OUR VISIT TO 'CASTELNAUD-LA-CHAPELLE'- A 'MOST BEAUTIFUL VILLAGE OF FRANCE'. DORDOGNE. 'SEPT '23.

It's my birthday, the sun is shining and we are heading out on the bikes to the nearby village of Castelnaud-La-Chapelle.
Getting to the village is a trip in itself...through local corn fields, with lovely views of the countryside.
When we arrive in the village, it's a fair old hike to get up to the top, but the views of the chateau and the surrounding valley make it worthwhile.
The houses of the village are in beautiful perigordine style with stone walls, large deeply-sloping roofs or terracotta tile and wooden shutters.
At the top of the village is the imposing Chateau de Castelnaud, a magnificent castle and also a very impressive museum of war.
The castle has full scale replicas of some of the war machines and trebuchets. Quite impressive on the battlements.
A lovely day out for my birthday! Well worth the effort!! Phew!!

Does anyone know why on the side of the castle exact as on the windows logo there are 2 kids drawned on the side of it? Thats why i actually searched it up

Pretty little place. Was around that area years ago very picturesque. Also went near Souillac. Thanks for the vlog. Biking looked bumpy in places!

Good videos we find them very useful as we are looking to visit france in May this year. Thank you. Please could you confirm whether a 25m electric lead is long enough in France on the campsites you visit.

Hi John. Thanks for watching. Generally, if you watch our campsite reviews, if we find it an issue, we usually comment if you need a longer lead on a site. Generally, 25m leads on large commercial sites are fine, it's the smaller more independent French sites that you usually need a longer lead. We always carry a 10m extension lead... Just in case . 👍🚐

Thanks for showing us where you go on holiday with all the sunshine. I suppose where you live in the UK you are in the midst of winter with snow and ice...according to the weather forecast it will get warmer this week but with very high winds and storms. Stay well and stay safe..

Absolutely! There are little houses and streets throughoug the village. The chateau itself is a major tourist attraction, with a museum and medieval armoury.
