Helpful tip - buy timed tickets in advance. Also, when we went preCOVID, they didn’t care about the time on the ticket as long as you had one. Yes Mexico city can be expensive depending where you stay. Transportation, Uber is good. But you can also use Metrobus and the subway. Yes the subway can seem scary but there is a section for females only. Supermarkets can be good but if youre lucky enough finding a market it can help with spending. Even at $3500 USD you are still cheaper than we are as a couple in San Diego. We were in Mexico city for a few days last month and realized we would probably not save much on a 2br apt (assuming we were in La condesa or roma norte) but we would save on virtually everything else so a net savings overall. I had to sample your vlog as I’m running out of data here in Brittany, France and I need some for Budapest in two weeks! Looking forward to watching it end to end real soon. How do you manage for phones by the way. For internet access out of a Wi-Fi area? One question so far. And it might seem odd but I have to be a bit careful at high altitude. And Mexico City is 7000+ feet up. Did you notice? Fatigue, headaches, nausea? Interested if you felt anything. Once more big thanks for all the feedback and helpful tips. And I hope the open plan bathroom worked out for you! Ps. You had a super lush apartment in a superb area. The cost was nothing compared to the same thing in, say, New York. I would say pats on the back all round. The money spent is now just a figure on a balance sheet.

For our excursions in Mexico City, we were able to bring the dogs along for the boat ride. For visiting the ancient sites, we used a pet sitter for the day, who we found on a pet sitting platform. Mexico City actually has a lot of pet sitting options, unlike other cities that we've visited. We never leave the dogs alone in the Airbnb as this would cause them a lot of anxiety.

Bianca, you will be fine. Mexicans love to be helpful, and they're very patient, so you're set. I lived in Mexico for 6 years, and I wanted to speak Spanish 100% of the time, which made me feel as if I were disappointing them because they wanted to practice their English. The most dangerous parts of México are at the North of the country (Tijuana, Tamaulipas, Monterrey, etc.) But the central part it's a lot different. Stop watching Fox news 😅 or any other american media because they will only tell the Bad stuff. Tell your colleagues to watch more KZbin videos like this one, and they will be excited to come.

It's great that you come to visit the city, but as a local and an owner of two apartments in the area of the Condesa I have to say that indeed Roma-Condesa is one of the most beautiful neighborhoods in Mexico City, but it is not all Mexico City. Probably other nice neighborhoods would be Polanco, Coyoacán, Narvarte, del Valle, but that's it. The rest of Mexico City lacks of green areas and water due to the real state boom. Also, I'm sorry to say it, but most of the native neighbors hate street food vendors because they pollute the streets and water by throwing their residues to the sewerage, they don't pay taxes unlike actual restaurants and most of them steal the light. Their existence is just because most locals can't afford restaurants in trendy areas as Roma and Condesa. Not trying to ruin traveler's idea, just trying to be realistic.
@OurFreedomYears2 жыл бұрын
These are excellent points - thank you for sharing your perspective. As tourists, we only get to see a small slice of Mexico City and, of course, we don't necessarily get exposed to the issues that residents face.

Great Great video. I did not for a second thought it was expensive considering arbn, food, dog food, tours and everything else in between. In fact I think is very good price for everything

I find interesting that people come and stay for weeks and don't get to see all. Missed the great hiking spots there are, the highest one is 3,600 meters above sea level in West Mexico City.

Yet another great reason to return to Mexico City soon...we really enjoy hiking. 😊

Hello Ladies I pay 1500 Cad Dollars for a two bedroom apartment in the main floor with parking and a Terrace near Downtown Montreal , the same apartment in Toronto or Vancouver if am lucky would cost me about 3500 Cad Dollars so you had a pretty good deal in a fancy neighbourhood in CDMX
@OurFreedomYears2 жыл бұрын
You've done well! Great deals are still to be found in Montreal while Toronto is super expensive. We felt pretty good about our lovely place in CDMX 😊
@DenLD2 жыл бұрын
I don’t think that pricing is all that bad. If you were in any other major world city it would probably be the same or even more, and you can’t beat that location as a jumping off place to explore. I think you did great.

You guys should do a vid on some of the logistical challenges like getting local internet; do you get sims and how , products you use for safety (such as packs that work, and any other security that two women would use) logistics for visas when needed and all that sort of thing for those of us that want to follow a similar path of traveling full time.
@OurFreedomYears2 жыл бұрын
We do have a number of those points covered off in our blog posts. You can check this one for travel logistics ourfreedomyears.com/logistics-of-our-life-on-the-road/ And more logistics and related expenses in this video: bit.ly/3PzbhVB We also talk about safety concerns in this video as a female couple traveling full time: bit.ly/3vLc8Yo Hope that helps!

Can you share the airbnb please! I’m looking to book one for 3 weeks with one dog but so far the one we’re almost leaning towards is $2000 total 😅

Also, where did you leave your dogs when you went to the Lucha Libre show? Or were they with you? I’m wondering if they let dogs in

@@ivonneexyz I'm guessing the dogs stayed in the Air BnB for a few hours. They're pretty well-behaved little guys, it seems. :)

If only! No dogs allowed in for the wrestling match. We used this site to find a sitter www.cuidamimascota.com.mx/ and left the dogs with her a few times when we went on big excursions. We were happy with the overall experience and would recommend.

It's massive. I love Roma because its central and very walkable, but I would have to say, my favorite neighborhood in Mexico City is Coyoacan.

The occupancy tax sounds more like VAT (16%) this is a federal tax that applies to almost every purchase you do in Mexico (food is exempt) and is the same across Mexico ( except the border) plus 2% of hotel tax: 1,692+ 169= 1861, VAT 16% 298, Hotel tax 2% 37

It we didn't really notice it except for a couple times when we felt like we had a bit of a sore throat after a long walk through the city.

I think what you spent for a month is pretty decent. We went to CDMX for a long 4th of July weekend this year. We went mostly to see the museo de Frida K and also Trotsky museum. Anyway, we ended up spending 2K total. The air fare along from Tijuana was $700 for 2, hotel, restaurants , Hochimilco, cabs, it all cost us 2 grand in 4 days and it was woth it:))

I was just in Mexico City for 8 days. I go periodically as I'm in LA. So, it's super easy to grab a flight last minute. And I speak Spanish on a pretty high level so this allows me to save in so many small ways by avoiding ubers and simply asking people which bus to take (most chilangos know I'm not from CDMX but think I'm from some other part of Mexico). I find the best value is in the street food. If I'm going out in your neighborhood, I only like high end bar restaurants in Roma Norte with indoor-outdoor seating that will allow you to enjoy drinks and appetizers. But most of my entertainment comes from the street culture. I have never once gone to Xochimilco or Teotihuacan...and the only good museum is the National Anthropology Museum and Casa Azul. I don't think you did too badly for your Airbnb.
@OurFreedomYears2 жыл бұрын
Sounds like you know Mexico City really well! I'm sure speaking Spanish fluently is very helpful...opens up so many more opportunities. Have fun on your next visit! 😊

Did you look at hotels in Mexico city that allow dogs? I wonder if it would be cheaper than that Airbnb. Did you finish the dorilocos? 🥴
@OurFreedomYears2 жыл бұрын
Since we were staying for a full month, an Airbnb was a lot more practical. But we'd certainly look at hotels for a short stay. And yes, we ate the entire bag 😂
