The fact they performed this song means they must have been looking at this as a possible single. Making the decision to abandon this and the other Out Among the Stars recordings all the more puzzling. I mean they even got Marty Stuart in on this. It's a shame because even taking into account the polishing John Carter Cash oversaw 30 years later to get the recordings ready for release, the stuff recorded for the abandoned album was better than most of the material Johnny actually released at the time.

Maybe if it was released before, they would have dropped him from Columbia, because this album went #1, when it was released last year. Think what it could have done back then.
