I find it so crazy that Karli and a lot of people dream/want to go to college in New York because I live here and just graduated high school and everyone wanted to go away and get out of ny. I’m one of the very few people from my school staying in New York but maybe have Karli check out some of the smaller colleges in New York that give out scholarships and are easier to get into that are just a short train ride into the city so it wouldn’t be such an expense and a safer area to live in if she’s still interested in college/new york. can’t wait to see what she does i’ve been growing up with this channel for years ❤️

I was going to suggest the weekly dinners. My coworker is a new empty nester and was going through a hard time until her husband suggested game night once a week. Their kids come over and they eat dinner and play games and even as her coworker I can see it has made a huge difference in her happiness.

Georgian here! Honestly GA is a good suit for almost anyone. You have the big city, the mountains, AND the beach. So many different lifestyles in one state. As far as weather goes, winters aren’t too terribly cold and summers are humid at times but bearable. Whether you want a tight community to be your home, or live out and have a bunch of property, it’s all possible here.

There is possible to be sad and scared without thinking its depression and anxiety. Reason why I say this is because people are always so on with diagnosise people. Nobody of those who really struggle gets help. It’s human to have up and downs - karli is a teenager it’s normal to be moody.

My family moved from Michigan years ago and when our friends and extended family from up north would come to visit they loved it. Many of them ended up moving down to Georgia as well! The people, the cities, the mountains, theres sooo much to like. We live in the Metro Atlanta area and absolutely love it. Everything but Lake Lanier! stay away from Lake Lanier...

I live in Georgia and I don’t think I’ll ever leave. I grew up in North East Georgia and then I lived in South Georgia for 6 years! As far as weather, it is incredible. You have all of the seasons. You may have a few days a year that are considered the “extremes”, but over all it is very enjoyable. South Georgia does tend to have hurricane situations, but nothing like Florida. I think the most difficult adjustment would be the humidity, but it really is something that you get used to. My dad is from New York and he and my Step Mom and step siblings and half sibling have lived there pretty much my whole life. They moved down to Georgia in 2019 and again, I don’t think they will ever leave. My dad did previously live in Georgia, but my Step Mom, step siblings, and my half sister had never lived outside of New York and they now LOVE Georgia.

The best thing I ever did was go to school 17 hours away for college…I grew up in Pennsylvania and moved to Mississippi and got to learn all about a different culture… I had no idea what I really wanted to do even though I thought I did…I switched my major three times but I ended up learning more about myself than I ever could’ve if I stayed in my hometown…I will say that you make a great point about not wanting her to be in debt but it’s never a bad thing to branch out and learn about yourself so I will definitely say as a parent maybe try to stay open to her exploring if that’s what she wants to do!😌

Karli! You can always take a year off to travel/have fun and then go back to school and pursue whatever you want! I’m about to turn 22, and honestly there’s no timeline and there’s so much pressure from the world but you need to find out what your passionate about right now and what fuels it and that will help guide you! Just know that no matter what you decide, you can always change your mind if you don’t end up finding your passion.

There are so many beaches you can visit such as Emerald Isle , Bald Head Island, Cape Hatteras, Ocracoke Island, Topsail Island, Wrightsville Beach, Atlantic Beach, Nags Head, Carolina Beach, and many more. North Carolina is a mix of weather. You will get to experience it all from rainy days, sunny days, and cold days! It doesn't snow much unless you are closer to the mountains. There are many historical places here and also Pepsi was Born in New Bern, North Carolina. I hope you do more research and move down here, I would love to meet you!!

New York has many huge Universities/Colleges with thousands of 18-year-olds moving to NYC completely alone. So I don't think there is anything wrong with Karli packing up and leaving to NYC at 18 because she will make friends over there. I understand the debt side of things but Karli could potentially land a scholarship that would take care of that. I think she should at least apply to colleges in NYC and see what happens. You don't want her regretting later in life or feeling like she missed out.

College tours will likely be back to normal on campus by fall since most colleges are transitioning from remote learning back to on-campus classes this fall. I earned my associate's degree from community college and then transferring this fall to Eastern Michigan for my bachelor's degree. tell karli to look into some colleges in boston!! you still experience the city life but its a little less chaotic and it’s easier for college kids. the schools here are also amazing. you guys could even move to somewhere like cape cod where you could be close to a city but also separated and by the beach

You should consider being snowbirds! Maybe buy a property somewhere else and live in it during the cold, harsh winters and then rent it out when you aren’t there during the summers!

I would keep that house my parents have a house almost identical to yours in Wisconsin. All my sisters and brother moved out within the last year or two and it’s just me left and I’ll be a 17 in September and a junior in September as well. My parents are keeping there house because they would love to keep it as there retirement home but want to travel. I’d keep that house love your home and your grandchildren will to!!!!

I actually checked out Tybee Island -the thing I don’t like about it is dogs can never go on the beach where at least in some small beach towns like that they don’t allow them in the touristy summer months but they allow them on the beach rest of the months. I was so bummed to learn that.

SC, NC, TN, and east TX all have crazy humidity! So that's something consider. Between the three I love Tennessee! I personally think keeping the house would be great as your family grows but I understand at the same wanting to downsize. My mother in law is wanting to go bigger but wants it all one floor. (She downsized and then within 6 years all her kids got married 😂) Plus in reality your family will always come back where you are ❤️ I just got to the part where you talked about the equity on the house! Makes a lot more sense why you are considering things! Tennessee has a ton of land!
