After Haruhi and Tamaki, Honey and Reiko were the best ship. They deserved more scenes together though, or at least some insight of Honey falling for her. All we had was her intro chapter, a few appearances (like her drinking tea with Honey and delaying Tamaki's mother's flight) and then BOOM, revelation that they got married at the end of the series.

The reveal for Haruhi being a girl is also way different! Tamaki is the only one who doesn’t know from the beginning she was a girl. He also finds out by seeing her old school ID on the floor not walking in on her changing. Also, the twins had very inconsistent character designs. But I don’t know much more since I only have the first manga… I actually ordered the second one a week ago!

Ever since I've read the Manga I'm so upset about the Anime. The Manga is just wayyy better in my opinion and the Anime just doesn't show the story of all the hosts. For example the twins (especially Kaoru), their story gets started (Hikarus Date with Haruhi, Kaorus anxiety) but it never really gets solved. The Manga shows way more of that and I love their character developements that you just never see in the Anime. It upsets me that so many ppl miss out on the real Ouran Highschool Host Club story :(

Majority of anime is made to promote the manga and to encourage people to buy the manga. From my understanding, anime doesnt make that much money. Mangaka get most profit from people who buy manga.

im an anime only fan(soon to be mangaa lol) . when i was little i soooo wished that Hikaru and Haruhi would be endgame. I liked their chemistry better and they had more real moments of wack emotions and whatever rather than tamaki calling hmself haruhi's daddy . YK? and kouru narrating the whole thing as it went and the character development. and and the twins opening up AND being told apart by her. IDK MAN their moments were a lot cuter than the other ones. intrestingly enough kyoya's childhood friend and the whole competition thing b/w the 2 clubs were in the live action ver. tamaki's dad being a silly man is also depicted in the live action. honestly it would have been very funny to see that specific father-son dynamic in the anime but oh well

The change that actually upsets me the most in the anime (aside from not being complete of course lol) is the Satoshi erasure!!!! Why couldn't he be there were he should???? Like he's literally there in the Chika episode, why did they literally delete him??? I dont think it wouldve been dificult to add him, and he is one of my favorite characters T____T

Just finished the anime and I’m curious to see what happens next in the manga. Also wow, that Haruhi in Wonderland in the manga is quite different looking than in the anime. Hope a continuation or reboot that adapts the later manga chapters happens someday. I’ve heard some pretty neat stuff happens in the later chapters.

Funny enough the Cultural Festival is pretty much the kick off to more important drama going down so they cut it off at the perfect timing if they didn't think there would be a 2nd season....which is also very unfortunate. This video does a good job of explaining the differences between the two mediums. I read part of the manga a number of years ago (22ish chapters), but I was reading too many mangas at the time and had to place it on the back burner. After watching this, I think I'll pick it up again. Oddly enough, Haruhi is one of my favorite female characters. Her general passivity pairs well with the larger-than-life cast of character leading to some very funny moments.

With the way Studio Passione is handling the reboot of Spice and Wolf this year it makes me hopeful that we might see more (hopefully good) reboots for shows like Ouran, Chobits, and Vampire Knight 🤞 I think the industry saw what a huge hit the Fruits Basket remake was and realized there's definitely a market for breathing new life into these oldies 💕

@westsideotaku1555 No fan subs of the actual show when it was first released. My bad, I got dubs and subs confused. There were a couple of youtubers that would record them on Sunday when the episode aired. The next day, there would be someone kind enough to give them subtitles.

