Well, if it's the one in Plumstead, then yes (and it's the only one I can find!) My Nan used to live in the Victorian terraces at the bottom end the rise, the Vicarage Road end. Number 27 rings a bell but I was very young. I think they were knocked down in the early '70s and rebuilt. Nan got moved on to the 9th floor of a tower block by Woolwich Arsenal station.

🙏 Thanks so much -I'm so pleased you liked it 😍 To me it's is so important that locals like my videos, I want to promote the very best of a place. I think Faversham can be a little overlooked, and in these difficult times, I would like others to enjoy your town, safely, to make sure the businesses survive and that when we are out the other side, it still remains as vibrant as ever. Thanks so much for the comment, stay safe, stay well.

Thanks for the lovely video of my home town. Having lived here nearly all of my life, it is easy to take it for granted and ignore just how beautiful a town it is. In the 1920s and 30s there was a peak of about 90 pubs in Faversham. Tanners Street had 4, Lower West Street had another 4, Abbey Street had about 6, the list goes on... Please come back for another visit.

🙏 Thanks so much - That voice, that's me 😊 Gary. I think the pub thing is my not so hidden secret, I love a good pub - not to get drunk; to socialise, meet new people, listen to stories. I definitely think Faversham is a hidden gem in Kent, a well-kept secret. Thanks for your comment; take care, stay safe.

Lovely video of Faversham where I was born and lived until I moved away at 19. It has a lot of unique shops. From the Guildhall down Court Street is a little tiny Lane where my Nan used to live. I spent many many happy hours there with her. Then she moved to one of The Almshouses. I used to frequent the open air swimming pool during the summer. The large Recreation Ground or "the rec" as it is known was a large open space with lots of room for games, swings and a slide. Great days.

I used to live in Faversham up until around 17yrs of age so it was great to see so many familiar landmarks. this Utube was sent to me via a friend to show your Lockdown songs, little did she know that I lived in Faversham What a treat, here I am in NZ Level 4 revisiting my youth :) Keep up the good work guys, I also watched the 2nd video Road Trip which I also really loved

(We have the north Kent coast earmarked from Seasalter along towards Westgate, probably a video of Canterbury once restoration work is completed on the cathedral) Thanks again for the comment, Stay safe, stay well. 😍

Lovely photos and a fair tour of our beautiful town, esp as you featured my hanging baskets (which were tomato plants this year!). The Ship Inn (famously) was not actually a Sheps' pub but part of the Courage chain.

🙏 Thank you so much - it means a lot if a local likes my video. It is such a beautiful place, and we really want to pop back, but only when it's safe to do so. It's about halfway between our home near Aylesford and our families near Herne Bay. Now, what were your hanging baskets? Give me a timestamp, please. Also, is there anything we must not miss when we do pop back? take care, stay safe and all the very best for 2021 😍

A very interesting and informative video, which still retains it`s historic charms, for now anyway. ! As a historian, I have spent a fair amount of time following through that history, whilst enjoying a beer or two in the many pubs. I also found great delight in the wonderful bird life on the water. Sadly, living in New Zealand as I do now, ducks in this country fear humans, as they are blasted off the water every year, so that many rivers here are almost completely devoid of aquatic bird life - the NZ huntin and fishin mentality :( Thanks for the upload :)
@OurWorldForYou
@OurWorldForYou 3 жыл бұрын
🙏 Thanks - we have a few more planned for the summer months, as travel will be a little limited. We've a few more historic towns and villages to peel the layers back on where we can. I didn't realise the NZ hunting was such a big thing, glad we have avoided that. Thanks for the comment - take care and stay tunned 😍

@@OurWorldForYou Yes, sadly, the duck shooting is distressing for many people, and is always a point of contention. Last year, after a delayed start due to Covid, it was an absolute massacre. I live right by a river, so difficult to avoid it :( Anyway, very good news that you may produce some other videos of various historic towns - very good production indeed :) Take care !

🙏 Thanks Terry - I think you've helped me decide there needs to be a part 2. Hands up, I missed some large parts of the town. Next time I will cover the route from the station to the town. As for missing people, it's sort of my editing style. I like to protect people's privacy where I can and certainly won't include children. That's just me. Thanks for taking the time to comment. Hi, thanks for the video, it’s amazing! We are an Indian family, planning to move to Faversham from London. I was wondering if the immigrants are welcome?! Also wondering does people commute to London from this place at all? We have no intention to ruin the village culture but we are just looking for a decent sized place for my big family (2 kids). Any thoughts are welcome!
@OurWorldForYou
@OurWorldForYou 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Kiran, I think commuting will be easy; London is just over an hour away, but you can expect it to be expensive, and if you have to drive to the station parking will be an additional cost. Now to the second part of your question, and a much more difficult one for me to answer. I can say that on our visits, it seems to lack diversity, but I cannot say whether that would be an issue for you and your family. It may be worth visiting and exploring the town and gauging the reaction for yourself. There's another part to the equation as well. That is Faversham is expanding, and new estates are planned, or being planned, and some feel this is unwelcome, and will spoil Faversham. So again perhaps visit Faversham and see if you get the feeling that it is right for you. I have searched for cultural centres that may be able to assist, but I struggled to find any in Faversham that could assist. Anyway, I hope this is of some help, thanks for commenting, and all the best for you and your family in the future Cheers, Gary & Janis

@OurWorldForYou
@OurWorldForYou 2 жыл бұрын
Stevie, I agree with you, Kent is being overdeveloped, and some of the plans for Faversham are horrifying. It seems the UK's housing needs can only be met by huge scale developments throughout Kent. We feel the pain as we live in a small village of 750 homes, and a developer is proposing building a further 900 homes, with a possible development of another 600. Madness and lives are being ruined for greed. That being said, the centre of Faversham is still great, with bundles of history, and we love it for that.
