I have lived in Little Rock all my life and don't remember seeing this house! If only I had a million to save it!! Thank you so much for showing me a place where my family history occurred. I hope someone with lots of money and vision buys it and loves it.

@mfredcourtney, I hope you're the new owner__how cool would that be?!!! You might have taken equity out of your present home for the down payment, restored it over some time and kept it in your family. If I had $350,000 to purchase a house I would have jumped on this one__I wouldn't have minded doing the cleaning this house needs to bring it around, just gotta have some good tools/supplies. And I DEFINITELY would've stripped the paint off all the wood surfaces, as well as scrape paint off the windows! MAN__what a bargain this house was! 💖😺

I have lived in the Midwest all my life, and when I see a home like this, I see a home designed before air conditioning, designed to protect the family from the extreme cold, heat and storms that the Midwest can see. To be fair, when the weather is beautiful, it's extremely beautiful. Frank Lloyd Wright homes have the same sheltering look.

I'm in the opposite position in that I want to restore my Craftsman home and keep the original charm and features but many contractors will offer to upgrade the house with modern features. I'm getting the underside of the eaves repaired and repainted, for example, and a contractor said I really should install metal or vinyl soffits to the roof. Craftsman style roofs have open eaves and exposed rafter tails but no soffits. I just kinda chuckled and said I'd consider his quote to be polite but I knew I definitely wasn't gonna hire that guy.

Once back in the mid 1950's my Aunt said, Why do we have to go to that God forsaken place ? Her husband worked for The Missouri Pacific Railroad. She's been here since. They settled in a house in the Argenta area, of North Little Rock, the house I remember most, was built in the 1880's and put on the Historic Registry in the 1980's . I couldn't afford to buy the one in the video, But would love to see it fixed up. My house was built in the 1950's. Me and my brother own it, now that our parents are dead.

Someone built this house with so much love. You can tell by all of the attention to detail and all of the little extras that they didn't have to spend money on, but they did. It's a lovely arts and crafts. It's pretty close to mine here in Texas and I can tell you these houses are so well constructed that they stay warm in winter and because of the thick walls they stay cool in summer. I'm so surprised at all of the features that they included. Now would be the time to snap it up under asking. If you check the price history on the listing, it was $209,000 but is $50K off that now and I'd go in with a cash offer of $135,000.

Except that the host said during the beginning of the video, that restored houses in the same neighborhood, the " historic Quapaw Quarter", are selling between a half -million to a million dollars. Now, there may have been a period of time in the past where the neighborhood was changing for the worse, however thankfully, judging by the real estate prices, the neighborhood seems to have pulled out of it.

Many, many years ago, a family from Vietnam were sponsored to live in the US. They were offered a nice home in a nice neighborhood. No one thought to ask or show them how to use modern appliances. Stove / oven. So they built a contained fire in the middle of the kitchen floor damaging the floor. We as Americans take so much for granted. When I was a young boy, many years ago, the home next to me was a Mission-style home. It had been built 40 years before by the (then elderly) couple who still lived there. They did nothing whatsoever to change the house over the years so I was fortunate enough to experience and enjoy what the home was intended to look like. The room off the kitchen was referred to as a breakfast nook and not a butler's pantry. It had the same type of cupboards and even a "back" staircase coming from a landing 3/4 up which met the main staircase which went to the front hall and door. In the open area you have were some windows and the original oak table and two benches with a period light fixture over them. This room was used only for breakfast. Another door lead to the totally original kitchen, much like the one in your home. I thought this might be interesting.

Imagine that house, with the repairs done, the bad additions removed, all rewired and all the woodwork stripped back, everything repaired and reinstated... A new, beautiful kitchen, made to look original. A cozy breakfast nook. Some custom, colourful stained glass, strewn all across the house... Landscaping all done, and just the sun, beaming through all of those windows.... 😍

This is such an amazing Arts & Crafts era home! What really struck me was the generous size of the place, and the integrity of the craftsmanship. In California the A&C bungaloes were really popular in the era, and many had stained glass incorporated into the windows and interiors. It's a shame that all of the woodwork has been painted chalky white, which would have originally been mahogany stained I'm assuming. Love all of the textured brick, and unusual bays of windows... I can imagine how beautiful this house was once with the copper light fixtures, and A&C furnishings. Hope it's new owners revive it's unique spirit and restore the place instead of modernizing everything (like a 'tract' house🙄).... 🙏💛🍀

I love the purple bathroom suite! I’d keep it if possible. My Auntie had the minty green suite in her house. She had matching towels and curtains. I loved going to her house. We had the generic white ones.

