I donated to your GoFundMe kitty cat fund. This is the first time I’ve donated to any KZbin channel I’ve ever joined. (I’ve only joined this and one other). While you may have tons more money than I (and I cannot afford to even go to Paris although I have been before), you are doing something unique and I admire you both-you are not selfish people, but you are so generous and kind, and you work so hard. Even though I’m considered to rank among the very lower middle to lower class, I can find €20 to help you help more kitties. I hope more people decide to do that. Thank you for all you do for all the animals in addition to your own. I love watching your channel so much! You have improved my life incredibly! I hope someday you decide to sell your apple cider on the US market (or to your subscribers). I would love to buy it, cider here is so bastardized! Thanks again for allowing us to share in a small part of your lovely lives! Love to all the kitties, Uvea and Dominick, to you and Lincoln, and to those 2 children you have living in the witness protection program 🤫 (just kidding)!

Amanda & Lincoln, I wish we could bestow upon you the honorary title of Dr. & Dr. Doolittle, DVM. I know just as in the movie that the animal world around you speaks kindly about these two who came from across the pond 🚣🏻‍♀️🚣🏻‍♂️ to care for those who have been forgotten 🐈🐈‍⬛🐾🐴🐴. When you start to replant 🍎🍏 the Apple trees, can you speak to which varieties do better in your area versus others? I've recently discovered a blend here, the Sugar🐝bee, in SoCal. That not only is delicious but also quite expensive at $3.99 per pound 🥺.

I'd transfer the leggy lavender to another site and just clean the area out entirely - the roof is so low if you expose what stone work you have it will give you a nice economic but clean look. Vegetation just distracts - if you want bulbs and you have a big pot place at the corner.

Love your show. Sorry you had so many bumps along the way in the past week. Suggestion on what plant to put down in front of the long building....we put down 'cat mint'. A very long row of it is stunning. It has a beautiful purple look through many months. It helps the bees...they love it. and the best thing...your Cats will love it.

Tulips good, boxwoods= too much trimming…..maybe a taller shrub that doesn’t need a trim like a hedge? Breath of heaven is pretty like a bouquet, small pink purple blooms in spring and when you brush against it, it has a sweet subtle scent.

Another great video and so much going on. Often builders quote based on factors as your post/zip.code, how big your house is, if you are foreign or if they don't want the job. The quotes you got were madness. I think hydrangeas like annabelle would look amazing, low maintenance, nice shapes in a few years time and look lovely. And come on any non subs that watch, you are so close to 50k

Amanda, l love your channel & rapport w/Lincoln & those damn kids! You inspire & always make me smile. You & Lincoln are such caring & giving beautiful souls. May you & your family be blessed. Whatever you plant will thrive & look beautiful. It took me years to work with the animals, especially deer, yet have a beautiful, successful landscape. Any or all of these are deer resistant, low maintenance, good year round, providing a mix of color with every season. ◆Weigela Electric Love ◆Japanese Spirea or Double Play Gold Spiraea ◆Junipers - golden tips & blue chip are my favorite ◆Arrowwood Viburnum ◆Witch Hazel ◆Bright Gold Yew ◆Red burning bushes my favorite especially in the fall & as backdrops ◆Dappled Willow I've had deer occasionally eat these blooms. ◆Hosta plants ◆Gatsby Gal Hydrangea

I think you should cut that lavender down but don’t dig it up. Plant hardy climbing roses along the wall which are really easy to maintain and hardy. Rock roses are nice and utilitarian in that they are very disease resistant. If you do tulips you’ll only have a show of flowers once a year… which you totally can still plant among the roses and lavender.

Love your progress! Tulips would be perfect along the pumphouse. Boxwood would need to be trimmed and edged? In Florida we use lots of low bromeliad for edging, which self care.

