My dad had a 350x when I was a kid. It was an absolute jewel and a blast to ride. He sold it when I went off to college and I was mad as heck! He bought (and still has) an 85 ATC 250r several months later. The 250r had a twist throttle and I learned real quick why that was a bad idea when I popped a wheelie and couldn’t let off the throttle, nearly wrecked it the day after Dad bought it! I loved that 350x and could rip on it, the 250r however, scares the crap outta me! 😂😂

I’ve got a 1987 moto 4 225 that I bought from a good friend of mine shortly before he passed away from cancer. He bought it new and his son rode the hell out of it for years then it got parked in the barn and didn’t run for nearly 2 decades. I got it home and went through everything and got it running like new and drove it over to my buddies place and man did he smile when he seen that thing cleaned up and running again! That was probably 10 years ago now and both my kids have now grown up learning to ride on that old devil!

Definitely agree with keeping these machines original especially if they are in as good of condition as these. My dad bought one of each year of the 250r quads brand new and he only lightly rode them up and down the road very so often but most of the time they were stood up in the building as show pieces. I still have the 1987 red and white 250r all original down to the tires. There is a Kawasaki tecate 250 three wheeler in very good condition in my area for sale now for $3500.

I have a 1985 ATC250SX and highly recommend it. It is basically the sport version of the Big Red with more suspension and 50 pounds lighter. It is not as fast as any of your ATVs, but is still faster than any 2015-2024 Honda ATVs other than the Rincon 680. It is great for trail riding and doing light work around the house. It has electric start, reverse, shaft drive, front and rear suspension. Other than the 1985-1987 SX and Big Red, the only other 3-wheeler with all of those features is the rare 1985-1986 Yamaha YTM225DR Tri-Moto.
@TheMapleDude1 Жыл бұрын
Yeah I've ridden one... not great handling... but unique for sure.
@Cobra37061 Жыл бұрын
@@TheMapleDude1 You don’t think the ATC250SX handles good? I started off back in the day on a 1985 ATC110. The SX feels extremely stable compared to the 110. I’ve had the SX for 8 years and have never come close to crashing it. It is more stable on the side of a hill than my 50” lawnmower. Even though I would be a little cramped, I’d like to get another 110 and maybe a ATC200S (lightweight and simple). I’ve got a Hondaline trailer hitch on the SX and a Hondaline rear rack that I take on and off. No cracks in the original plastics. I like the solid red color of my ’85 SX better than the 1986 and 1987 models. At 50, I am really liking the electric start. Lol.
@TheMapleDude1 Жыл бұрын
@Cobra37061 I mean it's not as good handling as say the 200x. That's what I was thinking. .
@Cobra37061 Жыл бұрын
@@TheMapleDude1 Yeah, the 250SX outweighs the 200X by about 80 pounds, so you can’t throw it around as easily. The shaft drive and electric start weigh a lot. It can drag a big trailer full of wood though and looks pretty good. We all need a machine for every occasion. Lol. The value of the SX and Big Red has skyrocketed over the past few years. Awesome that you got the rare ’87 X.
