When I cleaned my oven, I used baking soda with just a little dawn and vinegar. When the mixture came together it was extremely bubbly. I used a paint brush to apply it to the oven. Let it stay overnight . Used old towels and warm water to rub the bubbles off. I was sure I would need to throw the towel away.But to my surprise the towel was spotless and my hands were soft. Best job I ever did. I have used that mixture on lots of other things and it worked winderful.

Mrs. V, try sprinkling baking soda over the cookie sheet and your oven and then squirt or spray the dawn/vinegar mixture over the baking soda. Let it sit and do its thing, then go back and wipe down. It has worked for me. Worth a try. Love ya 😊

This is also what I do I wait an hour to clean my stove inside and burner trays. Works great. I actually did this last week and was face timing with my sister in law and she was asking did I get a new stove bc it was that white again on the outside, so I told her what I did to clean oven and top of range and she did the same.

I also do this. We can buy 20kg off bicarb so I use plenty for all sorts. Borax is also helpful. Thanks Bev for the Vinegar/Dawn cleaning spray recipe, I have been using it for 6 months or more now on everything that needs cleaning! Love it.

another idea, that has worked exceptionally well for me, is Powdered Dishwasher detergent.. sprinkle liberally with the detergent any pan,(baked/burnt on bbq sauce is no problem) and hot water.. let sit at least 30 minutes, over night for really awful jobs. Steal scrubby and rinse.. Loved this demo!

After watching this, I can now justify having my cooker professionally cleaned annually. It costs little more than £1 a week and every bit gets cleaned, both ovens, grill and stove top. It looks like new and they even clean the grill pan. God bless the man who arrives promptly every October. I live in England, but bought Dawn via Amazon to try it. Very good, but, very expensive at £8.99. I can get a Fairy liquid twice the size for £2 and they must be cousins, if not sisters. Glad I tried it though and it works fabulously well on glasses, making them sparkle. Stay safe x

I like to use baking soda and vinegar for cleaning my oven. I use it at clients homes as well. I clean houses for a living.

Thanks for your honest demonstration. This is the first time I ever cleaned an oven in the 55 years of my life. I have asthma, and harsh chemicals are rough to breathe in! I like your method. I rather work my muscles to clean the oven than to have spotless from harsh chemicals.

I dont know about Dawn and vinegar. But I do know about vinegar and stainless steel tea kettles. 🙂 To remove the calcium buildup on your kettle fill it just above the calcium buildup with vinegar. Put it on the stove and turn on the fire. Bring it to a boil the turn it down to a gentle boil/simmer. Let it go for 10 to 15 minutes. Turn off. Let cool. Put that vinegar in a bottle to reuse again. Wash, rinse and dry the kettle. Wa-la! A brand new kettle!🙂

Mrs. V I also recommend a steel wool sponge and some oven cleaner. Make sure that you wash it thourally after using oven cleaner on it.

Trying it here Mrs.V just because its YOU recommending we try it, will try a thicker gel, more dawn and less vinegar, leave it overnight and in the morning, adding elbow grease! You're AWESOME Mrs. V and yeah, that's how dirty our oven is, we've had lots of oven usage but "no time" for cleaning, well like you'd tell us MAKE TIME JOE! ;)
@jmsuther014 жыл бұрын
I use this method quite sucessfully. You are however missing two ingredients!!. First, warm your oven before starting. This alone may be enough to activate the vinegar. But second, you can also sprinkle baking soda over the vinegar-dawn mixture. Leave this overnight and rinse in the morning. I put the dawn-vinegar mixture into a spray bottle fromthe hardware store, one specifically made for handleing chemicals so the vinegar wont damage the sprayer.

Thanks!!! I wont use the automatic oven cleaner either. But I won't due to several years ago after we had Thanksgiving dinner it was turned on when we set down ot eat. Well before now alarms going off and had to call fire dept. It had caught fire and they had to move it outside quickly. Said good thing is automatically locked of the fire would of been terrible if I would of opened the door. Then got a new one it has that option to but doesnt lock automatically. So by hand it is.

Dry it, sprinkle baking soda all over it, put white vinegar over it. Do this outside, gets messy lol. Let it sit about 20-30 minutes and then hot kettle (boiled) water rinse it off. Helps a lot!

You have a SELF CLEANING OVEN ! Like they say, use the force so USE THE BUTTON! All you have to do if you want is pick any big pieces out. Then let the self cleaning do its job. The stoves and elements are made for it. Once done there will be just a bit of soot on the bottom of the oven and you wipe it out or use a brush.
@cinnamongirlscafe64414 жыл бұрын
I know had hard time to clean stove grates until I put them in large TRASH bag with ammonia! Sealed the bag left overnight and they came clean so easily. Encasing them helped! Not sure if that would work in your oven. I use a degreaser like Fulsol or a grill cleaner! Don't like using oven cleaners!

What I found worked was baking soda water and balled up tin foil. The only thing is baking soda needs to be thoroughly rinsed off as much as you can. Let it dry and you may need to rinse again. But it works especially on the window part

Great video and I love the real results. I wonder if a person used the stronger % 'cleaning' vinegar if you could use less vinegar to help the thickness? Another reason not to use the self clean cycle (ask how I know) is that it shortens the life of your appliance. Like you, I can't do oven cleaner sprays so I'm anxious to give your mixture a try. Thank you, Bev!

Buy yourself some pumice stone. Make a paste of baking soda and DAWN. Coat the inside of the oven with that nice and thick as it will stick. leave to set up for an hour or more. Get yourself a couple rolls of paper towel and vinegar in a spray bottle. Spray the dawn and vinegar in sections and wipe out with paper towel. Anything left can be safely scrubbed away naturally with the pumice stone!

Hi! Just found your channel a couple of days ago when I was looking how to darn a duvet cover. That was a great video and this one is too! My stove is very old, no self cleaner option but will try the dawn and vinegar combo! I had tried before to clean the tray burners with baking soda and vinegar and left them overnight in ziplock bags as per a tutorial I had found. It did an ok job but didn’t take out everything, will add dawn next time. What is tough to clean, and has layers of burnt stuff from pervious tenants, is the area below the burners 😬 Will also try the dawn or some of the other suggestions in the comments. Love your videos! 😀

I think I used straight vinegar to clean my oven last time. I soaked paper towels in it and laid them in the bottom over night. Then cleaned it out the next day with vinegar and water. Baking soda and vinegar for the tough spots. Then clean it all out with soap and water. It worked, but it was a lot of scrubbing and my oven door doesn't seem to come off so it's hard to get back in there really well for me.

If I have a pan that is burned in the bottom, I put a little bit of water in the bottom and cover it with a new dryer softener sheet. I leave it overnight. The burned layer wipes right out with no scrubbing. Sounds strange, but it works.
