Is fitting grips by spraying the bars with hairspray a common thing? I've only just heard about it recently (I've always just wangled them on bit by bit), but it seems like a good idea to me, because it would allow slippage when wet and help stick the grips to the bars once dry.
@rocket69218 Жыл бұрын
@@soots-stayingoutofthespotl5495 Yeah it's common (in the UK around me anyway) I think it has been passed down from motorcycle and scooter riders, it's been the only way I've known since the 80's when I got my first vespa!

I was wondering the same thing but I have a theory: Lock-on grips have a plastic sleeve in the middle so they slide on easily. This means a compromise, either a thicker grip (not great for smaller hands) or less rubber, (i.e less cushioning) . It might also be to do with marketing, i.e BMXers don't want to buy a MTB grip? However, I know one brand (Pilgrips, probably re-branded ODIs?) that sells grips primarily marketed to 26" DJ riders who you'd have thought would be quite receptive to lock-on grips but their long grips are friction fit and only the shorter grips are lock-on.

When I used to run brakes and bought flangeless grips, I actually cut off the flange of my old grips and put them between the new grip and the brake (only brake side) so that my thumb doesnt get cut. I really liked it because they were very beautiful wtp flanges and I could put them on any other grip because they were then not attached to the grip any more🤷♂️ (I dont run brakes any more) I think you could do the same with the Edwin's (except if you are brakeless.. then I dont think the flange will hold really well)

Sorry Ryan but WD40 is the exact opposite of a lubricant. Its a degreaser but people think its a lubricant because they spray it on a part that is covered in old gunned up grease, the WD40 loosens and removes that and therefore your bearing or whatever spins faster. Once you have degreased with WD you should then apply new grease.
@OurBMX3 жыл бұрын
I'll respectfully disagree. WD40 is a water repellent and made from fish oil, which is more lubricant than not.
@googleaccount41593 жыл бұрын
@@OurBMX ah now come on dude. Its like 15% oil so its more solvent than oil. Plus we all know what the first page of google will say to "is wd40 a lubricant?". We also all know that WD40's real purpose is to remove sticker gunk from your Homeless Player and nothing else.
