While I was watching this . I was thinking of all the times we went to Vegas. All the things that we have been through . 1. We rather go to Vegas in fall or winter. 2. There was a time our daughter and I had to get security excort to a new room because the couple were fighting next door . Oh, at this time, our daughter was pregnant with our grandson. 3. Yes, it snows in Vegas. Thank goodness we came prepared 4. We have been woken up a 3am because of a fire alarm, not Pleasant to wake up to. *** But we still love going to Vegas... one of our favorite spots!

That’s a lot of crazy stuff to happen! I never want anything really bad to happen, of course. But I find that these small inconveniences (or adventures) make me remember trips and details that I’d otherwise forget:)

Sadly, it is awful we have to think about Active Shooters. I just watched a documentary on the McDonald's shooting in California in 1984. It was horrifying. It took 77 minutes for a response. 21 people were killed, and 19 wounded. Good idea to have a meeting place if you get separated and cell phones are not working. Great, great video! Thanks!

The world today can be a scary place. I’m glad they installed the barriers between the Vegas sidewalks and the street, but I still catch myself imagining a vehicle driving up while we’re walking. So sad that we have those thoughts during an otherwise happy stroll. I can’t imagine being in an active shooter situation. I hope we’re prepared for anything, but that we never have to find out.

@@TheMidlifeRide - Amen, you definitely have to be aware of your surroundings. As a former high school administrator, my main concern was making sure kids were safe. My worst fear unfortunately, was an active shooter. It is truly sad that we have to think about that these days.

Organized is a very nice way to put it! 😂 We pack around so much stuff that it’s difficult to leave anyplace quickly. I’m constantly scanning and rescanning an area before moving along to be sure we haven’t left anything behind. I envy the people walking around with nothing but what they have in their pockets!

The opening is just awesome! I love the music and the footage of Vegas. Chris is so cool. Cathryn having a good time, priceless. I love the "what Chris carries" I have been planning to do a what "The Frontiersman Carries" because #1 - I don't fly, and #2 - I go to some crazy places. I didn't think I would ever get out of Planet Hollywood one time! I thought I was just old and need to go home and sit on the couch from now on. But, I ran into another couple that said, we cannot find out way out either!!

Thanks, Walt! We definitely need to see what “The Frontiersman Carries.” I think you need a tool belt that can hold a bottle of whiskey and a few glasses. 😂 Vegas is like a maze to me. And, it has nothing to do with our advanced age. I will never figure out the lay of the land. Chris quizzes me every once in a while and he’s absolutely stunned at my responses. I put entire chunks of the strip at the wrong ends. It’s all jumbled in my head. I do think I have a better sense of direction inside the properties than out on the strip.

@@TheMidlifeRide - It's the opposite for me, if I am outside I can navigate really well most of the time. If I am inside a new casino, I get turned around easily. Take a few trips around. The Harrah's Cherokee Casino is so big with so many different nooks that I used to get turned around easily in there, but I know it pretty well, now.

I bring a first aid kit: band aids, bandages, tape. Also fanny pack. I tell relatives and friends where I am going and the hotels I will be at before I leave home. Your video was very informative. Thanks .I got lost in the Venetian and Caesar's Palace.

Good Stuff. And be aware that some of the maps on display aren't exactly pin point accurate on scale. Wife said: "let's walk to Walmart, it's not far". I should've checked - 7 miles later, through the desert in the middle of summer, divorce and/or murder were looming, lol. Got to a bar and all was well! I looked at the map she'd seen and pointed out that the scale on the strip section was clearly marked as different to the areas outside of central LV - doh!

😂😂😂 That sounds EXACTLY like us! I’ve made Chris walk pretty far and in some pretty sketchy places around Vegas before he knew where everything was. Now, he just says “nope, we’ll need a Lyft for that.”

Life's a gamble no matter what you think your prepared for. When we're in Vegas for us it's about just having fun not thinking about how to escape if needed. I get what your trying to say and can respect it but i have to be on guard 7 days a week at home and when I'm in Vegas i stay at my hotel and just want to have fun and somewhat forget for a second how screwed up life and a lot of people are. I'm not bashing u at all and like i said i really do get what your trying to say, but if i have to constantly think of this or that then I'm better off staying at home. Maybe one day we'll be there at the same time and can have a drink or 8. Stay well, keep drinking, and live the best life. 🍻

We certainly understand your point of view and, really, it’s not much different from our own. The point, for us, is to be prepared ahead of time (discussing and planning at home) so that we can enjoy the trip and not have to think about it while we’re there. If we ever meet up, we’ll definitely shoot for closer to 8 drinks:)

I recently bought motion sensitive alarms that hang from the door knob for our next trip to LV. There was a recent string of burglaries of hotel rooms while the patrons were sleeping. Also, we also always pack nasal saline as the hotels and ambient are usually very dry. Helps prevent a bloody nose.

Good thinking! It’s horrifying to think that could happen while we’re sleeping, supposedly safely, in a locked and bolted hotel room.
