Missed the submission deadline. I am biased but I think my plan is most realistic and improves the team the most. Current payroll: $238.8 million Part 1 Non Tenders Non Tender: the following players: IF John Berti 3.75 million RP Tim Mayza: 4 million OF Trent Grisham: 6.3 million Post Non Tender Payroll: $224.75 million Part 2 Trades Trade SP Marcus Stroman, RP Clayton Beeter and $6 million to the Diamondbacks for RP Justin Martinez. Thoughts. Arizona's SP ERA ranked 27th in MLB. Could use a solid rotation piece. At 12.5 million, Stroman is a surplus value player. He is an above average starter who has made 25 plus starts the last 4 years. We have 6 starters on the roster so we do not need him. He does have a vesting option if he pitches 140 innings in 2025 for 18.5 million. Willing to eat another 3-6 million for that, but that's a 2026 Yankees problem not 2025. Justin Martinez is just 23 years old and throws triple digits smoke with ease. Someone who hopefully Matt Blake and company could potentially unlock his closer stuff. He was a former starter so he has a 4 pitch mix to work with. He will be under team control for 5 years. Beeter gives the Snakes someone they could plug into their bullpen right away but doesn't have the upside of Martinez. Trade: OF Spencer Jones, IF Oswald Peraza, SP Will Warren and SP Brock Selvidge to the Cardinals for RP Ryan Helsley and UTL Brandon Donovan Thoughts: Spencer Jones is the prize for the Cardinals in this trade. Jones may be become great. But with Juan Soto, Aaron Judge and Jasson Dominguez in our outfield he will never get a chance for the next decade. Helsey is an elite closer in a walk year and Donovan is an above average glove and bat who who can play multiple positions including corner outfield and has a career .364 OBP. I Play him at 3rd and slide Jazz to 2nd. He Is also under team control for 2 years after this season. Post Trades Payroll: $223.75 million Part 3 Free Agency Sign OF Juan Soto 13 years $585 Million ($45 million AAV) Sign 1B Christian Walker 3 years $66 Million ( $22 million AAV) Sign RP Tim Hill 2 years $5 Million ($2.5 million AAV) Sign OF Michael A Taylor 1 year $4 million Thoughts: Juan Soto is good at baseball. Walker gives us an instant upgrade at first base. I get the concerns about his age (34 on Opening Day) but the Yankees were dead last in OPS at 1B last season and the fact he is the best defensive 1st baseman in the game gives us a lot of cover in case his bat starts to slowdown. Even if he is average at the plate for a first baseman (.730 OPS) that is a massive improvement from the Yankees' .619 last season. For the last 3 seasons Walker has averaged an .813 OPS. Tim Hill was great for us last year and gives us a much needed lefty in the pen. For $2.5 million I think he is a steal. Taylor is a great defensive centerfielder that can give us a late veteran defensive sub for Dominguez if he starts out rough in CF. Or if Dominguez is so bad we have to slide Judge back to CF, Taylor can help keep Judge off his feet a few days when Stanton inevitably gets injured in late May. Post Free Agency Payroll: $297.25 Million My 2025 Yankees 1. Donovan 3B L 2. Soto RF L 3. Judge LF R 4. Stanton DH R 5. Wells C L 6. Walker 1B R 7. Jazz 2B L 8. Volpe SS R 9. Dominguez CF S C Trevino R IF LeMahieu R OF Taylor R UTL Cabrerra S 1. Cole R 2. Rodon L 3. Gil R 4. Schmidt R 5. Cortes L Weaver R Helsley R Martinez R Hamilton R Cousins R Leiter Jr. R Hill L Effross R Thoughts?

From what I've read and seen of Durbin his best position is 2B by far. That's the only position he could ever possibly become a regular starter at which would've force Jazz to play 3B which really is the best use for his cannon arm. He just has to learn the fundamentals of the position during the offseason and he should be fine there.
@fr.damian02Ай бұрын
The moment Jomboy said he's trading for Crochet, Helsley and dumping Stroman I started watching this like it was a comedy show, they're not outbidding the teams that are after Crochet and I don't see them eating money and trading prospects to get rid of their 5th starter who could still eat innings.

Judge will be 33 next year. Move him to first base. That frees up a spot for The Martian to play outfield, and they don't necessarily have to make some kind of blockbuster move with the offense to make a serious impact.

