Oura Launches More Accurate Ring, Faces Competition

Oura, the Finnish maker of smart rings, rolled out the next generation of its flagship device, aiming to stave off competition with more accurate health tracking and an updated titanium design. Oura CEO Tom Hale joins Caroline Hyde and Ed Ludlow on "Bloomberg Technology."

the average life of one of these rings is around 3 years before battery life really kills usability and you pretty much need to buy a new one. 3 years of subscription service is $210 so the idea of $200 to never pay a subscription fee doesn't make sense. Honestly though I think this product should NOT have a subscription fee, the idea a $350-500 device gathers personal, unique *health* data and then puts it behind a paywall where if you stop paying your device is a paperweight and your health history disappears is just unfortunate.
