I have been trying to put my finger on what sets your blogs apart from other chateau channels, and it isn't your content despite the fact that your property is beautiful and your videos are well made. I think that the reason I watch your posts is the quality of your commentary. I love how natural you are, and your dry wit. The fact that you are nice to animals and that you seem to really like one another is reassuring too.

I too am new to your channel and enjoying every bit. One suggestion I will make is to oil the iron window hardware as you go about refinishing them and removing the years of coated paint. It will protect the finish and give you a wonderful patina as time goes on. Are you keeping a log book as to what you did on each project? Then make a maintenance log as well. The goal should be to have a fine tuned Chateau Estate that will last for years to come. Cheers!

May I suggest putting some wood hardener before replacing the parts so it doesn’t happen again. It appears there is some wood rot from water maybe. The black is daring, but it will be lovely. Can’t wait for the reveal . As far as my research goes the bolt catch has no name, it’s part of the bolt hardware. Closest I’ve found is they are end glides or bolt catches. Or strikes. One site calls them top and bottom stops or sockets
@daisylovelock95532 жыл бұрын
Love the black too. Been a favourite through the years for Châteaux as they were the only ones who could afford it originally! The trend in the larger ones was to use it on the skirting boards to allow the rooms to " float". Fantastic choice.

Love the black!! One of my favorite gardening YT people is The Impatient Gardener. She uses black in her garden spaces, and that led me to using it more and more in the house. Turns out black is a grounding color and I'm using it in each room (sometimes it's just having the radiator painted black). Anyway, love that you are "bold" and using black. The room is probably done by now, but I've been binging from the start in between working on our 1927 NJ Bungalow. My husband and I are so enjoying your channel!!

qué maravilla ver que tan duro trabajo os compensa con la enorme satisfacción de saber que estáis dando nueva vida a una casa de muchos años de historia. Los cierres de ventana que tenéis ahí son " fallebas" en España. Hi Guys great work i'm a little behind but i am following along love the hard work you both are putting into your amazing "money pit" lol. playing along doing research to answers you already probably have. so what i have learned from a little research the locks and bolts on windows are "Espagnolettes have a drop-hang lever to operate the bolt" , much like the handles on the back of trucks. and the other type is ''Cremone bolts use levers, knobs and thumb turns accompany either of the latter depending on the cremone bolt". thanks for sharing the bill will in the mail...

Hi fooks, to avoid a lot of work getting lots of paint from the Cremona locks I have seen others putting these metal parts in a wood burner so it will burn of the paint. This will do no dammage to them and as said saves a lot of work so faster to come to painting them in the colour you want. Best regards, Frank from Purmerend the Netherlands.

Not sure if they are around in France, but maybe at a brocante. I know you are short of the window hardware piece but maybe take one with you on brocante outings and ask what they are. Love your channel. Have been binge watching all your episodes. Do you plan to do a question/answer vlog episode? If so my questions are: What are the future plans for the chateau? How much of a Reno budget do you have eg you said you wanted to put in a pool? What did Lincoln do for a career in the States? Have you two done many house renovations together (you seem to have a lot of skills)? Have you met/conversed with any other Chateau owners eg from Bordeaux Life, Chateau Diaries eg La Londe, the Petherwicks from Chateau de la Basmaignee - Billy would be a good resource etc?