Since your wood fired boiler is such a beast to use and needs to be tended to often Have you thought about perhaps prioritizing the space that it lives in? Meaning cleaning up the area stocking up a large supply of firewood, inside the basement near the boiler and providing a comfortable space to maybe spend some time. Such as adding a TV or sitting area since you might need to spend a great deal of time down there.

Ehm, if I recall correctly (I'm not French) theres a local hunting club that administrates all hunting activities. In France, entering private property for hunting is not necessarily illegal - there should be a game management plan at the club and if you want your property excluded there's an administrative process to facilitate that. You have to adhere to the official process here (by law). I think they csn even deny your application if I recall correctly, I'm pretty sure it has to be accepted by the clubs president to go into effect, but you have to double check this to be sure. In Europe it's not like in the US - hunting is treated as a common and people do have legal access to others private property. Here in Switzerland in my state we can legally access all land for hunting incl private, as long as it's not a federal or state game preserve. You may want to look into that. Where I am you can even be fined if you interfere with an ongoing hunt, so you might want to be careful and be sure to know the legal situation. Oh, and you csn definitely toss dead animals in the woods. Predators, foxes but also small animals like weasels or birds of prey feed on it and thus it doesn't go to waste. It's really the natural cycle and I find it fitting that other animals would be able to sustain themselves. Burying it is a very city person kind of thing to do 😅

For your cat with allergy, (we have a "special" cat also...) did you try de brand Royal Canin, "Hydrolysed Protein" ? Its very good and healthy. It's dry food for her but of course more expensive, for cat with special condition (I should call her Princess... 😉). Highly recommended by our veterinary. Since she eat this, she can keep it in her stomach.

An additional bit that I didn’t know about lavender and passing this on to you is that lavender will repel preying animals like deer for instance and insects too…..they won’t touch it. Most people are aware of lavender’s cleansing/clearing and soothing effect on sleep and why it’s used in sleep pillows and refreshing rooms instead of toxic artificial sprays. Lavender essential oil is truly an amazing substance! Would hydrangea bushes in that space work to add color and beauty?

Of the several lavender farms which have sprung up here in New England, ALL of them suggest making sure the lavender is grown in an area with as much sandy, (yeah Cape Cod!) well drained soil as possible plus a spot with the most sun all day long as possible. They do cut them back each year, so their growth for the next season is remarkable. Yes many varieties depending on what usage. Many farms have now planted the variety called ‘Phenomenal’ because of it’s grand color and fragrance.

1. Don’t feel bad… I think the ups and downs are a cyclical part of owning an old French property… thanks for the honesty… we needed to see it’s not just us that face the many downs and ups as well! 2. We also received outrageous quotes for windows and doors… now also reevaluating to keep and refurbish the old… cycle up and update 😅 3. Clean up seems constant … and the feeling of being all over the place and not where you planned is constant… 4. The walled garden is looking amazing! Keep it up… hopefully you can find a local calvados maker to maybe come get the apples 5. Have you found homes for all the kittens … our neighbor just lost her kitty 😢 so I will ask if she would like a cute kitty 🐱 Keep it up! You are amazing and have a unique property with caring owners ❤🎉🎉🎉

The garden area in front of that pump house, I think I wouldn't do a row of boxwoods (or a caterpillar-resistant shrub), I'd just put them spaced out with each end having an oval rounded topiary shrub (maybe a yew?). Then between the spaced out shrubs plant all your bulbs. It might be fun to do a mixture of bulbs, like tulips, anemones, etc., for Spring, and then hardy bulbs for summer/fall like some of the gladiolus relatives that making clumps, lycoris, amaryllis belladonna, and the like, with colchicum and autumn crocus, cyclamens, etc. There are lots of cyclamen species that will grow here, and you can extend their bloom by growing the various species. The stone is pretty so it doesn't need to be hidden behind an entire row of shrubs, just the spaced ones to give structure with the two end points. That'd look good all year, and spectacular when in bloom. You can always over-plant the bulbs with things like primulas, violas, English daisies, and the like, that will last for years.
