Wow is the right word, along with the high winds, what a lot of snow drifts and tall ones too. Your gator just bottoms out in such high snow drifts, doesn't it! The right move using the tractors to check on the cows. I hope everyone is safe and all turns out well in all that snow and wind, blizzard. Great video, thanks for sharing, have a warm and safe night, see you tomorrow.

Jeff all bundled up like it's a winter storm. 🤣 Glad yous are getting moisture and keeping safe. Wish yous could get the blizzard like we had in 1966 in Central NewYork. The plowed snow was up to the telephone wires. Snow everywhere.Plus a few other years we got hit hard. Such an exciting time. Yous are doing an awesome job of keeping up with everything. The wind is the worst. I'm sure the kids are loving no school. No new calves. Hold on Bambi girl the 28th is almost here. Hold on till then girl. 🤣🤣 75° here today and tomorrow in Central New York then dipping down again. You boys keep up the great work. Always a great video, music,and adventures. Stay safe and warm.

Mike, you have a good plan to ride out the blizzard. Stick with the tractors for now and hope the weather improves soon. Cattle look ok, but the concern is the water and hay supply. Getting more hay rolls could be interesting. I’m curious how the A Team is doing with the pigs. I’ve seen my share of spring blizzards here in Alberta, Canada and while no fun, it is an accepted part of life. Hunker down and do what you can. Take care, stay safe and good luck!

What a storm. Loved look on Matt's face when you got back in gator and told Jeff you'd be ready in 5-10 min. So amazing to think of farmers stringing a rope from there house to their barn just to be able to care for a few animals. Driving through and not being able to see but 20-30 ft is scary. Glad you don't have to go out over all the acerage to look for calves. Maybe cows are smart enough to not have a calf during a blizzard.

My goodness, Well you did get the moisture you needed so bad. What a lot of hard cold work taking care of all your live stock. I can not imagine going out in this type of weather every two hours to do your live stock check. In 1996 here in BC Canada we had a 100year blizzard that dumped 6’ of snow. It bought our city to a 2 week stand still. We were very thankful for our wood stove and extra food to cook without worrying about having to go to the store. Stay safe and warm. Blessings, 🇨🇦

Taking some of that old tin that you took off of the old fence/windbreak you removed and boxing off the last bay or two of the cow shed, would be a good idea. It would give a sheltered area for future calves where the snow has drifted in now.
@nezlquasie
@nezlquasie 2 жыл бұрын
My thought as well. Knowing/seeing how it drifts around buildings this time can make a huge difference on where to put a slab of tin.
@FarmFreshIB
@FarmFreshIB 2 жыл бұрын
@@nezlquasie It might even be possible to direct some of the drifts so they go INTO places like the ponds. I realize that every storm is different (and that right now the MOST IMPORTANT thing is just keeping people and animals safe), but some wind patterns are more typical than others. Doing some homework and prepping on nice days might pay moisture dividends from a future storm.

Because of the weather, you've had that jacket on every day it has done the job of keeping you warm and able to continue working. More weather headed your way. This brings back blood-deep memories of prairie blizzards from 4 generations of ranching ancestors in Montana, and my own young adulthood there. Whiteouts so bad you can't tell what is the road and what is the field, drifted snow like concrete, -40 degree temps, wind that would blow the snow sideways into the next county... Stay safe and close to home! I hope all the livestock comes through safely, too.

Glad Jeff has been there to help you and Erin. It would have been a tough go with out him there. If not for Jeff, Erin would have had to be out there.

Need some heat first... have seen it happen over and over again where it doesn't warm up enough and lose a lot of the moisture to evaporation.

Hard to say but the nasty storm is a blessing when you get a good first cutting of hay. This too shall pass.

I hope this will give you enough moisture to jump start your grass/hay growth. Hope it's not just to little to late scenario. Thank goodness for Jeff and Matt to help you through these times. Friends like them are few and far between.
