shirt referring to the short movie since clothing brand Makia has made Monte Rosso shirts as well. But the name refers to Punavuori (Monte Rosso in Finnish) which is the hip area in central Helsinki 🙂

Nice video just one thing unclear. Why did you go by bus to Rīga instead of simply going down by your van? Wasted time and money.
@LostInTransit
@LostInTransit 2 жыл бұрын
we couldn't really find any free parking in the city so i think this actually worked out cheaper, also i don't particularly enjoy driving the van into new cities and feel like the more rural park ups tend to be a bit safer, so would rather just catch a bus in

@@LostInTransit I know, in most places in West Europe it is the headache but Rīga. Sure centre is crowded and parking is not free, but within 10-15 minutes by tram to centre you can find quite a lot a free parking spaces and with no problem of safety. Latvia is twice the size of Belgium but barely two million population. So we still have plenty of space.😁 But I understand, being first time in strange place can be confusing. Anyway, good luck in your further travels.

@@LostInTransit Cool. Just neck a few vodka - my father used to get a bottle of blue Smirnoff - not much else was available in UK at the time. Pour out the vodka till the neck is empty. Obviously drink that later! To the vodka, add a huge slug of honey, some raspberry, or other berry syrup - not squash! Shake well, leave for a few weeks, turning every so often, then drink. Superb!

From 1915 to 1917, the Latvian Riflemen fought in the Russian army against the Germans in positions along the Daugava river. In 1916 Latvian battalions were transformed into regiments as conscription started among the local population. The most Latvia was fighting and lost against Germany, if not Russia Latvia would be now Germany, so sick and tired of demonised Soviet Union.Myself as Russian person, who born in Latvia, under Soviet Union was given chance for Latvian and Russian language, always celebrated Latvian tradition and Russian, as soon Latvia get separated Russian people was cut of language of identity etc. No one talk about it...How sad that whole world just against Russia. I remember how hard it was for me as a student just cancel my roots my background, everything. And this present moment in life in Latvia, if you say in Russian Good morning or Hi, they will curse you .Sad sad times. I've been there and we back again. Just political games.

"Cut of language of identity" BS. Latvian language became the official language of Latvia but there is noone stopping you from using Russian when talking to others who speak it, is there? Also, tell me more about how you had to cancel your roots... Gosh I'll pull out popcorn... My dad's siblings who were displaced to Siberia and died there are probably also laughing their asses off (in heavens) at your understanding of what cancelled roots mean.