Players on the team/Arb elligable: Retain all except for Mayza, Trevy and Berti (not a fan of a 2 soft tissue injuries and a hip flexor injury for a 35 yr old utility player who bases his game off of speed), also not sold on Brubaker for 2.275 so he's out. Starting Pitching: Unless they can move Stroman (which I don't think they will) I think the depth chart is what it is. Position Players: (3MIL)--Sign Carson Kelly to back up Wells. (his catching value is actually good per baseball savant and is a nice platoon against tough lefties for wells with a .812 OPS vs lefties for his career) and if they aren't going to be able to REALLY load up with Soto why not get a player for the same money that doesn't make the catcher position a potential game changing weakness for 40-60 games a year. (46MIL)--Resign Soto, obviously (20MIL)--Sign Christian Walker (to be honest I want him almost as bad as I want to retain Soto) (8.275MIL)-- Sign Jorge Polanco Relief Pitching: (1.5MIL)--Bring back Tim Hill (4.6MIL for Doval)--Trade Trent Grisham plus random prospect for Camilo Doval who is a slider/sinker/cutter high velo guy. right up Blakes alley (8MIL)--Sign David Robertson ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- TOTAL $299,908,333 Space remaining $91,667

Spencer Jones and more is not even close to enough to get Crochet lmao. Jones is striking out at a near 40% clip, at AA, as a 23 year old. The White Sox are asking for at least an actual top 100 prospect along with other near top 100 status prospects as well. I could 100% see a package of Dominguez and Lombard Jr. and a couple lottery tickets getting that trade done though. Red Sox with the best farm in baseball, Mets with a variance of good young position player prospects, and the Dodgers all have more incentive to trade for Crochet, and have actual offers that they will give the White Sox that wouldn’t get laughed at like “Spencer Jones and Will Warren” 😂

Here's what I think the Yankees should do. Trade Stroman retaining 40% remaining salary Non-TenderTim Mayza and Trent Grisham Sign Yusei To 2-3 year deal worth $15 MIL AVV, maybe a team/player option thrown in Trade Nestor, with Yusei coming into the fold Nestor isn't needed and his overall value is still good enough to get a return Sign Christian to a 3 year $21 Mil AVV Trade for Devin Williams, should be a top 10 prospect at least. Chase Hampton comes to mind with maybe Nestor in this trade? Trading for Arenado should be able to be done with relative ease, a top 6-7 prospect in exchange for Arenado who's contract is $21, $16, $15 Mil should be possible with the cardinals retaining maybe 20% remaining ( this could change depending where nestor goes and if the cardinals would want said prospect however I could see them retaining up to 30% at most due to the rockies already covering a good amount of his contract from the trade in 2021) Even with these signings and slightly overpaying Yusei, the Yankees are still in a good place and with Nolan, Christian, Yusei and DJ coming off the books in 2027 at the same time. It would give the Yankees another possible chance at testing the market. With that being said the Yankees are still left with $991,667 after all said trades/signings docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1-lE12xFtAQmIw3eBHevo1tJsYiYJG9Nbq37mRbc13sU/edit?usp=sharing

Hey guys my name is Victor Giraldez and I am a huge Talkin Yanks fan and even bigger Yankees fan! I hope you enjoy my offseason plan!! I will link my google spreadsheet in a separate comment! Now I'll list the order of operations for the team in short setences: 1. Non tender Tim Mayza and Trent Grisham. This gives us more money to play with and I don't think these guys will get much run on the team next year so I choose to cut them. 2. Resign Soto and Acquire 1B Christian Walker. Walker is essential to the team and he will make this lineup more fearsome and will give us incredible defense at first. 3. Trade #1: Yankees trade with Marlins Send: SP Nestor Cortes, OF Everson Pereira, SP Chase Hampton, MR Scott Effross Get: SP Jesus Luzardo, MR Calvin Faucher Yankees get Marlins to take on Nestor's contract and he gets to play at home. Yankees send Hampton and others to assuage the cost of acquiring 3 years of Luzardo and 5 of Faucher. Jesus Luzardo is rotation depth with the potential of being an ace. He is worth the price and the Yankees get a couple years to mess with his arsenal. Faucher is a high leverage option, similar years as Effross, and can slot in immediately as the 7th inning man. Plus he is a former ray so he's good. 4. Trade #2 Yankees trade with Phillies Send: SP Marcus Stroman, OF Spencer Jones, C Antonio Gomez, 2B Roc Riggio Return: MR Matt Strahm, 3B Alec Bohm *Phillies eat $14,500,000, Yankees retain $4,000,000 Phillies eat most of Stroman's contract which allows the Yankees to pursue on more player in FA. They also send Spencer Jones for the cost of acquiring multiple years of Bohm at 3B and for the Phillies covering almost 80% of Stroman's deal. The Yankees get their lefty setup man in Matt Strahm for 1 year and I think it is reasonable for the Phillies to make this deal since they can get him back in 2026. The big prize is Alec Bohm who is on his way out in Philly and the Yankees would be a great fit. 3 WAR player with a great bat and electric arm. He would hit in the bottom of the lineup and give the Yankees more pop than they've ever had in 7-9 in the Boone era. 5. Yankees acquire Nathan Eovaldi. 3 years, 60 mil. Just enough room for this one but I think they get it done. Eovaldi is fireballer with plus stuff and a is a dog in the playoffs. He would be out #3 and if he continues to perform well, he will make our rotation deep and tough to navigate. Let me know your thoughts below! Hope you enjoyed reading. Thank you! Go Yankees!

