I opened a Roth IRA for my 14 year old. My hope is she creates her own trust fund and becomes FIWO- Financial Independence Work Optional. Explaining retirement to a teenager is kind of futile. Explaining a work optional choice got her attention.😂 Thank you for inspiring me to do better for myself and my daughter.

When I first started my investment journey I made the mistake of actually investing in single stocks I believed were great and realizing that for a whole year I never made any profit. Then I switched to low cost index funds and my returns got much better and effective without much of the volatility or possibly huge negative swings of single stocks. I learned that I shouldn’t put all my money into single stocks unless I was a professional and willing to do my homework on that particular investment. To that I add if I can also afford to lose half of its value when it happened, which I couldn’t. You guys are doing great in financial education, thank you! Please keep educating🙂👍

Also, you can start with say 25$ per month. And then as you realise it works and you're making money with these assets, like index funds for example, you'll be surprised how you'll be able to cut back certain costs in life to invest more. I started with £50 per month from my paycheck for the first year or so, then I changed a few things around and pushed it up to £150 per month. It becomes kind of an addiction, once you realise that cash in the bank is wasting money, you'll want most of your cash invested into something that creates more money.

I left a job and was hesitant to put all the money in stock. I bought some corporate bonds* that paid interest rates ranging from 4-10%. I used the interest to leverage a career change. The clinic I was working at was about to close and I was most likely going to be transferred to a very toxic work environment. Better to leave than be escorted. Now I'm using the interest toward retirement.

Please consider e a video on your thoughts of leverage (whether it'd be margin, options, 2-3x etfs). I think so many new beginner retail investors are doing it. In my opinion, it may be in their best interest to either not to leverage in a high market, or at least be educated on how much they should leverage based on history/stats. I personally leverage more in a low market, and less in a high.

Hahahaha after that i started reading and watching videos to understand more. Such a costly mistake 🤦‍♂️

It is crazy to think how far just $25 can go. People think we are crazy for being frugal and saving a little extra money here and there on not dinning out often, having older cell phones and old (paid for vehicles)....but we have invested wisely. We travel 2-3 times a year on some epic, bucket list travels and are set to retire in 17 months (at age 45). We are moving to Nicaragua and plan to enjoy the sun, sand, surf, yoga and plenty of travel.

I-Bonds (Inflation Bonds) are currently paying out a 3.54% annual yield. As inflation continues to rise it could continue to be a good form of setting aside cash reserves that you don't need access to. While this return is clearly not as lucrative as the stock market when it performs well, it is a very strong return relative to money market or other "safe" investments out there.

Hi Amon & Christina! I’m in the early stages of my FIRE journey and am also interested in moving/retiring abroad in Europe. I was wondering if you have insight (or could make a video) on how to take currency exchange rates into consideration when investing for FIRE. For example, I earn income and invest in USD. The USD / Euro exchange rate has varied widely over the past few decades, with the dollar being weaker for much of that time. How do we factor this variability into calculating our FIRE number? What other ways can we reduce vulnerability to fluctuating currencies once we’ve FIRE’d? I assume being able to buy your house outright (like you’ve done) eliminates a potentially large recurring expense of a mortgage or rent payment. Are there any other tips to ensure our investments will last through currency fluctuations in retirement? Thanks for all you do! Your videos have been incredibly helpful, encouraging, and inspiring to me on my journey. Any insight or resources you have are greatly appreciated!

What if I have school debt. Which should I do first? Pay off debt to save more in the future? Or pay off debt and invest at the same time? Thanks!

Not sure if now is the right time to start investing., Experts are saying the stock market is in a massive bubble with all the recent money printing and due for a crash. Should I start investing or wait? Hate to lose a part of my savings.

Question: I’m currently investing in VTSAX in a taxable brokerage account. I want to also invest in REITs but I heard on a podcast that it’s better to invest in REITs from a tax advantaged account because REITs are taxed differently. Which account are your REITs in?

Put your REITs in a taxed advantage account so that you won’t get taxed high.

Love the channel and appreciate the insights. One thing I know you've mentioned in other videos but didn't mention here is Target Date Funds. If the goal is retirement savings that is a great option - especially in a 401K or other retirement plan. I've had good success with them in my 401K and was thinking about them while watching this video as many that I've looked at are well under the $25 target you mentioned.

I am signing up for your program and looking forward to learning but my question to you is; Do you address the needs of us older people? I have recently come into money, have already retired and am looking for education that is relevant to now....specific to this older age range. I am curious as to strategies that might be more relevant to me. Thank you for the opportunity to learn!

I've been debtfree for a little over a year (other than my mortgage which is less than half of my home value), but I still feel so nervous about taking the plunge into investing. I save a TON and I know that my money isn't doing much sitting in a regular savings account. Maybe it's just that I've never had this level of security before. It just feels like gambling with my hard-earned nest egg. I'm going to check out that video you mentioned about walking through setting up an account. Gotta get over these nerves if I'm ever going to retire early!