I think the manga super mixed up the timeline. They have a Christmas party as Haruhi's first bug duty as a host with Kanako. But later on they have the 2 Halloween chapters. So according to Ouran for holidays it goes as such. Volume 1- Christmas party. (December) Volume 2- There are no clear dates set in Volume 2. But I believe Physical exams in japan are normally place end of March early April (but Ouran Academy probably can choose when to hold it so I'm counting counting this as an exact date. ) Volume 3- We have the Haloween curse/prank chapter. (October) Volume 5- Summer vacation in Karauizawa (July- August) Volume 6- We have the school cultural festival which is typically held November 3rd. (Although given it's Ouran Academy I'm sure they don't have to hold to the same timeline as most Japanese public schools. (November) Volume 8- another Halloween episode (October) Volume 10- Another summer vacation established (Tamaki is working at Mizuzu's pension to distract himself from his feelings for Haruhi.) (July -August) Volume 14- Haruhi is invited by Hikaru to a New Years eve party (December/ January) Volume 15- Hunny and Mori graduate (March) This is not to diss the Manga but I find it funny how weirdly bent the timeline is. I wouldn't have really noticed if I didn't write fanfic for Ouran and realized since I was following the plot of the manga that I had written the Halloween episode after the Christmas one.

It's mentioned in an early author's note that for the sake of the plot, the characters just don't age at the beginning. That's how we get a chapter early on where it's Spring again, but Honey and Mori don't graduate yet.

The story as a whole really takes off during the school festival in the manga (which that arc is a real treat in and of itself). Definitely a much deeper story after but still filled with the hijinks and personalities we all know and love. I think everyone knows by now that Tamaki and Haruhi was end game, so hopefully no one feels that's spoiler-ish, but in the manga you can definitely FEEL why they are meant to be. And with the resolutions with the reset of the characters just bolsters their relationship. Also, goodness, the drawings with the romance scenes, the pining, and all was illustrated beautifully. Another character not mentioned in the anime was Haruhi's "cousin", she was fun too! Since the anime wrapped up before the manga even ended, I get why the made up Eclair or whatever her name was LOL but please read the manga, people! So good!

Antoinette is also super important because Tamakis Mom has the puppy that is His sibling, which makes him a connecting Point. Also in the Manga there are 2 Halloween episodes at different times (since in like the first 15 volumes or so Hatori chose to completely ignore the fact that graduating is a thing lolol), which they kind of mixed together in the anime. The tournament exists in the Manga, also with the net and what not, but there it's apparent that the black magic club just intended to give the first years a good time.

Mori was my favorite character in the anime and after reading the manga, they gave him so much more depth that made me love him more. AND THE FACT that Mori and Haruhi almost became an item!! Besides that, the moment that stuck out the most to me after reading the manga years ago was Megumi Kanoya. They also put her in the live action I think but the fact she was the fantasy Haruhi that Tamaki had for her; ooooh that gave me so much fear that Tamaki would choose her.

One thing I absolutely LOVE about the manga is the character development of Hikaru and Kaoru, I still preferred Tamaki and Haruhi together more but my God did I fall in love with the twins. This is like, one of the main reasons I want an anime continuation of Ouran.

Also, in some ways, she has a similar role to Kyoya and they could have made a funny duo. It's sad that she didnt even have a second of screen time in the last episode 😢.

I read the manga too, but pretty sure just at that point that you shared. I couldn't keep up with it. I had this routine of going across my city to get to the main mall junction where the holy Chapters reigned there. I used to get that and Psyren before feeling too exhausted to do it anymore while not getting the volumes to carry on. With how I depended on the bus and two times when I started to go while learning about the bus system I have walked the stretches halfway to get there. With how dreary it was and not even that Dairy Queen was enough anymore with how exhausted I snapped out from keep on going over there. I don't remember what volume I had last of Psyren, but it was possibly miles before they could get to the first pier it was working up to or get the mastermind figured out.

.......Um...... be warned - - - The plane plot line does happen in another way and it still involves Tamaki and his mother. The difference tho is that it kind of wraps an entire arc where for many episodes/chapters Tamaki starts earning his place into the family finally and right when he was almost there something bad happens and makes him refuse to see his mother even tho she's finally within grasp, but the club along with the whole school come together to help him get to the airport in time to see her before she goes back home...and of course the one whose words managed to reach him and snap him out of depression was Haruhi.