@Mzo7tanАй бұрын
I like Bohm and would be thrilled if they acquire him, but he isn't pop
@bradsefart3340Ай бұрын
After Soto, the Yankees need to make these moves. 1. Sign Christian Walker. Adds pop, good defense 2. Resign Tim Hill. Dude was a dawg in the postseason and will be a bit more expensive than they were paying but it shouldn't be crazy. 3. Trade for Ryan McMahon. Please god, let this happen. Give me that swing in Yankee Stadium. The Rockies don't really want to move him so will probably take Jones plus 2-4 other guys. I've wanted this for like 2 or 3 years and there are rumors every year but the Rockies never pull the trigger and I don't know why, its not like they're building to anything. 4. Trade for Devin Williams or Helsley. I'm not sure it can get done after trading Jones and the other guys, but if possible, it would solidify the back end of that pen with Weaver and Hill. I saw someone else say Hampton but he might have to be in the McMahon trade. If you can't get either of those guys I kinda like Kittredge for cheap(ish). He put up good numbers last year but he is 35 so. 5. Bench vet. I honestly don't know who. This all happens after moving off Stroman (definitely have to eat some), Grish, and Mayza. You could also try to move Trevi. It would obviously free up some money for a midseason trade based on needs. This leaves somewhere between 1 and 8 million left. docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/10XCwuLmqvjYIaWZPUbACux_MWAtC-ERwVj7xvW4MqGw/edit?usp=sharing

I like the lists they are very good and make a lot of sense that’s why I don’t see the Yankees doing these moves lol. I like Robert in CF I think the price for Crochet is too high. I don’t think they go after starters but they go for relievers. I think Stroman will be hard to move.

3 names to think about that I think kinda highly of for our ball club. Josh Bell ($5.3m), Max Kepler ($10.2m ) & Jurickson Profar (12.9m). Gotta replace 3 spots in the pen & could use another SP or 2. Never enough. Tanner Scott ($16.8m), Yimi Garcia ($1.2m) & Lucas Sims ($3.9m) Arbitration could get interesting this year. I agree with Brubaker ($2.3m) being a piece. Could also see Grisham ($5.1m), Trevino ($3.6m) & Mayza ($2.9) being let go.

When Judge hit 62 home runs and won the MVP, Judge turned to Goldschmidt to improve his swing. His co-MVP was basically the only one who did anything better than Judge. And it worked. Goldschmidt helped Judge significantly reduce his strike out to walk ratio, which is why, except for an injury and a slump, since 2022 Judge has been EVEN BETTER. 2022 was his most consistent season. He sould work with Soto in the offseason on improving his consistency and coming out of slumps. If you can bring Goldy to your team, do it. Soto is better than Judge at that. That's about the only thing I can think of that Judge can possibly still get better at. I would also like Soto to learn 1st base from Goldschmidt. I think he'd be a natural 1st baseman.
@Tomtomxyz26Ай бұрын
Goldschmidt is 37 years old. Do you really want an older version of Anthony Rizzo?
@Sam_on_YouTubeАй бұрын
@Tomtomxyz26 For 1 year, partially as an instructor with the bat and glove, I'd be fine with it, depending on the amount. Wouldn't be my top choice, but I wouldn't hate it. The problem with Rizzo isn't his age. He was never the same after his concussion. He finally showed signs of doing well in the post season. Rizzo could recover and actually be good next year. He's a gamble for some team (Cubs?) Goldy hasn't had the same issue. And 1st is a position for an older player, so I'd be alright with that for a year if they don't have a better option. But I want Soto to learn the position, taking over mid year if necessary, or in 2026 more likely.
@MrBurrito18Ай бұрын
Judge should be learning 1st before Soto. Judge will need out of the OF soon
@Sam_on_YouTubeАй бұрын
@MrBurrito18 I don't think Judge's skills translate as well to 1st as Soto's. When Judge can't play the field, he'll be the DH. But that won't be for a while. He's still a good center fielder and an excellent right fielder, even without being willing to sacrifice his body. And currently, Judge is a significantly better outfielder than Soto. But I think Soto can be a better 1st baseman.

