There is something about the 1960s and 70s that produced very creative people. I'm a 62 baby, so it is much older than you, and have always been drawn to hobbies that require a creative mind. When I retired at 50, I built myself a woodworking shop in my backyard as a retirement gift. I already have some very good machinery and tools I just need a larger space to use them in. My other hobbies go from spoon carving to leather and jewelry making. I also love history, so I'm always researching something. I only recently got into the chalk paint craze I have decided to reopen my two Etsy stores and try to sell some of my woodworking items. I live in a 1950s cottage and have never liked the construction-grade oak kitchen cabinets. I have started constructing new farmhouse-style doors for the cabinets that will get a coat of white paint. I'm making them look like my grandparent's old 1800s country farmhouse kitchen cabinets that I have loved since childhood. The will be board and batten style doors. There will be a bead running down between each board on the door with some antique hardware I restored from that era. I'd found some beading hand planes that I'm using to create the bead, so no electric router for me! I just love all of your videos, and I especially appreciate the homemade chalk paint videos. Your right, chalk paint is very expensive and you only get a qt for the price of a gallon. I also love color and the brighter the better the older I get. My jeep sub is a bright lime green. I figure if I ever get stuck in a snow bank, the tow truck will spot easier, lol. I've always been a collected of things and parts that end up in my sculptures. When my dad taught me to weld at 12, we used to take trips to the junk yard to pick up parts for whatever we decided to make that weekend. Grasshoppers out of screws, nuts, wire and parts was my favorite, and I still have it today. I made a 1940s ford pickup truck that was very detailed for a fathers day gift. I have it now that my parents are gone. My uncle who restored antique vehicles helped me to make it look like a specific model dad loved. Okay, now I'm rambling, sorry about that. You are an inspiration to thousands and I'm one of them. Thank you for that!👍

I think you’re absolutely right I think when we were little we didn’t have cell phones computers etc. so we had to use our imagination when we were playing and I think that intern has made us creative I don’t look at anything that is scrap or thrown out without wondering what I can turn it into thanks for watching glad you enjoyed

I was glad to see that you left the vintage canisters as is and didn't paint over them! Do you intend to leave the rust? If you want to remove the rust, I know that vinegar will help remove most of rust off but be sure to wash the canisters when you have finished. I really enjoy your upcycling treasures and you help inspire me!