If seen a lot of wild colors in bath fixtures, mostly from the 50's - 70's, but I have never seen purple. I would definitely say that it a keeper since it is both quite unique and part of the history of the house.

Fantastic house. That’s the house of a lifetime. We are restoring a 1900 house. It’s a total hassle to have to redo woodwork, electric plumbing asbestos but every once in a while including watching videos like this I remember that I really love this place

That's exactly my thoughts seeing this video. I've revitalized and restored a 1925 house for 16 years in Amsterdam NY mostly myself with a super tiny budget and just finished all of the inside work. It was overwhelming at times yet I look at it now and so happy I kept going and can enjoy it now.

Never thought I could love any style more than Second Empire or Victorian, or Greek Revival, but I'm in love. OH MY!! This house is simply AMAZING!! Even with all the work that needs to be done, it's gorgeous. I love, love, love Arts & Crafts/Craftsman/Mission style homes. The woodwork and built-ins are so incredible! And EACH of those huge vessel tubs is absolutely beautiful and worth saving! As you stated, they just need to be reglazed. I know personally that those types of tubs are great for a good, long, hot soak. The water stays very warm for a long time because, generally, these tubs are cast iron with a porcelain enamel finish. This house SO deserves to be lovingly restored and brought back to her original glory!! Someone that understands and appreciates this type of home NEEDS to buy this house and RESTORE, not tear out and destroy all the historical elements of this home! If I had the money, I'd do it because this is literally a dream home to me!! Thank you for showing this house. I wish the tour was more extensive because there were quite a few things y'all didn't show. Even though I can't buy it, I'd LOVE to see it in person and tour it. Y'all MUST make sure this house doesn't fall into the wrong hands and all the original beauty, charm, and warmth gets stripped from her!

This beauty of a home needs a young family with 3--4 kids to bring back enthusiasum and laughter. Kids running thru the doors and dogs rushing after them. If only my husband and I were 35 years younger you would have to fight us for first crack at this house! What potential and opportunity. We have a very similar home locally and it too is built on a corner, all the better to appreciate all the sunny exposures. The owners have gradually upgraded the home and seeing it lit for Christmas is just amazing. I see the corner yard and think of the mixed garden that would compliment the home. And I just imagine how she would look lit for Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and any other holiday. And the huge porch just cries out for comfortable seating and friends. I will be dreaming about this one for months!

for the stairs that go up and down, Some houses in Fr. Thomas Kentucky have that, My grandmothers house, from the living room in the front of you would cross through the living room to the far side of the house, and go up 4 steps to a landing, you could go down the other side to go into the kitchen, or turn and go up to the 2nd floor. Loved that house.

This house is a jewel, perfect for multi-generation family or, say, three retired best friends. Reasonable price, and Little Rock is in a great location in the US: perfect soils, spring water, grand terrain, four-season weather, Amtrak to east and west; plus only a 3-hour drive to the exceptional Crystal Bridges art museum. Wish I lived in Little Rock....

Great video! I especially like the sound work and the even pans that let us understand that complicated juncture between the kitchen and service spaces and the ground-floor bedrooms. You let the house speak for itself in those moments. You've highlighted a treasure and I would like to think that your thoughtful work attracts a buyer sensitive to the property's extraordinary beauty. It does look like the house had an interesting second life around 1970, and thanks for highlighting that too. A note to my Southeastern friends: of course you know that those "go up to go down" stairs in the kitchen were for the servants! They permit discreet movement between the kitchen and the second floor without disturbing activities in the main public space. The servants may well have slept upstairs in rooms too hot for use in pre-a/c Little Rock summers. Thanks so much for your work!
