Cindy yeah so true! I live in Germany but my parents come from Vietnam with Chinese (Teochow) ancestors. Growing up I only spoke to my mom and dad in Teochow but there are no gaginang people around here I can talk to. It makes me sad that this language is going to get extinct. Anyways I‘m still proud to be Teochow!

It's not just gruel, it's a lifestyle! I love congee, make all the time. Don't really need this, but here in the future some rice-cookers will make it, when I learned this my life really improved! So, eat more rice porridge, people! Another thing that changed my attitude toward this was visiting a congee restaurant! They had a long menu and were cheap and popular. I realized that there were dozens of famous versions but that also I could use odd things from the refrigerator... just vegetables one time, meat another time, century eggs and pork if I have that, fermented tofu, chili oil. I think I can never get tired of this cheapest dish!

Always went there, uncle Boo is a nice and friendly. Their best dish is their steam fish fresh at reasonable price...of course that include their sambal long bean, chiili sotong, baised duck etc .....lots more nice dishes which cant listed down here....go & try yourself.
