Yes! I’m 22 now. I had planned on graduating college in 3 years because I graduated high school with many college credits. I got burnt out and had some mental health matters (I prefer to call them projects, not issues! It motivates me) and had to take a couple semesters off! There is no one “right” or “correct” way to do life! For some people, like myself and MANY others, it takes time, learning, experiences, good and bad decisions (because that is how we learn and gain wisdom) and that is okay! Im so glad someone else feels the aame way about ryle. You said it perfectly. The only time i didnt feel sorry for him was when he forced her to read. Other than that he needed therapy and it was crappy how she treated him in the hospital room. Like flipping a switch on him like that and toying with his emotions. The personality of lily as an adult was too cold imo.

You should never judge people until you get to know them, but people will judge people on KZbin just because they have a screen between them and the people they watch on KZbin, thing is if they actually met you in person they aren’t gonna talk crap, it’s only because they know they aren’t actually talking to someone in person, people act differently than they do in person, than on the internet.

Even if someone got help and never beat someone again, the person he did violently attack should not be the person you end up with. Especially one who grew up with an abusive father. We should never hope that for anyone real or fake.

I haven't checked on your channel in a few years, i'm glad to see you and Ken are doing well! Changing your lifestyle to get healthy is a very difficult thing to do, you're trying to break decades of bad habits that lead up to this point. I also struggle with bad eating habits, sugar is my biggest vice. It's like that's all i want to eat, i've cut back and relapsed more times than i can count and i'm not even 30 years old yet. When i start coming down on myself for being weak and giving in, it takes a while to remind myself to use my frustration and anger with myself as motivation to get back on track and do better. I've done it before, i can do it again. Just remember- you're stronger than you give yourself credit for. All the willpower to achieve your goals is already inside you, you just have to access it. Sounds like that's what you guys are doing! I'm proud of the progress you've made!

I've always found it odd, that after Chase being such a huge part of OFN for so many years of his life, that he, almost over-night, dropped out of sight and was no more to be found! I finally get why people sympathize with the abuser. It’s people who don’t understand DV. They are precious and lovely for hand having to go through the trauma but it’s a good thing for them to know you will never know DV like the victims or the survivors. Team Ryle should never exist.

(I apologize for the big paragraph in advance). I waited until I saw the movie to be able to watch your video to hear your thoughts, I just came back from seeing it. I've read the book so I could also tell what was similar and what was different. The one major difference, at least from what I can recall, was that Ryle and Lily got married somewhat properly instead of at Vegas, how it said in the book. I've been Team Atlas from the beginning since I read the book. While I do agree that Ryle definitely needs to get help and go to therapy in order to fully get better from his trauma as a kid, that still doesn't excuse the way he treated Lily. I can fully understand your opinion as well for if Lily were to stay by his side while he gets help and see what happens from that, but if you think about it on one hand, what if he still doesn't change and the cycle just continues with Lily, and maybe onto Emery. That probably sounds a little thinking into it a lot but in reality, people do have to make that choice and Lily had to in the end. Emery could end up being like Lily, possibly seeing her parents get very violent. Yes, loving someone does mean loving them through hard and rough times but I definitely think there's a point where you're getting hurt, in multiple ways, for where the love won't help and there's a stopping point because of that. I could go in circles about how everything is a mess and how I could see both sides, even Lily should be better at communicating a little with Ryle. But my bottom line is, why would you stay with someone who you know is making you feel unsafe and hurt? Staying by their side while they get help is a possibility but that could also lead to you still getting hurt. When you can separate while they get help and if you decide they've changed, get back together. Even when Lily asks the question at the end of the movie and book, Ryle agrees with her to get help. I don't really even think he would recognize that on his own that what he was doing was wrong to begin with, which is also a bad sign when Lily had to repeatedly tell him to stop and he didn't listen. Ryle has reason to be jealous, hurt, etc from Lily not telling him entirely everything but I don't think that means you should be hurting someone you love because of it

Why would you think that Ryle and Lily would be better even when he keeps hurting her and screwing up everything. Ps why weren’t you an atlas fan?