I really Liked Jimmy’s Cardinals trade, and I agree with Jake that I’ve been gravitating toward Carlos Santana (and Vlad Jr as a FA target next year) as the answer for 1B My plan probably leaves us in a position where we need 1-2 Matt Blake specials to round out the bullpen, but the higher leverage innings will be pretty well accounted for between Weaver, Scott, Hill, Hamilton, and Cousins.. If in my scenario, Hal would give me the opportunity to go over 300M for any player to finish out the roster, it would probably be Jeff Hoffman, although adding a Carlos Estevez or even Clay HOlmes back in a 6th-7th inning role at the right price would be okay if he were the 3rd/4th reliever down the leverage depth chart under Weaver and Scott. To be clear, I am going internal at 2B with Cabrera/Berti/Durbin, and I am going with Dominguez as a full time starting OF. Worth it for the pitching upgrades.
@AlexCreanАй бұрын
One more hypothetical wrinkle is that I have a long shot trade offer for a player who isnt even technically on the market per se, which is why I didn’t include it (both my trades were salary dumps of Stroman and Grisham in our scenario, but if I would find a way to swing this trade, I’d completely rework everything else to make it work.. It’s an attempt at a “blow their doors off” kind of offer to make a team consider trading someone they probably aren’t considering trading, so if it feels like an overpay from the Yankees perspective, it’s supposed to - and it probably would have to feel that way to get the other team to even consider it. Would open up SO many more options in terms of WAR value we have the first basemen we’re looking for who puts up numbers even better than Tex, granted he can play decent enough defense it’s almost a guaranteed 5 WAR at first. Also opens up the spot for Jones negating the need for a trade and if he is what they say he is, he’ll put up similar numbers to Judge early in his career in right. Can address SP and Bullpen in FA along with Soto who should be priority. Just another option to talk about.

Jimmy's team is good and safe. Jake's team is interesting although i rather sign Ha-Seong Kim instead of Polanco because he's the much better defender and he can hit too. If they're gonna put Dominguez in the AAA again then they might as well trade him now for something good before they kill his value further.

My plan is first trade Stroman to STL for Jojo Romero but we will eat 11 mill of Stromans contract but get a great lefty for our bullpen, then we trade Grisham, Clarke Schmidt, Spencer Jones and George Lombard for Mason miller and Hogan Harris who has options and had a great year last year, we would have to eat about 3.5 mill of Grisham contract, then for free agency we sign Pete Alonso at 1b for 7 years 182 mill 26mill a year and we sign Sean Manaea for 20 a yeah probably a 3 year 60 mill with a player option, which then finally means our 2B would be Caleb Durbin and Jazz would stay at 3B with a bench of Oswaldo, Trevino, Lemahieu, and Berti, with Dominguez in CF, Judge in LF and Soto in RF Total Spending is 299,808,333

If we don’t get Soto, is there a world where we see an outfield of Jones, Dominguez, and Judge?

Jones wouldn’t be ready until midsession AT BEST. More likely Jazz/Grish, Dominguez, judge out there.

@etamommyАй бұрын
@@craigmedeck6454 yeah I think yanks prospects have generally not panned out too well. Spencer jones sounded awesome like the lefty Judge but the strikeouts have get fixed…. He is not even in the bigs yet. Nobody is going to want him (trade bait) so he is ours to fix through coaching and player development I think at this point.

Jimmy’s plan seems much more reasonable. Crochet deal is prob unrealistic. Actually Super unrealistic… but Jake’s plan seems pretty horrible. Robert is all talent with minimal results, gets hurt a lot, lazy player too tbh. Can provide some pop and speed but doesn’t seem like a good fit. Polanco horrible defender relying on a massive bounce back year , Santana at 39 is still risky and doesn’t really provide the thump but the glove would be nice

Also IMO, if Soto is back and Dominguez gets the other starting OF spot, the bench OF needs to be a right handed hitter. - The Yanks like Dominguez more from the left - We used Trevi as our right handed pinch hitter in the World Series - Narvaez should take Trevi's spot but isn't necessarily a better pinch hit option - Need to trade Grisham for a cheaper right handed hitter, that can play all 3 outfield spots (Chas McCormick, Tyler Freeman, Dylan Carlson, Michael Taylor)

Yankees need a complete blowup everyone should be on the chopping block except Coles as he was the only one to step up and be a star and maybe Stanton. Soto is by by. You could keep Judge for regular season and leave him off the playoff roster.

I loved Jimmy’s plan and hated Jake’s, but Jake’s was kinda presented like what he thinks the Yankees will do and not what he would do, and it is probably more realistic
