Grinds are, arguably, the most fun thing you can do on a BMX outside of simply roasting something. Learning how to grind and what to grind on can definitely be daunting, but Demarcus Paul is here to run you through the basics...
Thanks to odigrips.com/ for sponno'n this series and helping us keep the lights on. If you need some grips, ODI has the best in the game.
WHAT IS OUR BMX?!
In short, we are the Ride BMX staff out on our own. We're building from the ground up and our goal is pretty simple. We want to continue what we love. We want to create great content, feature awesome riders, and contribute, push, and show why we love BMX. We sincerely appreciate any and all support... -Ryan Fudger, Jeff Zielinski, Adam Watkins, and Justin Benthien.

I just learned ice pics like 2 weeks ago and I already sent one down a 6 stair rail landed it smooth the trick for me was to land in a higher up Manny position because my balance point with manuals isn't very good and especially not on a rail or ledge but anyways I bunny hop and push that back end down and pull the bars to my chest pretty high this helps because if you can't hold up your Manny u can just use gravity and let it fall down onto the front tire gotta lift tho because if not u will easily go over the bars

My favorite tip that Demo missed in this video is side hopping onto a ledge. Before trying the grind hopping onto the ledge and being confident that you have the height to get your pegs of there is huge. i have found this tip works especially well for learning smith grinds.

These are great! I would love to see a video on how to bail. I think that is a very important aspect of BMX and it's not talked about much. How do I bail from a bad rail attempt? How do I bail from a bad drop or jump? How would I bail in a backflip or if I realize I under or over-rotated a 360? These tips would help confidence because knowing that failure is just a part of learning this stuff and knowing you can get out of failed attempts helps.

Hey I love these videos. I have a question about getting out of Smith. I've seen so many riders do Smith to nose on the ledge and I just don't get it. I'm comfortable doing feeb to Smith but I always come out nose heavy. I would like to learn Smith to feeb. Any suggestions?
@davidsmith_1
@davidsmith_1 3 жыл бұрын
I found the trick to consistent feeb-to-smith was staring at my peg while in the smith, then when you hop out of the smith into the feeble then your back peg sort of naturally drops into the feeble. Practicing smith to ice chinks at the end of a ledge is a good way to practice the feel of hopping out of a smith and leveling out.

Why does he ride left hand drive (sprocket) if he naturally grinds on the left? I'm guessing he's dialled enough to avoid damage but not on opposites? Only asking cos I thought right side hubs were more common.

@DeMarcusPaul
@DeMarcusPaul 3 жыл бұрын
I’m sorry to hear that man! I hope you’re doing better now. I would say just start from the basics again. Even though you can already do a feeble just repeat the process of learning it and doing it on smaller things. That usually helps me build up my confidence with the trick. When I feel that I can do a feeble on a flat ledge consistently, it gives me a little more confidence when attempting something more scary. Trust your skill over the fear! You will eventually come out on top!

I tend to choke up on the hop,. I just suddenly hold back tha pull for some reason. I am quite tall for the bike, but not much to be done, as it is a 21 already. I guess I hunch too much forward or something. I justy end up bonking the front peg hard, completeley missing to get the tyre on, even if it is a super perfect ledge. It is llkie I am acred of something that there is really no chance of happening

Going a bit faster than you think you need to is also really helpful in properly pulling off of double pegs. I remember doing a double peg on a flat ledge alongside a wheelchair ramp and it was like 1 foot tall at the start and 2.5-3 feet high by the time I had to get off and I would have a much smoother and less scary dismount when I went faster.
